Do you enjoy a good Subway Sandwich?

I have found with the economy the way it is, that I will occasionally get a Subway sandwich foot long for $5.00. This sandwich can last me up to 3 meals, maybe 4. It is healthy for me. This I only do on a rare occasion, which gives me a change of pace. I sometimes get the foot long sub and eat 1/2 and then drop off 1/2 by my husband who is working. It is a nice switch for him. I love to have a turkey sub, with the mixed shredded cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce. Their turkey is the best. Plus I love their Italian bread.

I am another Subway fan, and I like them even better now that they are only $5.00!! However I must confess that I am quite sick of the commercials! My favorite sub is the cold cut combo on honey oat bread with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, and sweet onion sauce. OHH yummm now I am hungry for a $5.00 $5.00 $5.00 footloooonggg.

LOL, that sure sounds good. I will have to give some of the others a try, I always stick pretty much with my turkey. Thank you for commenting.

If you have never tried the sweet onion sauce it is a must! Gives the sub a great different taste. I get the sweet onion on all the subs that I get from there now. Its really good on the tuna sub too.

Is that sweet onion a sauce, or are you just talking about the purple onions. My girlfriend gets them on her subs, and she loves them. I will have to try some next time, just lightly. Hugs Mary

Subway is one of my favorite places to eat. I am so glad they are selling all subs for five bucks now. I eac subway about once a week. My favorite is the subway melt on Italian herbs and cheese bread with lettuce, onions, pickles and mayo. I could take or leave the pickles, it's delicious either way.

What is on the Subway melt other than what you have listed? It sure sounds good. Thank you so much for commenting.

Ohhh, that sounds absolutely delicious. I definitely will give that a try. Thank you so much for letting me know what is in it. Sometimes it is better to ask people, then have to read the subway list of sandwiches, LOL.

I like Subway but I have found that some of them are better than others. My hubby doesn't like to go because the one close to his old job didn't put hardly anything on the sandwiches. If you asked for more, they would say they couldn't do that. I told him most are not like that and will build the sandwich to please the customer. I think it all evens out anyway since you have so many people that do not like tomatoes, or mayonaise, mustard, hot peppers, etc. The $5.00 footlong deal is great! We sometimes do that for lunch and then I have lunch for the following day too. Sometimes the saved half gets a bit soggy so better to have someone to split it with on the spot! I love the fresh baked bread too! I like the parmesean best, but switch it up on visits too.

If you want to save for another day. Have them only put the mayo on one side, then you won't have soggy bread the next day. They sure do make delicious subs. They can not add extra on the $5.00 subs. The premium subs, and the double meat, are not $5.00 subs.

Thank you for the best response--what a surprise! I usually just ask for extra lettuce and they add that with no problem. I don't like mayo on my sandwiches anymore. It was one of the things I took out of my diet when I started this clinical trial to lose weight. I do have extra mustard added though, so I guess that is why they end up soggy or from the tomatoes. Have a great evening!

Yeah, I like me a good subway sandwich. I haven't been there in a long time, though. I like that southwestern something or another one.

I love subway and actually, eat there quite often. We have 4 locations in my town and one only 2mins away from me. 5bucks is great for a fast food meal that is extremely healthy for you. My hubby isn't that big of a fan of subway for some reason. Whenever I can talk him into subway, thats where we are headed. I love the Ham sub on their new 9Wheat bread. I get almost all the veggies (I miss the spinach) and no cheese, or dressing. I eat lowfat and I don't like to add these unhealthy extras. Or I just eat a Veggie sub. I can eat almost a whole foot long if I don't get chips and a drink with it.

They definitely are healthy for eating. Hmmm, we still have spinach at our Subway, you will have to check with them and see if and why they don't have the spinach. My husband isn't totally nuts about Subway either, but he will eat a sandwich if I drop on off at work for him. We have 2 locations in our town, and a Cousin subs.

Mary, you are reading my mind. We drove the Orlando today for a few days, and this is an article, I wrote a few minutes ago. I can't paste it because I haven't written enough. It is on examiner.com, under my name Susan Slade, Pasco County Food Examiner, and it is about Subway. I will email you it. Susie.

Hi Susie, Glad to hear from you. Aren't they just the best Sandwiches? They are good for diabetics as well. I am sure Len enjoys them too. My girlfriend and I will go there when we are together, and they have the right amount of carbs for her. They are healthy for eating as well. I will look up your article, thank you Susie Hugs Mary

I love Subway. I have since the new year, been working a lot on my weight and my health. So, I have been eating more subway and less mcdonalds. I love their italian bread as well. But, I like the roast beef and turkey sub with light mayo, tomato, and shredded cheese.

Hi I have tried the one that has I think 7 grains in it. It is really good. I have had several kinds. But my favorite is Turkey with shredded mixed cheese, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes with mayo.

I think Subway is a good value though the only thing I ever get there is tuna. I don't eat there often but it is good to know I have the option in a pinch. I don't eat too many sandwiches because I don't like to overdo it on the bread and tuna from a can isn't my first choice either. But, like I said, in a pinch...

I don't eat their often either, but like you said it is good to know in a pinch, or when spending time out with the hubby or a friend.

I was looking for something quick and cheap for me and my honey yesterday and I remembered Subway. I usually get the six inch so we got the $5 tuna and two bags of chips and had lunch for $7 and change! Now if that's not a deal when eating out I don't what is! I wouldn't do that often as stated before but a couple times a month would be ok and way cheaper than buying the supplies to make the sandwiches!

Thank you for commenting. Try a sub made with what you like on it. And not all the extra stuff. I started out mine plain, and slowly added.
