Every time you turn the television on now it is Octo Mom. She has made national headlines.
Don't get me wrong I do feel sorry for the children. This isn't about the children this is about her. I truly believe something is mentally wrong with her. But think about it this is the United States and that woman has hit a gold mind She will never have anything to worry about all the publicity she is getting she and those children will be well cared for from now on. The woman doesn't work and there is no way she can work now with 14 children. If she has never worked then she hasn't put anything into the system but she will surely be getting something out of it now.
I guess I am bitter because I have worked all my adult like lost my job because of plant closing and I can't even get medical assistance. How can I feel good about what she did?
Dr Phil had 3 people out of his audience to bring the amount of baby car seats and booster seats that she would need to get those 14 children around in an automobile and all of those seats filled up the stage.
Every week he is talking about this woman on his show. I am waiting for him to announce what is going to do to help her.
I am just venting. Thanks for listening or reading.

She did work briefly as at a mental hospital. They should have kept her as patient, lol. I wish there would be a way to support the children without her benefiting from it. To me she is an unfit mother and she doesn't care as much as she claims she does. That has become very clear to me in the way she deals with the children even when the camera is on her and the way she sought out publicity when the little ones are in the hospital and the other ones are at home. She likes the spotlight.
Dr Phil is helping by keeping this up on his show. I'm glad they are getting some help. Let's hope that any money that comes in is really spent on the kids and not on her getting more botox shots, manicures, maybe even plastic surgery etc.
And yes, I'm tired of hearing that story, too. But in this case I think the public has to remain vigilant to see that the kids are really taken care off. The house, too small anyway, is now going into foreclosure. I'm sure we'll hear about octo-mom for many years to come. Something tells me she'll get her reality TV show and will be parading her kids around to show off what a great mom she is...

I am with you all the way. I wish the best for the children. I do hope they keep the public informed about their welfare. But like you I do not want her to benefit from this. I want nothing but the best for those kids. I hope they don't get separated. I just don't know any thing else to say about this. What's going to happen to those children? She can't take care all those children even with help.

Jonesy, I totally Agree with you on that one about the doctor...
It sounds like the doctor is definately in trouble with the medical community, and if this mother is not capable of handling all of them.. There is definately gonna be a backlash on this type of medical treatments... We still do not know how its gonna effect the children themselves growing up.... As far as Dr. Phil goes.. In the end I do not think he really helps 50% of those people. For more than temporarily maybe I am wrong.. In some cases I see him helping but most of the time.. from my perspective I see a doctor downing people for their issues instead of raising them up - DNatureofDTrain

I wish the state of California wouldn't have so many financial problems right now. I sure hope they look into this. They could in theory appoint a guardian for the children and require that all the donations go into a trust fund for the kids to use once they turn 21 or something, and with a monthly pay-out of x where the guardian pays the bills. The mom can live with the kids to be 'in the picture' but shouldn't have any say as to what happens with the money or what schools they attend etc. She shouldn't have the ability to parade them around just so she can make money.
Well, in theory that is a possible option for the state to pursue. But with their many internal problems right now I doubt they are really looking into this very much to begin with.

No I don't agree with you, you are not just venting...You're one of the ones that's talking common sense. I did read what you wrote and I do fully understand what you're saying and I can't see this as venting but rather speaking the truth. I too feel sorry for these children Big Time!!! I was born and raised in Canada and I have paid into the Canada Pension Plan since it went in which was about 1965 or 66 and in 1999 I became 100% unemployable so I applied for Canada Pension Plan disability and although I fought tooth and nail I was denied all three times and even had a tribunal hearing and the end result was they determined I was mentally capable of obtaining a desk job. When I asked about computer courses or the training I would need to further my education (all I have is grade 10) I was told, "That's not our problem" so here I sit with nothing. I think the doctor/doctors who are responsible for inserting the embryo should also be responsible for the welfare of these children. She had six kids already and it's OK to get invitro and have eight more babies with no husband, no job and fourteen children to feed??? HELLO??? There's a family in my town and they had 18 children if you can imagine, BUT let me tell you all 18 kids are very well educated adults with profession jobs. The dad had been gone for a few years already and the mom just passed away this year at 89 years old, BUT they never saw one hungry day, they never asked or relieved anything they didn't work for and never applied for welfare. The children were conceived by two loving parents. This is ridiculous.

Oh, I so agree that the IVF doctor needs to be held responsible financially. I do think he acted irresponsibly by implanting that many embryos in the first place. Especially since he very well knew that she already had six kids.

It was on again this morning! I think it is way too much coverage. They have over done it, lets move on! She has had so much media attention already, really, what else needs to be said? I would like to see other things going on in the world.....

