I am NOT a Justin Timberlake fan! Or am I?

To be a Justin Timberlake fan would be to imply I like his music, right? I mean, he is a singer, known for his music. Yet, I can't even tell you the name of the boy band he used to sing with. The stuff he has done as a single act, not my cup of tea.
But, I think he is hilarious and so fun to watch. His Saturday Night Live appearances are a hoot, and I have loved every interview show I have ever seen him on. He has the wit and timing of a comedian. He was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last week, and his impersonations of John Mayer and others were out of this world.
So my dilemma... do I call myself a JT fan, when I really don't like his music at all?
Do you find yourself in a similar situation as this with anyone? Got examples.

Hi Pots! I guess, you are not a fan just someone who admires the wit or character of Justin Timberlake. I think a fan is someone who like his music, support most of his concerts, buys most of his records and support his music career to the best of her/his ability. I do admire a lot of celebrities for their uniqueness, intelligence, fashion sense and many more but I don't consider myself a fan of these celebrities. Just my thoughts.
Take care and blessings to you!

Hi, faith. You know how I value your thoughts. I think you are probably right, I'm not really a fan, just appreciate some of his talents.

Oh My sis - trust you to ask an awkward question! lol I would say that you like Justin Timberlake as a person but aren't a fan of his music! I don't think I have been in this situation as such but there are people whose Music I have liked whilst not liking what I know of that person at all, like Michael Jackson - that man is a musical genius but not the type of person that I would like to spend time with! I would definitely never call myself a Michael Jackson fan. I tend to think of a fan as someone who likes everything about the person they are a fan of and also probably knows everything about them too as they are fanatical about them! xxx

LOL I think it means you like him honey but not that you are a fan! Now that we have averted the disaster of my beloved sister being a Justin Trousersnake fan I can relax a bit!
I think you may have mentioned it once or twice - you really know how to make me feel good!
I love you loads and am glad to be back! xxxx

Oh my lovely sis - trust you to get right to the heart of an awkward question. I understand exactly what you are saying about Michael Jackson and agree with it all. That was the jest of what I am getting at. Can I call myself a fan of someone who entertains me on the one hand yet who's life work means nothing to me. I think not. I think I am not a fan but would likely not miss an opportunity to allow him to make me laugh. Hmmm, kind of typical of me in laugh actually.
Have I mentioned that I love having you around here again?? xxx

I am NOT a fan of him musically but his acting personality and him in general I'd say I'm a fan of..He really is a total riot as far as I'm concerned...Its the same with Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson..I'm NOT a fan of him as a wrestler..but his acting is really damn good IMO and I have enjoyed every movie of his that I've seen..ESPEICALLY comedies he's been in..he's too funny..

I agree that he's a riot.
I don't know if I've seen any Dwayne Johnson movies, but he is sure easy on the eyes.

Hi makingposts, i think you don't have to like his music just to be his fan. Justin are one of those artists that well known not only for his music. Well, his music are the most stuff he did, but he still known as other job too. Like you mention on saturday night live. He is really funny, i'm agree with you. I'm too, not quite fan for his music. Some of them I like, some of them I don't. But i love seeing him on the stage for interview show or being a host. He had those capability for attracting people by being funny or saying some briliant answers. ^__^
So it's okay...You're a fan of JT...LOL..

I think it's fine to respect a person but not like their music. I respect Sheryl Crow, she's done a lot of positive things for humanity and seems like a good hearted person, but I just can't stand her music. There are many people like that.

Sheryl Crow is good example. There is a song or two of her's that I can tolerate but in general I don't like her stuff.

Yeah, same here, there's a song or two that are okay, but I think the biggest problem is the radio over plays them, so I get tired of hearing them very quickly. Most of them I don't like to begin with, then the radio over plays them, and I feel like I could scream if I hear that song 1 more time!!

I am not a Justin Timberlake fan either but I like some of his songs. I think likeing some songs or songs from him dose not make you a fan of his. I think it was Backstreet boys or NSYNC band he was in. I just know from the magazines and talkshows and TMZ stuff and celeberty stuff.

I think the band was NSync. I know this not because I was a fan of him but more that I have a guilty pleasure of celebrity gossip and stuff so I know lots of useless information and I have been on the Perez Hilton blog!!! Ahhhh I admit it!
Whew! But I understand what you mean about him being funny. I got a good laugh out of the Saturday Night Live Beyonce single ladies song and the Christmas "in a box" song. Also he was the only funny thing in Love guru which was hard to watch, it was so bad, but being Canadian and knowing many people from Quebec I loved the way he played the role.
So I am in the same boat that I can't say I love JT, so I would have to say no, not a fan, but not a hater.

I do like Justin Timberlake's music. But I also find him to be very funny as well. He is one of the best Saturday Night Live guests. He is actually funny and actually helps to make the skits that he is in really funny too. I don't think you need to be a fan of everything someone does to be a fan. I like Madona's music but her acting not so much.

He started out with the new Mickey Mouse club (with Spears, Aguliara, J.C., from his group N'Synch, and a few others). He is a natural actor and quite talented, from a very young age. You should look on Youtube for him in the Mickey Mouse Club to see him as a youngster.

I do remember now the Mickey Mouse background and the Britney connections. Wasn't aware Aguliara was put of that gang.
Thanks for adding these links they were fun to watch. He is quite talented is he not? And from a very yound age.... I guess that is why he seems so natural.

I had many dance students show incredible talent from a very young age and make it in the field. You really are born with it.

in my opinion you can be a fan of part of his talents and not others so it would be correct to say you are a fan but i would also add that i like X about him.. not his music etc

Hi, makingpots. I am not sure but I think we are the same. I mean, I would never admit to liking Justin Timberlake -- his clothes, his dance moves, his music -- uh oh, I do not think so. But I have seen him sing and dance a couple of times on TV and I was really really amazed at this kid's talent. He is really good. So I guess my stand lol! I think is that I would never deliberately seek him out but I have great respect for him and his talent. Have a nice day!

I would say yes you are a fan, if a person has many talents they deserve to have fans in each category. The band he was in was N'Sync! I personally haven't been in a simular situation at least not one that I can think of.
