I lost my job almost 2 months ago. This recession is the worst thing i've seen in all my years. i live in one of the last places to experience the recession but was one of the first in my company to go. apparently, these big companies are getting rid of higher paid employees first. this is really awful! i'm used to working 10-12 hours a day. i have looked and looked but there isn't anything out there. i hope this stimulus package helps the situation. in the meantime, i try to keep busy and keep my mind off it.

I was working from home for medical reasons. It was a job that I was doing before the medical issues, except I was gratful I was able to do it from home. But, do to the recession my boss was no longer able to pay me. This was over a year ago. I live in the California where it hit first and also hit the worst.
I just want it to end. I can't take the stress of not being able to make money I need, especially because of my current limitations.
I hope this stimulus package helps too. It seems like the people who have been working the hardest and need help the most have been getting the short end of the stick. Hopefully it will change that. You should hear all the stuff they are doing in my state to get more money for the state. They need to take advice from Robinhood (take from the rich, give to the poor) Because they are doing the opposite .
Keeping busy, to keep your mind off is a good idea. I also try not to watch the news. They always like to put a scary spin to everything and I think it quitely seeps into you and causes more stress.
I truly wish you lots of luck in finding another job!!!

Yes, I lost my job last year. After I lost my job, I work at home for a part time translator. But the income is too low because of the economic cirsis. So now I would like to find a full time job relating to translation. God bless me!

I was made redundant from a job in October of last year. It wasn't economy based (well not really) the company just decided to move the workers offshore to the Philipines. For me, it's been a lucky chance. I've had the opportunity to do something completely different and am so much happier!
I hope things look up for you. Do you have anything you can sell on Ebay or places like Etsy? Homemade is all the rage right now :)

My fiance has been laid off for almost three months now. They haven't recieved a call back date, and the company is continuing to layoff, as more business around here layoff. It isn't looking good for our small towns. The main problem is that there aren't any jobs my fiance could get that match the pay he was making before. And we can't afford for him to go less on his pay. We are just making it now. The economy is really effecting a lot of people in the area in which I am living.

Aw man, that's too bad. Are you in upper management? I think that only the upper management get in trouble when it comes to work. I am a new hire so I am very thankful for the opportunity to be able to work for a good company with competitive salary. I don't think my friends are suffering from the bad economy either. Maybe when we're all older we'll be more affected by the economic changes.

I am very sorry to hear that many people losing their jobs due to recession.Even one of my friends lost his job and he has a family. He felt miserable and not knowing the way to support the family. But as he was very efficient person and experienced he got a job again with not a great salary like before. What I feel is each and everyone should learn frugal living and defenitely learn to save something every month. As this practice would save them at the times of crisis. Thanks for sharing.happy mylotting.

Hi, your story is very interesting. I am a student at Xavier University of Louisiana and for my Radio/Television class we're doing a group assignment where we pick a theme and find people to interview who have been in that situation. We will be recording the interviews- i believe through phone or on Skype. Our theme is "Lost"- losing your job to losing your way on the road, etc. I was wondering if we could interview you. If your interested and don't mind, you can contact me at c5hong07@gmail.com or give me a comment back. Thanks.

I still have a job and so does my husband. But yep this economy looks really crummy. I have a friend who lost her job in October and isn't having much luck looking for one. My company's doing some outsourcing also and so a lot of people are getting let go here. Scary.

i worked for a small auto repair shop. the owner only owned it for about 2 years when all of a sudden business started going downhill and he had to close it. i knew we were not in good shape but i really expected things to pick up. he had gone out and taken a consulting job about 6 months before we closed and i was so naive i thought he was telling me the truth that it was temporary. i lost my job right before christmas and it felt like a relief because it was so depressing at the end. the phone had stopped ringing and we knew things were bad. i have looked for work but there is really not much out there. i am collecting unemployment but i know someday i am going to have to find something and i am scared. i try to distract myself. i don't think that this stimulus package is going to help me get a new job. i keep up on stuff and i really don't see where this is going to help most people that i know. i hope that i am proved wrong but i feel negative about it.

I lost my job during last December(2008).
I was working very well. I don't even know what went wrong, I heard some in the first week of December that Company will force to paper down. In the second week there was a meeting and after that compensation of few employees was reduced by 15%.
Then in third week there was another meeting in which I was told shift from my current working location to some location away from my house.
I just requested that it will be difficult for me to go over there because it will take me around 2 hours to reach there.
Then it was a do or die situation for me.
Hence I left my job.

I lost my job a long time ago, so long ago that sometimes I remember it better than what it actually was. The recession has added to the negative impact, but I'm doing the best I can. I am finding sites similar to mylot, subbing and trying to earn a dime here and there to get my debts paid off. I hope the recession will end soon, and jobs will be plentiful again.
