Are you who we think you are on Mylot?

I was wondering yesterday, as I was typing some personal discussions here on Mylot, how many of you open up and pour your heart out? Do you let your secrets be known, your feelings, your problems and issues or do you hide them? Are you more of a private person who doesn't talk about personal issues here? Where do you think the line should be drawn when it comes to talking honestly about personal issues?

Hi coffee', I tend to be a fairly private person and am not in the habit of opening up all my probs to everyone, sometimes I may but not many times and it isn't cos I don't trust my friends but I am the person you read, I have no false pretences and what I write is always the truth or advice so what you get behind my responses and discussions is the real me..littleowl

I don't have a whole lot of personal issues - you know, the kind where you have lots of angst and need advice, probably because I don't have man trouble or spouses or any of those things

I tend to say more on Gather than I do on Mylot, because I know the community better, and if I change my mind about a post I can block or delete it, and only publish it to certain people, if i want. With mylot i don't have that option. However what I do say on here is absolutely true.

Gather sounds interesting. I like the idea of being able to block/delete posts. I've never heard of Gather...

I'm exactly who I present myself to be here and I do share some personal information, experiences and feelings when that's called for. I don't have many personal problems but I have shared some things with the folks here. I think the line is an individual decision based on each member's comfort level.

I do not think that most of us are prepared to reveal everything on myLot or any other similar or social sites. Usually I prefer keeping things to myself. But I am an ordinary mortal and have my limits. So far I have mentioned about things which have been bugging me for years with no real solutions in sight. There have been helpful myLotters but unfortunately I have tried all the suggestions before this. Most of the time I reveal what I think is necessary at any particular time. Many will still get the wrong impression but that is a part of life which I hae to accept gracefully. After all there is no guarantee others will see the true image if I were to expose everything. I believe many of us have a skeleton in the closet. all the best, rosdimy

I am pretty much who I say I am on here. I don't let all my secrets out on here (not that I have many LOL), but do share experiences from my life that I think may help others who are going through the same thing or have been through certain things in their lives. Out of all the friends on my list, I would say there is one or two that know me more than what I've said online, because we have conversed through email about personal issues and sorts.

For the most part, yes. Though some things I keep hidden. Although I share a lot of things on here I don't feel comfortable sharing everything on here about my personal life.

I think different people are more comfortable with dfferent levels of openness, I am most comfortable being honest and open about myself, my family , what we do etc wheras other people might not be. I think we should all do what makes us feel good as long as we don't hurt anyone else in the process. I feel i am who I am and that comes through here on mylot - I think! xxx

I don't lie on myLot, but I'm fairly guarded about my personal life when I'm here. I suppose that's just like me in real life! If someone asked a question where I thought my personal experience would help then I'd write about it, but I wouldn't feel comfortable just dumping all my personal issues on people otherwise. Some of the personal stuff I see written here makes me wince. It reminds me of those people who have personal conversations about their love lifes on a mobile phone on a crowded train! Generally the people who write that sort of stuff aren't people I have on my friend list though, and I'm quite happy with the level of honesty I encounter here day to day.

Hi coffeeshot. I answered and posted based on my feelings, reactions and experiences. So far I havent posted any particular issues that im dealing with in real life. Maybe I havent thought about posting it or maybe i was able to deal with it. Maybe sometime in the future, I might post here some problems that i cant be able to deal with, to ask opinions or advices from mylotters.

I always try to be true to who i am when i type. I mean honestly if im not...then what I'm staying, ultimately, wont help anyone. Thats my lot in life(sad pun...i know) is in life...to help people whether it be with a personal problem or with something slightly more significant. So when i share something here or anywhere else...im really telling you how i feel or my real opinion or real advice. Does me nor the person im directing any statement at any real good if im not true to who i am.

Whether with or without a personal avater, the discussions and responses speak loud of the mylotter. I never conplain about my personal upsets on the site, but my responses are usually based on my knowledge and experiences Some members expressed negative opinions on personal complaints. My observations is if one chooses this resort, should not be objected, as long as it helps.

I'm who you see. Of course, who you see is just a part of me...and I'm quite happy to let people assume that that's all that I am. It's a little tiring, correcting people all the time. I try to only do it when I think it'll be worthwhile and potentially enlightening in a more educational sense. I'm a bit private, sure. But you can be open and word things carefully and still mean every word. I don't really have secrets, but that doesn't mean I like to gab about the darkest parts of my life all the time, or the mostintimate details closest to my heart. I will, on occasion, talk about it. But it's all within reason and depending on what strikes me at the time. The internet's not much different from real life in this way. It depends on how much you want to know me. *shrugs* I find it educating just to observe people, especially those who're hiding something. It's very educating and teaches me alot about people.

Hi coffeshot! There are those times that I share some personal stuff here but most often I just want to keep things light in my discussion and responses if possible. There are times however that I can't help it but really open up my heart on some private matters. There are some things too that I just want to keep private. Take care and blessings to you! lovelots..faith

I'm honest on this site. I dont exactly pour out extreame personal issues. Usually just conserens that I have I will discuss on here, which arent too personal. I do however keep to myself and dont really like many people to know my life and personal problems.

I share no secrets and am careful what I say. Any of this can be copied so there is stuff that is not the business of anyone else. I think that some stuff is better off left unsaid.

I don't pretend to be someone different - but I rarely post discussions because everybody else's are far more interesting. My life is pretty run of the mill and humdrum - no big secrets, no great scandals - but I do post the funny things which happen in my personal blog.
