What time is a good time for bedtime for a 5 year old.
We currently have her bedtime set at 7:00, because she gets up at 5:30am each morning. I know that sleep is important and I don't want her lossing out on something that she needs because of my work schedule. However, lately we put her to bed and she just lays there and does not sleep.
So what time is a good time for a 5 year old that wakes up at 5:30 am each day?

just like people, kids have diffenrent sleeping habits and their bodies need different amounts of sleep. my son (6 now)goes to sleep around 9:30 (sometimes earlier or later)and gets up around 6:30. one thing is you have to listen to your child(and watch them). with my son, we fought him and fought him trying to get him into bed. we found out that he's is just like the Energizer bunny, he has to run his batteries completely out. which works good for him, because he sleeps soundly.

my 5 year old son, I have bath time at 7pm then out the bath at 7-30 get dressed etc etc
then we have the bed time story which takes us upto about 8pm then off to sleep.
Works a dream and he usually wakes up about 7-30 in the morning ready for school.

to be honest all kids are different I think its the routiene that is the important thing,
aslong as shes getting enough sleep and your happy with the times then go with the flow,
Everyone is different tho if you want to change her bed time do it gradually maybe 10 mins a night till its 8pm or what ever time you want her to go to bed.

any school age child it's best to have them sleep at least 8-12 hours at night. less and less of coarse when they are older.

Try adjusting her bedtime by 1/2 hr until you get it right. I'm thinking 9 hours is enough--but play with her bedtime a bit and see what happens....good luck!
