I do! A man in Washington state found out there were burgulars in his house while he was in the basement he snuck out with his cell phone and got in the get away van that was running with the keys in the ignition and drove away as he called the police on his cell.
The burgulars left on foot with nothing!lol The man later said that that was the dumbest thing that he hs ever done.I don't think it was dumb,it was smart and funny.
Do you think this was smart and funny?
Oh yeah the police were going to press charges against the man for stealing the van!I guess they got too many phone calls because they have now changed their minds.

lol that is funny. He probably shouldn't have done it..but it worked out good. And serves the burglars right!
It's funny how sometimes the victim can end up getting charged instead for things like that. Like I remember reading in the paper once, that a burglar broke into someone's house through their roof, and fell through their ceiling and broke his leg. The burglar later SUED the owner of the house for his broken leg. And he won! How stupid is that? lol

The way the law seems to be on the criminal's side these days it might not have been a good idea. Like someone else mentioned about the burglar falling through the roof and how about the one that got locked in the garage and sued because all he had to eat was dog food. My grandson and I were talking about dumb criminals to when I was telling him about the woman that captured one by giving him a wedgie. He told me about the one that cashed his check then proceeded to hold up the bank. then there was the one that tried to rob one of those minimarts. the clerk kept asking for the man's ID and he finely showed it to the clerk and he as caught. some crooks are just so dumb. I agree that the man that took the van should not have been charged but techneclly he did steal the van so broke the law too. Maybe he should have just taken the keys and let the air out of the tires.

Exactly! I was thinking the same thing. The man should get a medal. He probably saved other people from being robed and having stolen merchandise.

That is funny! I am glad he is not in trouble and they took nothing. I hope they can trace the van and get these guys.

Kind of funny and a little dumb. But I really don't think they should charged the man with stealing of the van because he didn't meant to get it just got the car to report it to the police. I think that is a little dumb on the police to do that. Now that they have the van perhaps they can really find out who the real owners of the van is and track the real burglars.

Yeah that does seem a bit funny. Can't believe they were wanting to press charges against the man for taking the van that the robbers left running. Pretty smart on the man's part for escaping and taking the van and calling the police from his cell in my opinion.

This account of the man burglarizing his burglars reminds me of a cartoon picture I have kept for more than 30 years. I have attached it here. Seeing it, you will know the similarities it is depicting.
I think this Washington man was both smart and not so smart. Smart because he disabled the burglars' escape means by driving away their van and he made good use of his cellphone to alert the police. But he could have been smarter by just taking the keys out of the ignition and keeping it, thus crippling the van. He didn't need to drive it away, so won't be accused of stealing the van. Then he could have stayed around the vicinity of his home while waiting for the police to arrive, so he could monitor what's happening and relay the situation to the police.

I would have done a lot more then drive off in their van . I think he did the right thing. As for charges against him for stealing the van, well that is what I find dumb.
I would say good on the guy and making fools of the criminals, they got what they deserved even though they deserved a lot worse. I love these kind of stories

I think it's great that this guy stopped the robbers from getting anything. I also think that he was very lucky that there was no one in the van he took to get away. I think he was very brave, smart and more than a little lucky. Wow this is definately one for the books.

That is funny, I'm not sure it was smart though. The burglars might come back for revenge!

Oh, yeah! It's smart an funny. Stupid, too, since he could've gotten hurt really badly if the burglars realized what was going on.
Charging him for stealing the van would've been ridiculous! I'm glad the cops let him off for it. It wasn't like he was going to keep it or anything.

That is hillarious...LOL! I didn't hear that one but it is a good one. I commend the guy for taking action and doing something. As far as it being dumb or funny...I think it could be both. What would have happened if someone else was still in the van...not good...then it would have been dumb...LOL! But since it turned out the way it did it is very very funny...LOL!

That is funny. I am surprised the police didn't press charges. The law is so backwards. Hope the would be burglars at least got arrested for breaking and entering. Oh wait, these are cops that don't want to do anything so they probably told the man "It's a Civil Matter."
That was the best thing the guy could have done. Although, I think I would have ditched the van and not told anyone I took it after I wiped my fingerprints off. HAHAHA
