Do You Go Out Of Your Way To Shop At WalMart

We live in an area where luckily there are a lot of WalMarts to choose from to shop at. We have to drive at least 10 miles or there about to the closest one, but there are also 3 or 4 that are really close to us like this as well. Most of them are Super WalMarts which is what we like the Best as well. But we are one of those people who can be traveling down I-5 or somewhere else, and if we have extra time or $$ and see a WalMart sign, we will go out of our way just to stop there and Shop just to be able to say we shopped at a WalMart. I feel they offer a lot of Great deals and bargains and personally I think you can never tell what you are going to find at each one, as I think the assortment of stuff they offer versus the price changes as well. So are you a WalMart shopper, and do you find yourself going out of the way sometimes just to shop at a different one as well? ~~TINA~~

There are three walmarts we can choose to go shopping at in my home town here in Florida. I think they are all around 5 miles from the house, pretty funny. We alwyas seems to go to the same one though as we know that one the best when we go looking for a certain item. I am a walmart shopper and i think everyone wh ois rich or poor go to walmart. Im glad there are three to choose from in my town. ENjoy Mylotting

It is always nice to have more than one to choose from. Even when one is closer it gives you pride to know that there is another one close you can go too if you need too as well.

We have various brands of supermarket at easy reach. Chinese, german, french and the late american. They have different special features, and I like to go to each for my needs. Chinese for low price, german for large lumps, french for delicate and imported, and american for food. The coexistence of multiple choices are making our life easier and a lot fun.

I am a Walmart shopper too, in fact I was at the local Walmart shopping with my mom today. It is true that other Walmart's have different items, it is fun to go to different stores.

No. I have one just a couple of blocks away and that is the one that I go to. I know that there is another one but it is too far out of the way and not good because I am reducing gas costs. I really dont need to because this is a super Walmarts anyway. I can generaly find what I am looking for.

When WalMart first came to Baltimore, Maryland, where I was living, the closest one was about 4 miles from my home. I shopped there for the obvious savings, although it was not a Super Center. But, as time went by, I became increasingly disillusioned with that store. It became trashy and disorganized. The employees were becoming more and more rude, as well as more and more foreign, to the point where I couldn't even ask a simple question because some of them couldn't understand English! Unbelieveable! Luckily, a new WalMart had been built 6 miles farther away, in another county. It was larger, cleaner and the employees were always friendly. From that point on, I went the 10 miles to that WalMart for all but my grocery needs (fresh veggies, fruits and meats). These days, though, I'm pretty fed up with WalMart. I've had so many problems at their pharmacy, I could never list them all! My last prescription from WalMart is what I called "the prescription from hell" because it took me two full weeks for WalMart to get it straightened out. It was unbelieveable... what was such a simple prescription, they couldn't get right for two entire weeks! Oh, I still break down and pick up quick things at WalMart, although it goes against my principles. The thing is, it's the closest store of it's kind anywhere near us. It is almost seven miles from our home and the next closest grocery store is 12 miles from here. With my husband being out of work for the past three months, we need to save as much money as we can so I've had to swallow my pride and shop at WalMart. I get my prescriptions from Costco, which is probably about 15 miles away, but ridding myself of the aggravation I normally got at WalMart's pharmacy is soooooo worth it! I'll start getting everything from Costco soon because my husband was just hired for a new job this morning, with better benefits AND better pay! So, I won't have to worry about a few extra miles per trip. I'll still be frugal, to be sure, because you never know when you'll need money to fall back on but, to avoid that aggravation, it's worth it to shop somewhere else. Oh, one more thing... I've shopped in WalMarts in 6 States so far and I have to say that I've never met a grumpy WalMart employee except in the very first WalMart I've ever shopped in.

Have you thought about filling your prescriptions by mail? Some insurances offer that option, and let you get three months at a time. I am glad your hubby is going back to work. That is good news.

Gerty, thanks! I'm so very happy that he's going to be working full-time again. He'll also be getting a different insurance that what he had and what we kept on me because of my problems. We'll be getting BC/BS, so I'll definitely be looking into that mail thing. I don't know why I haven't done it sooner! With so many meds that I take on an ongoing basis, it sure is worth looking into! Thanks so much for the reminder!!! Muscles, it makes me sick, too, to realize that us natural born Americans can't get some jobs simply because we are doing what we've done all our lives... speak English! I believe that's why my youngest son is having trouble finding work right now, one reason anyway. My oldest son works at WalMart and he sees Mexicans getting jobs there left and right, while my son, born right here in America, can't get a job there. He applied first back in October and, since than, many Mexicans have been hired by WalMart. My other son has the inside scoop on when jobs will be opening and my youngest son always reapplies right away, but still the Mexicans get the jobs. I'm thinking maybe WE all ought to move to Mexico, since it MUST be practically empty by now! I heard a joke once, which really isn't funny when you think about it... "A survey was taken to find out how many Mexicans want to come to the United States. The survey found that 50% of all Mexicans want to come to America.... The other 50% are already here!" Our government MUST put a temporary freeze on granting work visas for foreigners, at least until every American who wants to work, IS working. It's not fair and, I believe, it should be a crime that our government continues to allow foreigners to come here, get jobs and send most of the money they make back to relatives in their native countries. I don't mind anyone coming to our country to find work when there IS work over and above what Americans have. But, when each and every new job opening has at least 400 applications, that tells me that something MUST be done for American citizens first! What's that thing in the Bible, "Remove the log from your own eye so you can see to remove it from your neighbor's eye"... something like that. Even though a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders, and those of my husband's, I still get angry every time I see or hear the horror stories from American citizens who have lost their jobs because of the recession, while Mexicans (among other foreigners) are getting jobs without any intention of becoming American citizens. Our Constitution begins with "WE the people..." Whatever happened to that? It seems the people of our country have no say whatsoever. Grrrr! Sorry, Tina, I didn't mean to turn this into a political thread. It's just that part of our economic downfall is due to our government continuing to grant work visas while American citizens are losing their homes, their jobs and their dignity and WalMart is one of the biggest promoters of this injustice.

