I dont know if its the same thing But my feet or hands may fall asleep and I dont realize it so then when I move The circulation blood flow comes back and I feel like I have little pins and needles in my feet or leg or hands. Also I get muscle contractions in my calves or toes sometimes and I cant stop them so my muscles move on their own and feel like im being ripped apart from the inside.

Hi pyewacket! Yeah, it happens to me all the time. After sitting in a cross-legged position, and I decide to stand up. Getting up, though, isn't as easy as I'd hoped. One of my legs has fallen asleep and now I have numbness and tingling - a "pins and needles" sensation. The medical term for this condition is "temporary paresthesia." It is caused by temporary pressure on the nerves in your legs. This can also occur in your arms, hands, feet or other parts of the body. It is not a serious condition. In most instances, feeling will return to normal within a minute or two. Here's the link where I got this from:

Take care and have a great day!

yes, I do and yes they do hurt like crazy. I've been told by my doctor that it's two things a nerve being pinched at times and a muscle spasm others. SO go figure. What ever they are they hurt.

I'm trying to figure out if this is really pye who started this discussion. Pa-lease? Okie dokie? Doesn't sound like pye to me.
Anyways, this doesn't happen to me. Instead, I get cramps either in hip, leg, side, back. I can just be sitting/laying down and it will happen. Hurts like the dickens and can't move till the pain goes away.

The things that go on with our bodies, pyewacket, will forever remain a mystery to me. I have felt these kinds of sensations for as long as I can remember and don't have a clue as to what causes them.I have often heard that our bodies speak to us so I guess this is a way of saying, "Wake up!"

It is a pinched nerve. I just adjust myself and have to move around (get up and down a few times), to avoid it.

Hi pye,
I've no idea why that happens, but I sometime have aches in my big toe and I haven't banged it or anything like that, maybe its to do with circleulation or something.
Bright Blessings.

I get that sometimes, but not very often; I have no idea what causes it to happen--But it definitely is annoying and painful.

it happens to me,but i couldn't tell you what causes it.
i imagine it has something to do with nerves/small veins in the extremities.

I don't recall ever having this happen to me, and I've never heard of it before. The only thing that has happened to me was, when I'm falling asleep and I get that jerky thing that wakes me up.

I think it is lack of exercise. Circulation. Maybe alittle dehydration setting in. Nerves for sure. My mom used to call them growing pains. And water weight gain as well. All these in a person causes some sudden pains here and there.

I get that sometimes, and it's pretty irritating. The first thing I do is check all the pets for fleas...and everyone gets sprayed if that's the case. Even indoor pets can get them, unfortunately. I'm sure I've brought some in myself if they've hopped on for a ride. If everyone seems to be pest-free, then I chock it up to twitchy nerves. In your case, does your beloved neighbor have a voodoo doll? Or, maybe it's a delayed reaction to her stepping on your last nerve?

Pye, I have so many aches and pains nowadays that it is sad. I do get those needle jabbing pains in various places, but mostly I get that kind of pain in my head (temple area). One of my calves is always partially numb, and has the pins and needles feeling, associated with a "cold" feeling in that area as well. And my toes get numb and prickly too. I have a lot of back problems, so I thought maybe it is caused by pinched nerves, or poor circulation. Who knows? My doctor does not seem overly concerned if I bring up the numbness. He gave me a prescription that is supposed to help it. And it does help it to a certain degree, but does not stop it completely. Anyway, good discussion! But when I get on my aches and pains, I could go on all night!
