I would have called the police if they are going to be like that. Considering you had work in the morning I wouldn't have hesitated. They can't just play music like that @ 3 in the morning unless I am invited too. That's a different story.

Yea, I would have called the police. I've done it before with some neighbors of mine. They would have their music cranked up so high the windows rattled. I could hear shouting, fireworks, and all sorts of noise. If its a weekend I'm a bit more tolerant. But, when 1am comes and its still going on, I want sleep. So, I called the police and they got them to quiet down. You might want to invest in some ear plugs. I keep mine under my pillow. LOL

I would not only have called the police I would have called the landlord...and if he's not available in the eveings I would still call him as soon as he's available to report these people. This kind of behavior IS going to continue unless someone puts a stop to it. Do not confront them yourself...that's what you pay rent and taxes for...so someone in authority can tell thoughtless people to quiet down. Don't worry about them knowing who called...I'm sure they were disturbing everyone in the area.

The police should be called when people are partying into the night. It's a simple respect thing. If you are having a party, keep the noise down and definitely shut it down at a reasonable time. There are noise bylaws and if they don't obey those, they can get charged by the police, especially if the police have to keep coming back because the disturbance is ongoing.

I also would have called the police, because if you don't step up for your rights it is going to keep happening, you have the right to be able to sleep at night. and if you try to confront it yourself you run into being in danger because you never know what could happen. It is best left for the police to handle situations like that. They should have to keep the noise down after a certain time in the evenings. You should respect their right to have a party and be loud till about 10:00 or 11:00 Oclock, and they should respect your right to get a good nights sleep. If it happens all the time call the police,

I am not a cop-caller but under the circumstances that you describe...oh yes...I'd have called. You did your part in trying to reason with them; You have a right to some peace and quite at that hour. I'd also report it to the landlord. It is over with now but if it happens again....get your neighbors to also support you.

I would have called them. That many people makes it not even safe not to mention the noise and who knows what else. If they did it once now they will probably do it again. Maybe not to that extent but they will have parties or whatever. Renting comes with responsibilities to your neighbors as well.

I have never had that problem but I think I would have to call the police. You have now given permission by ignoring the problem and they obviously do not care about you. It will probably happen again so the problem has not gone away, only postponed. I do not know why some people think they are they only people in the world.

I think I would have called the landlord first. It is their duty to look after things like this. Thats what they are paid for. However if I did not get an immediate response, then yes I would have called the police. That could be a potentially dangerous situation.

I think I would have had to call the landlord/tenant of the building and complained to them, and mentioned that you've already asked them to keep it down with no avial. If nothing was done by the landlord/tenant, then I would have called the police.

I would have politely asked them several times to turn down the music, as you did, and if they kept ignoring and giving dirty looks, I would certainly have called the police. That is unacceptable behavior. I am surprised no one else in your complex ended up calling the cops on them!
Even though it was a weekend night, as you said, children are sleeping and some people DO have to work on weekends as well. To party is fine, even into the early morning hours as they were, but they need to understand they are not isolated and respect the people who live by them as well. To party would have been fine if they had at least made some attempts after people were complaining of the noise. I would have been grateful if they complied and turned the music down a little bit as well as try to control their own rowdiness and noise, and use quieter voices rather than screaming...

Hi Lorraine, so sorry you are experiencing this crap. Yes, I would have called the police. You have got to check out your local community centers and find out who your councilman or woman is...they are responsible for making sure that these types of things do not happen...Also, write or call your local Freeholders, write to your local newspaper opinion page...I believe you will get results...I am no stranger to disturbances, although in my area it is all about violence, real violence...just two weeks ago a guy was shot in the face in front of my house, UGH, he lived...it had to do with retaliationl...it is a gang thing...mostly everyone around me is hostile, they are unaproachable...In December 08 a girl was shot 3 times in her legs, again in front of my house! We, my daughters and I stay to ourselves since buying this home in Nov. of 07 we have made no friends here...one lady directly across from our back yard is nice but she too keeps very much to herself...the others are unsociable, they only know arguing and violence, it makes me sick, sometimes I wonder if I did the right thing...this house is a gift for my daughters, it is the perfect house in that it is actually two houses in one, our garage is a single residential dwelling, it has a living room, bedroom, and a bathroom, only missing a kitchen and the big house has 8 rooms, it is beautiful.
I am not going anywhere I will call the police as many times as I have too and even though inside myself I am a bit scared, I never show it...we also have two giant size pit bulls! No one messes with us, thank God
I sincerely hope everything works out and hopefully they were just celebrating their moving in, if not take my advice it will deter if not resolve your issues with the undesirables.
Good luck!

I would definitely have called the cops, especially after asking them to turn it down and getting no response from them. I don't tolerate violation of noise ordinances. I used to have to call the cops ALL the time when I used to live in a bad neighborhood. There would always be people next door with their stereo really loud or people in the parking lot yelling and talking really loud at 4 am. I have a kid and it would sometimes keep him up, so I didn't mess around.

Why the question? It is obvious that the police should be called. You have every right to enjoy your unit like all the other in the building. If you were in my building, I would like it that you contact me first since I am the building manager. That way you are out of the picture and will not be retaliated against. But in the case where there is no manager on site - CALL THE COPS!

I would have called the police. You have a right to live a nice quiet life and they had wrecked that for you. Also it leaves room for more of that in the future. I have called the police on some of my neighbours in the past and would continue to do this. We all have rights and you should exercise those rights.
