When do you chose best response?

I usually wait a week or more before I assign best response to my discussions, but I have noticed when responding to some discussions that they have chosen the best response after only one or two responses and within an hour or two of when the discussion was posted.

I probably go in once per month and pick. This way it gives time for all to have answered. I hate it when someone gives it right away. They may miss a better response.

I have to agree - I like to see all the responses possible before I choose.

I usually say around two weeks. I am very behind on mine. Not having much time to be here. I look for a response that seems to get the spirit of what I was asking.

I agree - I like to think that someone actually read the discussion and is responding to what was asked.

I never plan on when I am going to give a best response. It totaly depends on the response. Sometimes the response is so incredible that it an automatic best. I do not like to wait too long because when you post alot of discussions these can start adding up. I do think a week is a pretty good gauge but sometimes I make a change from that!

I guess I figure that I don't know if it's the "best" until I have more to compare it with!

i think they choose the best response in a short time
because they think they find a better way to figure out their questions

It will depend on the host of the discussion, when he chooses to mark the best response. If I start a new discussion and start receiving responses, I donot choose the Best Response spontaneiously. I won't normally act spontaneously, even if I consider a response to be worthy of the Best Response. I will allow others to respond, you never know, who is going to come out with well considered thoughts and there are always chances of receiving a better response. I allow the discussion to remain open because if I happen to mark the best response at the one go and later on some better response is posted, I may not feel repentent, because in that case, I cannot mark the best response.
As far as I am concerned, there is no time frame, in fact I take considerable time to decide the BR in a discussions, may be 2-3 months, which I know I should not, yet I am lazy in selecting BRs.

I am notoriously behind on choosing best responses. Thankfully, I haven't started too many discussions lately and should be able to catch up if I do several a day for the next week.
I've never understood why people would choose them after only a couple of hours. To each his own, I guess.
