Do you like to swim in the ocean or does it scare you?

Hi moneymommy...I never swim in the ocean because I am terrified of anything touching me that I can't see!

Swimming in the ocean here in the U.K. is safe, but I would be nervous of seas where they may be sharks. The biggest danger here is currents that can carry you out to sea, but we have a flag system to say when they are particularly strong. I got caught in a current once, but I remembered what we were told - "don't panic". So I just relaxed and went with the current, I couldn't have done anything else. It took me around the coast a little way and then back to land. The problem was though that is was a big rocky and I got a few cuts and bruises being washed up on the craggy rocks. I am still here though - obviously! - Derek

i can't swim in anything. never learned how. do well to walk nowadays. lol

I like swimming in the ocean. The only time I get scared is if I go out too far.

i like swimming in the ocean, but this scare me especially when there are big waves. Sometimes i just like to borrow my feet in the sand, or stay near the shore, i want to lay where the water touches my whole body. Yes saltwater heals and it heals emotions too. Whenever your there in the ocean you just feel so relaxed. I have 1 friend who advised me to scream in front of the ocean if i feel so angry or mad about something, haha but i never tried it yet. i love the ocean. happy mylotting and smile always mommy!

I can only get to the ocean when I go on holiday but I really like it. It is so natural to swim in the sea, especially with your family or your girlfriend. ( of course not in a crowded place) I don't really afraid of animals or anything, and I like to swim near rocks, of course I always try to be careful .

I've been to the shore when I was younger, I didn't like the ocean because it was so cold, but that's my major objection to the ocean.

I don't think my swimming is good enough to swim in the ocean. As I found I am like an ant in the ocean and I hardly control myself well:) I can say I play in the ocean only. My skin is sensitive to the ocean, so I need more time to adjust to it. I love China

Hey there! I do love swimming in the ocean specially if the water is clean and calm. When I was staying in my grandmother's province me and my former classmates back in high school always go to the beach. I love the beaches there. It has very fine white sand beaches and clean water. We usually rent a floating cottage. Sometimes when we go to far and the water is too deep I worry because it is hard to bring the cottage back to the shore. It is heavy and big so we are really gonna have a hard time to row it ashore. Sometimes I also worry about sharks.lol. Have a nice day. Happy posting!!

It scares me a lot whenever we go to a beach. I don't go into the ocean instead I would swim in the pool provided by the beach resort. I'm afraid that I would drown and would be carried away by the waves.

Hi moneymommy...I absolutely love to swim in the ocean and jump in the waves. I wont be doing much wave jumping as last summer I hurt a ligament in my knee doing it and it has never heeled properly. I have no fear of water at all. I probably should have as Ive had a few scarey moments in the ocean. Last summer I got caught in an undertow that kept throwing me around. I couldnt get up on my feet for a long time and when I did and crawled to shore, my legs and arms were scraped and bleeding...So what did I do? Moved on to a different beach! I will try to upload the pic my daughter in law took of me being thrown around underwater. She thought I was just playing around and even took a pic!!..I get a good laugh out of it now. If you look carefully at my pic, you will see me underwater...the sand was washing from under my feet and i couldnt stand up.

I don't like just swimming in Ocean....I love doing that :))

moneymommy, you will have to come and visit me! The ocean here is very clear, beautiful and warm. I love to go in it, most days I can look down and see my feet, there are no riptides or undertow here and the almost no waves. Like you I feel that it is very healing and theraputic. Whenever I take a swim I get out feeling refreshed, renewed and ready to take on the world again.

I actually love swimming in the ocean but im terrified of what i cant see down there. But sadly i dont live close enough to any real blue water. But even being afraid cant keep me out of the water.

When I was stationed in the service one of the places I was stationed at was by the ocean. I swam everyday and really enjoyed it. The ocean doesn't scare me at all. That was a long time ago and I don't live any where near a ocean now.

Hi, moneymommy! No, I don't like swimming in the ocean. I have never done this before, and I don't think that I ever will. I am afraid to touch basis with what may be in the water. It may be a wild sea animal, and I am not about to come face to face with it. I feel that it may not be so safe to swim in the ocean, even if it is clean or not. This is a chance that I think that I may not take.

I am not one to swim in the ocean, I dont mind swimming, and I will walk in the beach water but I dont go to far in...LOL just being in water with fish kinda freaks me out.... ...but it stems from when I was a little girl and my moms friend took me with them one day to the beach and told me not to go in the water were the fish are that they would bite me....so I now I always stay away from the water...
