We have a separate freezer we use to store meat. I find that we can do bigger food shopping's and stock up on meat for the month. Do you use a separate freezer to store you meat? Do you think its a good idea?

Yes we do have this, because we do hunting and fishing we often have a lot of meat to store before it's used by us or others.

yes we get deer, elk and turkey when we hunt. Not every year and not always do we have wild meat, that is why they call it hunting

We have a freezer for meat. We tend to buy in large bulk quantities once a month. Or we'll go to the butcher and get like 40 lbs of chicken or half a steer or something. So the meat goes in there. Then we only need to resupply what we use.

When we go to the butchers we really stock up and it comes in handy then too.

I do have an extra freezer and yes, I seperate foods into freezer bags. I think it is a great idea becaue the larger packs are always cheaper..I like having the room to include produce that I like to have in the winter when we need it. It is also interesting learning about what all you can freeze and how to do it!

hello moneymommy do i have an extra freezer in my home to store meat in? nope, but i would love to have a deep freezer like that thou. i do not know how many different times that i have been to the grocery store and have seen a really great deal not only on meat products but also on different frozen items as well. my Mom has a small deep freezer that she has in her dining room. she goes to Sam's Club lots to do her shopping and she buy things in bulk that she uses her freezer for. my hubby's sister's husband had gotten him a new deep freezer not long ago, and he gave us his old freezer, and when we got it home it didn't work. so now, we have to deal with hauling off the deep freezer downstairs. take care and have a beautiful evening.

Yep- I have a second freezer at home that I use to store my heat and frozen veggies. I go to the store once a week and check out the sale prices on meat and pick up stuff that way. I do the same thing with the frozen veggies. I probably won't be able to do that anymore when I move out of my parents place unless I find a house that has the space for a freezer and then find a cheap one to buy but that is one of the things I will be looking for in a place of my own.

We used to have a stand-up freezer that we mostly stored meat in about 6-7 years ago. Of course, by that time, my older sister finally moved out on her own (and therefore stopped eating at our house), my dad & mom split up, and I became a vegetarian, so as you can imagine.. We lost the need for an extra meat freezer. :)

You have done the proper way of meat storage and stock up. I mean, the separate storage compartment by using another freezer specifically for meat type stored out of other foods and beverages. Yours is a very good idea, as you said that it is your one month meat stock up. About me, I have to look for fresh meat and not the frozen type. Because of my health status and my monthly intake for meat cannot exceed the quantity which is equivalent to my fist size. So, I don't need ig size of storage compartment.

No, we never had an extra freezer to store meat in. But, that is a good idea to have an freezer that stores meat all by itself. That helps so much! It is better than to have one freezer packed up with meat. My grandmother has a freezer like that. She has a refigerator and then a deep freezer.. She stores most of her frozen meats in the deep freezer. Which is a good idea because she likes to stock up on a lot of meat and frozen foods..

I think that this is an excellent idea. When I was younger my grandparents had big freezer. They called it a deep freezer. They had a huge garden and they would store the vegatables from the garden once they washed and cut them up they would store the food in freezer bags. I have always wanted a small one but just have not been able to get one. They do come in handy especially when you have something to store in it.

yup I do too we have a deep freezer on the back porch that is strictly for our meat we do the meat shopping once a month and normally wipe out the local butcher all that meat would never fit in the little freezer and even if we tried where would the ice cream go?
