Do you wash your own underwears?

LOL. i know.. another silly question right?
but seriously i have a reason. this morning, i was at a friend's house and i was complaining about that i have a dozens of laundry to wash. then she suggested that i should hire an all around househelp.
(here in the philippines, most household hires a househelp in order for the houseowners not to worry about chores.)
i told my friend that i would rather do my laundry and save money. then i asked her if she knows how to hand wash her clothes. she said no.for the exception if they have a washing machine. so i told her, let's say she doesn't have a washing machine. her answer was still the same. all of them depends on their househelp when it comes to tasks like doing your laundry and etc. just out of nowhere, i asked her if she washes her own underwears. she said, "no". i was surprised. and even elaborated more (like what if she has a period blah blah) and still she told me that it's the maid who still washes.
i was surprised though. but made sure to myself that it will not make her less of a friend towards me. LOL. though i understand she was born with a silverspoon - i guess we all have different upbringing. =)
nothing against to anyone. i just wanna know. happy weekend mylotters!

I definately prefer to wash my own cloths whether it's by machine or by hand. There was a while when we didn't have a washer and I had to wash by hand and that is a big job...thankfully I have a washer now and it's no big deal but I still prefer to do it myself. I've never had a cleaning lady and doubt I'd ever want one...as long as I'm able to do it I'd rather do it myself.

for months now, my mom has been pestering me in hiring a househelp but i told her i coulnd manage almsot everything here - except for the cleaning. that will be the time that i will need a helop of a someone. lol. but i like what you said two, it's our responsibilty to be able to simple chores.

well, i would wash my underwears myself. I don`t need someone else to do that. It`s quite embarasing, because you know, underwears? That`s something intim. But i can say that i live far away from my parents now, but when i was home, my mom would wash all, when i was so young, now the washing machine does that, and i`m ding that job too, here where i don`t have a washing machine. I must say that once/month, i`m going home with some clothes to wash too, but not my underwears. Thouse i`m washing by hand. all the time.

that's very nice of you delkar. and it's already given when we're young, it's always our mom who will wash our clothes. but i know as we grow old, we are also asked to be trained just to learn a little responsibility of our own. =)

lol. my mom did me trained in an early age - i was 12 or 13 that i should start washing my own clothes because no one is around to do the job for me - most especially when i am an only child so no siblings to bully. lol.
if you come here in the philippines, you will really notice that most households hires a househelp - even really if it's beyond their budget - it's a sad truth really.

Even if we use a washing machine to do the laundary, it is better to hand wash the underwears.
I recently heard, some boarding high school students do not know how to hand wash. They just soak clothing with detergent in water for a quarter or so, and rinse it with running water.
It is good ift silverspoon born boys and girls could have got some coaching before leaving their home

LOL, it is silly, but i'll answer, hehe. Yes, I do was my own underwears, there was a time when I used the washing machine always to wash 'em but now i wash them with my hands haha. I figured out it's not such a hard work after all, LOL. happy washin ur own underwear and mylotting... hahaha

I just wash my own underwear but my husband would allow me to wash his underwear too. I don't want other people to see what's left in my undies . . .Hahaha. It's a shame to let other people know and see the "you know" in my undies.

lol. that's alright (the one where you wash your husband's undies - i think it's given right?) then him washing your undies too, i think that's alright.

i've never had anyone wash any of my clothes. i have never had any kind of help- to help me cleaning etc. as long s i'm able to do it i want to. i'd probably be hard to please. lol

i wash my own underwears because i think it's something very private and i don't want others to touch the things i'll be wearing underneath my clothes. it's kinda scary for me and i won't even think about letting others wash it for me.

my managers at my last job both really surprised me by telling me that they would not wear their boxers unless they were ironed. they had their wives do it, not hired help. i mean come on though. who needs their underwear pressed and steamed so they can wear them! they got really offended when i started to poke a little fun at them. it was a big deal to them!

ahahahaha!! there are really people who are so particular with their clothes.
and you'll be surprised too, my mom does it too. ironed her underwears before she uses it and even encourages me to do the same practice.
i do it sometimes though - if i have the time because usually, i can only ironed my undies once i am ironing all my clothes just to save electricity.

yes i do wash my own underwear. maybe your friend grew up pampered, and she always has a yaya to do evryting for her. but really, we have to learn how to wash our own clothes in cases of emergency.

yes. she's very dependent on their househelp when it comes to chores so thats why i did not judge her right away for i know they are rich and is living comfortably. but still, her mom could have taught her a little responsibility so that by the time she gets married, she'll be the perfect housewife. lol

yeah sure i do hahaha *giggles*... i mean how hard is it to put my undies straight to the washing machine? there are times i dont do it, because when my mom takes everyone's laundy, it's usually when im either asleep or not at home, so she does it anyway without me asking for it...but the point is, she doesnt do it with her hands. she just puts them straight inside the washer. the washer does really well at cleaning even the most stubborn stains. it's an automatic so as long as the right buttons are pressed it does do the job better than manual washing.

lol. most of us Filipinos prefer to do hand washing though because not all can afford washing machines.
but i guess as long as your mom did not wash it with her bare hands, that's acceptable - for me that is- because it's the washing that is doing the cleaning. lol.

oh yes... i certainly am... i don't have a house maid here... i have to do everything by myself... i use a washing machine to do my laundry though... so there is not much problem for me to do my laundry... i only live with my hubby... so we don't have many clothes to do anyway... take care and have a nice day...

You've got a sense of humor and I admire you for having an eye catching discussion. Frankly, since 9 years old I am washing my own underwear. My mother taught me how and she trained me to be responsible enough.At early stage, I am washing my own clothes, ironing them and arranging them on my closet. And until now I'm still doing those stuff. Well, we should wash our own thing, that's good enough so we all know how our stuff have clean, right? I never tried deliver my clothes through a laundry shop and oh my I will never do that, unless I don't have bear hands and capable of washing. I want to dry my clothes with the help our very dear beloved SUN, because a heat can kill some of bacterias,LOL... and If you just dryer that, oh the "Smell" it's not good even you put a lot of fabric conditioner...

I can wash my clothes by myself. But now ,my mother helps me to wash my clothes. As in the morning,she washes the clothes of the whole family's, so she is very tired. And I sometimes help her to wash.

not by a househelp, no i'd never let anyone (except for my family) wash my underwear. when we were younger, we had distribution of house chores and most of the time it's cooking that i get so someone else is designated to do the laundry. i hate it when my dad takes over the laundry job, he would just put everything in the washing machine and use only 1 pack of detergent for everything (yucks) so when it's his turn, i would get all my clothes and wash them myself.

Yes,i do.I wash my own clothes by hand,whenever it's summer or winter,because there is no washing machine in our rented house.And when i go back home,i usually wash clothes by machine in winter because the clothes are thick and hard to wash clean by hand,but i like to wash by hand in summer.Sometimes i also wash my parents' and sister's clothes
