How to fill a hole just to have a party...........

Regina, Saskatchewan

It's simple. Dig one. Dump a truck in it. Then get on the phone. Beg, plead, cry, bribe, threaten. Trust me, it works...........or it did for me. Tomorrow the townsfolk will gather with baked goods, hot chocolate, one smart old guy with a few micky's up his sleeve, and I'll provide the coffee and brandy and party hats. The dump truck I dumped is going to be liberated from the hole. I have two farmers who have offered their services to chain the truck and drag it out of the hole with their tractors. They swear it will work as they've apparently had experience with similar probs in the muskeg that is the curse of Prairie springtime. You gotta love a farmer! LOL The price? I have promised to be good natured about the jokes I will be the butt of until the next time I don't listen to my dog! LOL What the hell. It's been a long hard winter and we all could use some laughter and a reason to party............ What would YOU make do if you could in exchange for getting me out of this mess?

Lucky you! You are coming out on the easy side. You gotta HUG those farmers' necks! You've been saved from a very expensive job if you did have to get a large tractor. But I'm still laughing! I would loved to have seen a picture of that job you did. Me? I've learned from you; never let you near my husband and his truck.

My husband laughed so hard when he got the visual of you doing the hand motions for the truck driver and he blindly let you roll him into the hole!!

Ha ha ha ha ha! I love that like, knitting instruction you have there... Dig one, dump a truck in it! What a wheeze!!!! Awww, it's great that your neighbourhood are coming to your rescue. How sweet is that? The farmers are funny too... I mean, why ask? lol. I'm a firm believer that whatever you give out comes back threefold my friend, so I wouldn't ask for anything in exchange, apart from perhaps a nice hot cup of soup at this time of the year. Brightest Blessings.

The party is this afternoon..........and I'm sure I'll be on the receiving end of many a 'threefold' joke! LOL But it's a great excuse to get my seniors out of their houses and having some fun, so it's all good. I wonder if they'll let me direct the farmers towing?.............nah, probably not! ROFL

Well I have the stuff to make a couple of choclate cakes and a batch of brownies. I vote for the brownies myself. But the cakes are just as good with an icing made with powdered sugar and butter...making me hungry for some cake now...lol

I would have you learn, dress accordingly and sing/perform all the songs from Funny Girl. You'd have to do it as closely like Barbra Streisand as possible. Hubs could be Nickie Arnstein, if you wanted, but it would be mainly a solo.

I missed this party of the story, I am reading out of sequence, but I'm still wondering about the details of the truck coming up and out, was the truck okay for or through all of the excitement? Did this really work out scot-free? It sounds to me as though it all worked out and you are not too much poorer for the ordeal. In fact I measure wealth by counting friends, I really haven't had a lot of pennies to count so I have to make my measure by counting those whom I call friend and in that arena I keep counting, all though some are here for a moment I love the ones that stick around and stay for a while... Those that know how to come back and play... So are there more parties for the hole town? Whole name change there maybe? Sparky's Hole town, when are you building the Hole Hotel? In the center of the Hole Hotel you could have the Large Lot room... Oh' I'm full of wonderful Ideas, don't you wish I would have read this post before the after party post? For sure you would have been all snowed in... LOL

I just wish you could be on our Town Council! LOL The truck came out with a lot of yelling and screaming and laughing. I'm not sure how road worthy it will be from now on, and it was a pretty old truck to begin with. But it limped away and out of town with only a minimum of creaks and groans and backfires! LOL The original driver never did show up................lol The hole got filled in with more dirt and it obligingly snowed last night, so the scars on the ground are nearly invisible now. Consuming a bottle of brandy in less than two hours was actually a small price to pay and seemed to amuse the farmers, so who am I to complain? ROFL

My English isn't so good Sparky. I have read and re-read your final sentence. Is there a "me" missing? If so, I'd have you being just the way you are but sworn to silence whilst those good ol boys get the truck out! Then it'd be you and me (and Annie) with brownies and lemonade whilst Spunky whips in the crowd!

Ahhh, I knew you would find a way. I figured I HAD to be some farmers, too. We can never say no to someone who is stuck. Why, just this winter, we have pulled at least a dozen people out of the ditch or the drifts on our road alone. That doesn't count the ones that we have pulled out on the way somewhere.

LOL. Yep, I called the farmers first and they all wanted to know if there'd be food and drink, so that's when I decided to make it a town event! ROFL Amazing what you can talk people suffering from cabin fever into! Just hope the weather holds. It's been pretty good so far this week............

Not here, today has been more like a blizzard all day. And getting worse by the minute. They shut down the 400 Hwy this morning due to an accident. The hubby had to clear a path for me to get to the barn with the bobcat. The snow was drifted in places clear above my big old insulated rubber farmer boots. LOL

Well daffy, What a fine mess you've made. You sure have a way of coming out of these messes smelling like a rose. I've always picked up on your resourcefulness. Sounds like you live in quite a friendly little community. I've had the pleasure of living in a couple of small communities in my adult life. I really miss it. Now living in Orlando is far from a small community. Wish I was there to cheer on the work party. Brandy sounds like a nice addition. Have fun one and all.xoxoxo leenie

Hey Louie! My little town has about 75 people in it that are all older than me, and I'm no spring duck! LOL But they're a good group and the surrounding farmers are the salt of the earth. The old Norman Rockwell values are alive and kicking here in my part of the Prairie, and I'm really pretty lucky they put up with my insanity! LOL I'll have a nip of brandy tomorrow just for you ok? LOL
