It's almost midnight but a neighbor's videoke machine is still at high volume, the party is still in full swing. Luckily for us we are not next door neighbors and our bedroom is far back. I wonder what happened to the proposal to regulate volumes of sing-alongs in public places? Do you agree to the proposal? why or why not?

I don't know why other local government units can not make regulations about videoke or any other type of disruptions at night. I know some municipalities or barangay councils who did good legislation and support the implementation of stopping videoke bars or lowering the sounds of night parties past 10-11PM. Our local authorities have the right and the capacity to create and implement proper regulations in their respective area. Do we still need a national regulation for this?

Thanks for agreeing with me. And it is really necessary for us to be active in our barangay and not just complain when things go wrong. The barangay general assembly is one thing where anyone can lodge their concerns about their place. If the barangay management system is not that effective, then we can up our efforts to the municipal level. If we, the citizenry, will just fully exercise our rights and do our obligations, our place will be a better place to live in.

I think you are right. It's up to the local governemnt to feel the pulse of the citizenry and do what needs to be done. As private citizens maybe we could urge our barangay officials to pass and implemet messures which can improve the quality of life for the majority, and to minimize/stop abuses of some inconsiderate neighbors.

I agree with that kind of regulation. Especially if the videoke is on a residential area. I have a neighbor who had their store in front of us and every morning that is they would make their radio so loud that we are are bit disturbed by the noise. i hope they would have to regulate that too coz I do think that they should make their volume radio lower.

I have one neighbor too, who used to turn on their radio for the whole village to hear! Thanks goodness it has stopped. But on Sundays they would sometimes turn on their radio to old OPM songs (60s, 70s). I used to think, mayde they think they are doing service to those who don't have radios, or they want to share the joy they get from listening to their station. LOL

Yeah that is true. This neighbor of ours would turn their radio at a very loud volume. Our community is a very quite place if they would just be discreet I would appreciate when using their radio. But lately they have toned down their use but there are times that they really put on their radio on a very loud volume.

Hello pmcepe! I guess it that videoke should be petitioned. In our province, the videoke owner have curfews. At 10 oclock, there shouldn't be videoke anymore. I don't know if it applies in your place too but I guess the regulation is the same.

i really agree on that proposals because it disturb you a lot during night time especially when you want to sleep early still the videoke is at high volume as you said. for me that machine must be put in a private place so that it will not disturb to the others. the proposal still not impose may be because there are a lot of people don't agree with this.

In our subdivision, I don't know if there is a standing regulation to lower the volume of not just videoke machines but sound systems in general from 10pm onwards. Even if there is not such ordinance in our place yet, we can always ask our village guards to call the attention of neighbors who fail to lower the volume of their videoke machine when it already so late at night. Though we are a free country where people can have their own way of celebrating special occasions, such celebrations should not be a source of disturbance for others in the community.

Villages or subdivisions with security guards are in a better position to enforce the regulation. They have a working homeowners association were concerns like this can be addressed. Woe to us outside gated villages, who can only hope for the sympathy of the tanods.
Thanks for posting

there is no need for a new proposals regarding that issue.. we can file for a "reklamo" in a baranggay hall or any nearby police station.. i know there is a law regarding that... uhmm.. just cant remember the term.. disturbance?? obstruction?? ahh.. cant remember the right term...
i always have problems like that.. here in our neighborhood..

Yes, we could ask the barangay tanods to act on our complaint but the culprit asks who the complainant is, and most often, we don't want to come out openly for fear of repraisal.(I speak from personal experience!). The one time I complained about my neighbors who were already drunk and singing at the top of their lungs, the tanods came. The "singers" were soooo pissed off, lashing at the neighbors and daring us to come openly.

Hi pmcepe!
I absolutely agree with you. Right now, it seems playing videoke had become a part of every occasion. I would very much welcome any laws that could regulate not only videoke but anything that could directly affect the neighborhood, such as stray dogs, etc.
I also think that we should be partly blame for this because we tolerate this unwelcome practice and behavior of our neighbor. Maybe this is one of the bad influence or culture that we inherited from our ancestor, being patience and considerably adaptable to the behavior of our neighbor.
By the way, I think there are rising complaint regarding this loud and late playing of videoke in every Barangay right now.

Thank goodness stray dogs is not a problem in Marikina anymore because of strict compliance to ordinances. Each municipality/city has ordinances about it. The difference is how the officals are enforcing the laws.
Maybe if every time such "noise pollution" occurs, the neighbors would ask the barangay to invistigate, just maybe this practice would cease.
Thanks for sharing your views.

yes, cause videoke should be situated away from residential homes. what's worst about this is, those who uses videoke often times wants to use it in the evening were people are already preparing to get some rest. the proposal should be taken into great consideration for the benefit of the majority of people who want to sleep peacefully.

Hi there! I wish there's also a regulation like that here in our place. We have neighbors who likes videoke so much that it goes on all night long and even until in the morning. It would have been good if their voices are nice but nooooo, it sounds like "pasyon". Really, these people have no consideration for others.

I definitely agree on that proposal to regulate the volumes or might be prohibition on singing with the videoke on open areas that even its almost midnight and the neighbors should could not rest well because of the noise they create partying all night long.
