Saving for Christmas 2009 already!

Am I the only one who is already thinking about next Christmas? I have a big bag of books and stocking filler presants stashed away.
I'm saving my online earnings towards buying presants.
Christmas 2008 was such a struggle financially, I decided to start extra early this year. So hopefully by the time Christmas comes around this year I will be all done! Is anyone else making preperations already? Do you have any great tips?

You're awesome! I've heard that some people keep lists in notebooks so that when someone casually mentions something that they would want, the person puts that item on the list for that specific person. Or they keep a picture of that item and some possible places to purchase that item in a sheet protector in a notebook for a specific person. I have a friend who would put away a certain dollar amount each week / month towards gifts for her children when they were young so the end of the year would not be a financial disaster. Good luck to you! We should all be so organized!

The notebook idea is a really good idea! I never thought of that!
Would make buying gifts alot easier!

I will be more prepared for Christmas this year. I have already made a few gifts for family members to place on their trees. I will not be spending much money on gifts, and family members will be getting a lot of the same. I will be giving a lot of lotions, washes, and soaps, and most will be free to me because I'll be using coupons and shopping the sales. The best tip I have is to make your plans early, and don't leave your shopping until the last minute.

I've thought about it. I'm trying to save more money now than I have before. One suggestion I have is if you have a checking account, open up a savings account with ING Direct. It's an online bank and it's so easy to set up. There are no fees and I earn a pretty high interest rate on the money I have in the bank.
You can set up an account with them with a small amount, and then whenever you get paid, move the money from your paypal or from your checking account into your ING savings account. The money will really collect some interest from now until holiday time.

It's always to be prepared than struggling towards it. I am quite lucky that we don't have to spend a lot around here to celebrate Christmas because we seldom buy each other gifts. I think saving a certain amount each month would be nice, also, you could choose to buy the presents early when it's on sale, so you don't have to spend everything all at once.

It's such a huge expense. And as the kids are getting older they want more expensive items.
It'll just be nice to have one christmas where I'm not stressing that I haven't got the money!

This is a good idea of getting ready for Christmas and saving your online earnings. I haven't thought of anything yet on Christmas but i would like to also buy things little by little.
I can't say much on the tip, i also wonder how to send the gifts to my loved ones since there is no door to door delivery of packages in this country yet unlike in the middle east. Looking forward to other mylotters if they know anything about sending one box package to Philippines from India. Happy Mylotting!

I haven't even pondered Christmas gifts yet. I'm moreso looking forward what I need to save up for "back to school" supplies and fees for fall. As we don't always have the money depending on if busy season at hubby's work has started.
But it's always good to think ahead and if you don't have snoopy kids like mine buy ahead and hide the items well, just not well enough that you don't remember *LOL*