I live within 15 miles of three different Wal-Marts. Actually Wal-Mart is about your only option for a department store around here. There is a Kmart that is about 30 miles from where we live. We do have a variety of grocery stores but not department stores. Actually it is out of our way to go anywhere else!

I go out of my way to make sure that I don't have to shop at Wal-Mart. If I have to go to different places, and pay a bit more, I'd rather do that, than shop at Wal-Mart. I have no interest in shopping at Wal-Mart at all.

Now we have a Wal-Mart in the town we live in, but for five years we drove about 35 miles to shop at Wal-Mart.

I love shopping at Wal-mart. The nearest walmart is about 15 miles away. I'm there every weekend. We really don't go out of our way to shop at walmart. But when we go to the mall, which is about an hour away, we do shop at one of the near by walmarts. Every walmart does have different deals.

I do shop at walmart, if I can't find what I want at the Dollar Tree or K-Mart, but I don't find myself going out of my way to go to a Walmart just to shop. For one thing my time is very limited and I have to weight whether my time is worth it or not.

Actually, I try really hard to avoid them as much as possible. I don't like how they do business. Sure they offer lower prices but they drive other companies right out of business. When they came to our town, their prices were very very low. Soon other department stores in town began closing. They weren't as big and could not compete. Gradually, the prices began going up on many items. Currently they are expanding their food line and I'm sure it won't be long before our grocery stores will be going under.

Sadly no I don't have to go very far. I can see the lights from their parking lot thru the trees in winter. Upon occasion we go to super wal-mart wich is an hour away if we are there for other business in that area. Otherwise there are about 5 wal-marts that I know of in about 30 minutes away from here. The one in the next city over has a better variety of fabrics and yarn so we do go to that one from time to time. They just opened that one last year.

I used to have to go out of my way to shop at a Walmart. I have a few friends that are very against their business practices. But, they can't argue with me that there are some things that you just can't find at the prices Walmart sells them for. Primarily, I'm talking about their over the counter medications. I can buy my allergy meds for a fraction of the cost of anywhere else. So I would plan a trip out to thesuburbs once a month and stock up on things that I need. Now, there are a couple that are a relatively short distance away. No super-walmarts, but that's ok.

We use to go to Walmart for a lot of our groceries, but now we don't. You can get better deals at stores like Harris Teeter, Food Lion and Bloom if you use coupons at the right time. Think of getting 14 boxes of eggo waffles for $1.00. People under estimate the true power of coupons.

Actually, Tina, I go out of my way to keep from having to shop at WalMart. The savings of shopping there is not worth the hassle of going there. I live in a metropolis area so they are everywhere I turn but I will drive an extra mile to go to a Target instead.

There is only one Wal-mart in the town I live in, and from my house its about a 10 mile drive, so I guess I would say that I do go out of my way to shop at Wal-mart, I don't like having to go there because it seems so far out, but most of the time I don't have a choice. There are other Wal-marts in the towns next to us, I only go there if I'm in that town at the time. I like going and seeing other ones too, because sometimes they might have different things than mine does.

I'll be honest here in saying I do whatever I can NOT to shop at Walmart. The closest store to me is about 38 miles and it's terrible. There is another one about an hour and 1/2 away and I perfer that one over the one that is closer because of the management. I'm glad that there are super stores out there because the all in one stores are nice. It's just the one closests to us isn't fit to shop in.

I am a fan of Walmart but I do not go out of my way to go there. I love their bargains as well, however my wife is not such a big fan of it. They have such a plethora of products and many of them are good quality. There is a Walmart a couple minutes from my house that we go to every once in a while.

dont get me wrong..walmart does tend to have things for a little bit cheaper but i personally would not go out of my way to go to walmart...i prefer Target over walmart just because the things there tend to be better quality....there is a walmart a few miles from my house and the nearest target is a good bit further away and i go out of my way to go to target!!! i mean dont get me wrong...i like walmart as well but i only go there out of convenience becuase it is so close....but overall i wouldnt go out of my way to go there.....
