Until 1/1/09, my addiction was Diet Coke. I would drink a 12pack of Dt Coke per day, easily. I just decided to make it my New Year's resolution to give it up. I went through 3 days of withdrawal (migraines) and have been almost 2 months without the soda now. Part of my trick to get rid of it was to drink "sparkling" flavored water - it had the crispness like soda and it seemed that was all I had the urge for.

My addiction/vice is. It just is, no questions asked.
I try to stop my addiction by taking part in a bet. Those who can't help themselves and give into their addictions have to pay the price for it.

I think addicted to positive stuff is fairly fine like you, you are addicted to playing football, I don't see it is such a bad thing that you need to GET RID of it, iut is not like smoking and drinking those stuff that makes you have medical problems. But if you want to reduce the addiction, I would suggest you do dig other stuff to do to try to forget the other stuff.

i have many addictions, but mine aren't very permanent XD like i'll be super addicted to one thing and then if i don't do it for a day, i lose interest in it slowly, until i no longer am addicted to it, OR i find a new addiction to go crazy about XD And then sometimes, if i come back to it, the process would start alll over again =)
i was addicted to playing the sims just a while back, and i haven't been playing it for a while now after that initial addiction XD (where i spent days just playing it) so yeah
my way of "breaking" addictions would be to leave it along for a period of time , and if i can get out of the habit of not doing it for a day, then i can get rid of that addiction =)
well thats the way i think i work at least XD

Diet soda and flavored coffee. At least I have the sense to make my coffee at home.

I'm addicted to eating iceblocks and being on the computer, and also reading.
For lent though I gave up iceblocks. Lets hope I can make it through the 40 day period!
I would have atleast 3 ice blocks every single day, even if it was the middle of winter and it is freezing cold and I'm infront of a heater.
When your addicted, you don't really care, you just keep doing it.

Yeah you are quit right that playing games is an addictionand most importantly addictions are really hard to get rid off. I also keep on playing games on my computer but i can`t help it i just love it i keep playing it but wht i have noticed is that i play when i am free or i don`t have anything else to do so i think to get rid off addictions is to divert your mind to something else.....

i like running, table tennis, listening to the music from the beginning to the end, history, etc,
u can say it's additions. if u like to do things, u'll try ur best to fulfill them, and continually redo them. maybe u dont konw why u wanna do, and an unknow power forces u to.

I am addicted to books! Can't help myself from buying especially when I'm inside second-hand bookstores where almost everything is cheap!
And no, I don't want to break the habit (even though my hubby's complaining that our house looks more like a library than a home LOL) because it gives me joy to have books around me. Besides, I read each and every one of them so it's a good kind of addiction in my humble opinion :)

I have a book addiction and i dont want to break it...there are seriously worse things to be addicted to. Although sometimes it gets out of hand when i spend more on books that i should. Its why i do surveys and the like to get money or gift cards that goes to supplying my habit.

Hello there, my adictions are video games too, and also eating, a lot i just love food. The thing is that if you fall into the wild extreme od addiction, then you must ask for help to break it, but if its in the average limit, I guess its even good.

My addiction is going out to eat. I would rather spend my last dollar on two tacos that I did not have to cook, rather than make a home cooked meal. I enjoy going to eat with my family and being waited on. It seems so much easier and I find it to be a bonding experience. The problem is that it is hard on my wallet and not good for my figure. I have given up going out to eat for Lent. I figure if I can give up going out to eat for forty days, I can reduce the amount of time and money spent on eating out for the rest of the year. I just hope I can stick to my goal.

As far as addictions go I would have to say that I have several. I too am addicted to playing games on-line, or just doing anything on-line in general. LOL! I'm also a coffeeholic as I tend to drink coffee from the time I get up until the time I got to bed, and I smoke like a chimney lately because of stress due to my divorce, my parents divorce, and having two grandparents in and out of the hospital (one whose been in for a month now). Lastly, I am a complete junk food junky as I cannot seem to get enough sweets, which I don't mind as I have a really hard time gaining weight, so it doesn't really phase me much.
But I don't think anything will keep me from the Internet as I'm not one to watch too much TV, so I try to address my other "addictions" as best I can. I've switched my decaffeinated coffee to half-calf, which has made some difference that I can see, as well as I have gotten a prescription from my doctor for medication to help me quit smoking since I know that is bad for me as well. Lastly, since I do LOVE my junk food, I do try to mix in some healthy sweets, such as yogurt, fruits, etc. So while I can't completely quit doing these things, at least I'm not really a slave to my addictions anymore.. or at least not to any of them but being on-line. LOL!!
