Which of these you'd want to pair your barbecue with? Or anything that's considerably aptly partnered for these starchy food.

Oh!1 I preferred rice to go with my barbecue. Here in the Philippines we used to have rice not a mashed potato. when we cook potato we will not mash it and we don't usually partner it with barbecue. If we do have barbecue, it should always go with rice.javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$cphMainContent$lbStart','')

i would usually pair potatoe salad with barbeque but boiled white rice goes very nicely with barbequed chicken.

Rice at a barbecue? Wouldn't all those tiny grains of rice fall through the grill and into the fire? I am only kidding of course! I think it all depends on the meat being served. A thick juicy steak calls for a starch that is more substantial. Potatoes--either mashed or baked--are the perfect match for steak. But then I grew up in a household where hearty "meat and potatoes" meals were served, so maybe that mentality has something to do with it. Chicken, on the other hand, is lighter than steak and is better paired with rice. Again, it is all about my upbringing. I can still hear my mother's words: "Chicken and rice is really nice." *cringe* Pork can go either way. And fish...well, you can't have fish without the chips.

I love rich, but can cook potatoes on the grill with the other barbecued foods, so that is what I would do. Actually that is what we do! I am a big fan of rice with stir fried fresh veggies, but it doesn't sound good with barbecued foods to me.

If I were to choose between the two, I would go for rice. Since for me, meat comes soooo well with rice. You just really have to watch out for what you eat since if you eat too much rice, the higher the risk of gaining weight. hehehe!! I can also eat barbeque without rice or potatoes. I can eat barbeque paired with cold cola. :)

I don't pair either with barbeque, I prefer cole slaw or potato chip or even sweet potato crunch with my que. I like grilled or baked chicken with mashed potatoes, or meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I am really not a huge fan of boiled rice, but can have it with cubed steak or country style steak.

I am more likely to have mashed potatoes that rice with my BBQ. But I also do rice sometimes. I think it depends on what I am in the mood for. Rice I tend to get more spicy with while with potatoes I keep it a bit milder. Also the kids tend to like potatoes more that rice and I make that more often then rice. I rarely every have pasta with bbq though when I was camping last year I did. i found it easier to make than anything else with very limited kitchen ability.

I think mashed potatoes would be better. Another great idea would be potator salad as well. I love that during a barbque. I think that is my favorite time of the year around Ohio, summer that is when we barbque the most around here. Also make sure you make baked beans as well. Those are another great add on to a meal such as that as well.

I prefer boiled rice to mashed potatoes but I think that mashed potatoes are still really really good. It all depends on what kind of food each one is for example there are a bunch of different styles of rice that you can make and you can do some cool things with mashed potatoes as well. But still I prefer rice over mashed potatoes I believe.
