Are you against illegal music download?
Maybe if musical albums weren't so expensive (at least in my country they are) people would buy them more and wouldn't need to download them from, for example, P2P (pear-to-pear) programs.
What's you opinion?
Do you know any site where you can download music legally?

You know prices are going up because distributors and publishers don't get their moneys worth due to illegal distribution of music on the internet :P
I do download music, usually from video sites like youtube etc. Have no idea how legit it is but it is already out there, so technically I am not doing anything wrong - right? I am not sharing. Anyway.
I am not against illegal downloads. I think it's a stupid law in the first place. And recently whatever companies are working pro copyright have suggested ACTA - "Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement"
Where in one of the cases they are actually allowed to search through your laptop and USB memory sticks, DVDs etc when travelling. (You can read more about it on Wikipedia:

Mind you most artist aren't against it either, since they already make so little money from album sales anyway and prefer that you buy their music online where they get a bigger share of it. Also free music is the best promotion and publicity I say.
I don't know how it is with movies, but that's a different discussion :)

I agree with you, free music is the best publicity. Many artists I knew by downloading their music, although I never had heard about them before, and start loving it! Like for example James Morrison. He's my favorite singer and heard him for the first on internet. And you wanna know why artists make so little money from their albums? It's not only because of illegal downloading, because they sell very good the same, if not their albums weren't getting double platinum. It's because their music publishers are getting most of the profit! A friend of mine who is in the music business told me the artists only get like 15% of the incoming!

15% is good compared to what I heard.
I heard artists got like $1 per $10-$15 CD.
I guess it pays off if they sell double platinum though hah, anyway, There are a few sites where all the money go immediately to the artist. Magnatude is one, I might have spelled it wrong. But no record lable inbetween :)

I'm not against downloading illegal music, but I am paranoid now given all of the turmoil and possible law changes in my province. They are actually thinking of getting internet providers to report their own users when there is suspicious download activity. I use Itunes now and only download some stuff (but I pay for it). I also listen to satelite radio, so don't have much use for downloading music anymore. I used to use Limewire but there are plenty of viruses on there, you need a good anti virus program. Also, Bitlord is a "torrent" site, you need to download some free software to use it and it also has plenty of movies, ebooks, etc.