She was on Dr. Phil today, he really does sympathize with her I think he is going to help her. She needs it she doesn't have all her ducks in a row and it really is going to hurt those children. She says she doesn't like the publicity I really thinks she does. Every time she is interviewed she has this smirk on her face. She doesn't have anything to worry about she and those children will be well cared for.

Chevee, she may not be dealing with a full deck. This is more a case of "don't hate the player, hate the game". I feel it is time for system reform, and, thanks to Octo Mom, we may get it. Things will get better, it will take a while but things will improve.

Hi Chevee,
You can vent all you like, but I am glad we don't hear of her much now in the UK, yes she is a very lucky lady and have all those kids but woman like me had long for a child but couldn't conceive and in my days it was not possible and then I had an early change, but this woman would never have to worry, sometimes I think we have done it all wrong because the goverment and everyone seems to help people them more. Hugs.

Personally even Married couples would have problems being able to provide and take care of this many children let alone any woman who is Single. And considering she does not have a Job, who is really taking care of her and her 14 kids? And since she fired the Free help, how is she going to keep from loosing a lot of those kids as well.
I am tired of hearing about her as well, and wonder how the State of California is accepting this huge Financial burden as well. I am thinking she is only using people for what she can get and wonder why people would want to help her anyway unless it is for the sake of the kids.

I'm not so sure that she will be getting all the handouts since a lot of people are really upset about her doing this. I agree with you that there is something wrong with this woman. I think she could use some professional counseling. Unfortunately she should have had it before she decided to have in-vitro fertilization to try for yet another child after she already had 6! She says she is going to go back to school in the fall. Who is going to pay for that and who is going to take care of all the children? I just feel sorry for all those kids.

You know what I just love about this whole thing?! How Octo Mom stated that she did'nt do this to write books, be on tv, for basically fame and money. HogWash!
As it is so obvious, she did it all for these reasons. She just could'nt wait to be in the limelight, for I don't see her refusing any of the options handed to her. In my opinion, I believe all of this was planned from the get go, the doc. and her. To Go Down in History.
It bothers me also that she's going to get all this help while those who lost their jobs or those even working and having no medical insurance at all can't get the help. Everyone should have medical insurance no matter what. I have some friends and family who are also just so sick of hearing about her. Yup, she's going to have the life, isn't she?
What kind of an automobile can even fit 14 car seats? Anyone know? Probably none at this point, so what? Someone going to make a "Special" vehicle for her and hand it right over to her on a silver plater? I certainly would'nt doubt it. Hey, I can use some money this way?!
I wonder about the father. Where is he? I sure do hope they are making him do the paying. I have never heard anything about the father. Have anyone else heard anything about a father and how he feels about it?

My husband and I were talking about this over the weekend, and he reminded me she was artificially insemenated. I forgot about that. I try not to listen to any thing regarding this lady anymore. Really just had enough hearing about this sheister. If that's how it's spelled.
Did Dr. Phil end up doing something for her?

She sure does have it made. I wish everyone in this world could have it made just like her, and without having to have all those children. I feel soo bad for the childen and hope all will grow up to be healthy and happy.
I'm not surprised she took another money making tv opportunity. I just still get a kick out of what she said on how she didn't want all of this. It's exactly what she wants.
I also just saw in US magazine, she recently got herself a full manicure. I'm lucky if I can afford a haircut two to three times a year, forget a manicure. I have 1 child, and she has more than a dozen and can afford this?
Thanks to the good old tax payers.

I feel you. I think she is mentally unstable and unable to care for these children. In the interviews done with the grandmother Octo Mom is not the one who takes care of the six that she already has. Recently with all of the publicity she has had several videos appear on shows like Entertainment Tonight that show her spending time with the 6 older kids. I bet this is the most attention those children have had from her in their entire lives! It is all for a show. She is a scam artist and she should be arrested for fraud against the state of California for her welfare and have her children ALL TAKEN AWAY FROM HER!

She is the epitome of EVERYTHING that is wrong with this country. She is an embarrasment to Californians like me who do work for a living and earn my own way and I don't take handouts.
I have a daughter. She's not quite a year old yet. My husband and I desperately wanted kids and when I didn't get pregnant right away, I was crushed. My sister had no problems getting pregnant, but I did. But eventually it did happen and I did not take any hand outs for my daughter along the way. Yes, I did have a baby shower, but does that really count?
This "Octo-Mom" needs to have all of her children taken away from her. She's a welfare hungry wh0re who is bankrupting an already bankrupt system. No wonder 2000 people in the state goverments are going to be losing their jobs. People like "Octo-Mom" should be ashamed of themselves, but why work when you make more in one month popping out babies than flipping burgers or working as a secretary like she used to do at that insane asylum. She's able to work, she just won't work. It's far too easy to sit at home and collect welfare for 14 fatherless children than actually work for a living.

I completely empathize with you. I think there are many of us who feel the same although you'll know from the responses soon enough. Unfortunately this is part of the entitlement society we have come to be now. You and I worked so that she could stay home and live off the system. It just turns out that we are "the system".

I'm so tired of hearing about her to be honest. I cannot count the number of threads on Mylot about her, not to mention the news, shows, etc. She's made an irresponsible decision, and now she's being celebrated. There are people out there living decent lives trying to make it who are being denied health and food benefits left and right, yet here is a woman who could afford treatments, and get's the world handed to her on a platter. Vent all you like. I think she's wrong.

you know, i feel the same you do. first of all im so sorry to hear that you lost your job. that must be really hard. i hope you are able to find something soon.
I feel very sorry for those children. at first before i heard the whole story i felt like it wasnt her fault that she had 8 babies - fertility meds can do that. then i found out how many other children she had and that she had them because she was lonely? im sorry but having 6 children already- you should not feel lonely- and even if you did if the 6 children you already have are not helping the loneliness what makes you thing that another one would help that situation. i definately think that mother has some mental issues and it doesnt seem to me like she it a fit mother. and its horrible that she has used this to become nationally popular. even tho most of it might be negative attention (from me and you etc) she's still getting talked about and i bet she loves every second of it. i guess one thing i would wish for, for her is that should could get some mental help. maybe seeing a doctor or going into some sort or program can help her. at least then the children would have a good mother. I know that hearing all of this and the handouts that she gets must be frustrating. hope that helped a lil!

I believe this woman is a very smart woman-she conjured up some fertility issues in her head and came up with results, now with so many kids, Americans are paying for her so many kids and the recession is haveing no effect on her!Yet Americans should do exactly that because why shouldnt they honour a woman capable of raising a full football team with others on the reserve bench all by herself! I want to know if there is any woman in the world who has managed to do what exactly she has!

Well, She better be a good mother, as I do not want to see all those children end up in foster care.... I grew up in a foster home. althought I was an adopted one it was still pretty hard. My family was 15 people on average 2 adults and us children.... Oh they can work, and it is possible to raise that many children. You just have to get the right baby sitters to hire... And if they could do it in the late 1800's they surely can do it now. I am sure there would not be a good care takers center anywhere that would not help this woman out after all the news.
However, what worries me most about all this national publicities is its gonna attract the unwanted nasties to her children, she makes one false move, and they will all be thrown into the care system.....
Think of this way. She can hold a job, and her family members who do not have one can earn quite a bit through babysitting! ...
She can also sell off the extra diapers etc she never uses from all the donations and stuff.. As well as baby toys or better yet donate it back to other mothers in need.
There is also work at home jobs, like telemarketing etc. And if she gets the right investors she can have plenty of money to care for those children as they grow up.
To me does not matter if you have 100 children. There is no excuse not to be a working parent.... There are jobs out there who have daycares on the jobsite too...
I have a sister who worked as a foster parent, Went to college, and worked as a crisis counselor at two different places....
It can be done .... You just have to know to hire the right people to help raise and take care of them when you are not there and make sure to schedule in plenty of family time...
It takes special parents to raise that many children. And Althought I am glad she is getting public help.. The Public needs to remember to back off and allow these children space to grow up as normal children...
If people are tired of the octomom story.. shut the TV off.. when it comes on or change the channel, do not buy the paper that day its a top news story buy the other one. The press will get the message loud and clear. Same with any other story they are overcovering the moment the public is no longer buying is the moment the story is dropped as they want to only carry stories that sell.
As far as being jealous goes.. We all get jealous of celebrities and those making news. I see many times people did the same thing I did and go all kinds of media attention and help.. and here I sit here mad as I can not get help no matter how hard I try...
But, such as life. For those of us who keep our nose to the grindstone and work hard without the help. I think in the end its more power to us as we are getting th real experience out of life.. To know what it is like to both be down and up.

See,i dont have the problem.. I dont have television. well cable anyways. so i dont hear much about her.. I think what she did is VEARY selfish of her and them poor kids. ganna grow up to be wild kids.because one mom cant be at all 14 childrens sides saying you should do that because its wrong..disciplining them how the heck does she bath each kid!!.. Like i guess 7 one day and 7 the next..
She may have thought it was a good idea them but once thoes babies are home and she has all 14 to deal with shes ganna regret that decision. from what i understand. her mother is done with her after these 6 babies were born... she said she wasnt ganna help her with them..who knows.
I think if she gets on any public assistance government assistance whatever its called. she should only be allowed up to a certin amount. not for all kids...
Plus wasnt she paid a hefty amount of money to even carry thoes babies?..
I dont mean to say this to be mean. but more then likley she will either have multiple people to help her with them children the rest of her life OR they will get taken and seperated by the system.... i really do feel sorry for the kids.
