I was going to sell my hair as I'm behind on house payment. But I didn't I donated my hair to love locks and my hair cut was free. It looks really good. They cut off over 14 inches. So my hair is cut right up past my shoulders a little bit. everybody likes it. Would you ever donate your hair? and if not why?Happy mylotting

when my 12 year old daughter was 10. she had really long hair, almost to her waste and she wanted to donate it to some kids that had cancer, so we looked on the internet and when she got her hair cut, it was in a braid, so we mailed the braid and we got a very nice thank you letter and a certificate for her troubles, but now she likes shorter hair. (it had to be over 10 inches to donate.)

@spiritul, I observe that you are only saying Hi to people tor thx for thank you. You will not be happy with your earnings on here if you continue in that way. You earn by actually participating, and neither of those things contributes to the discussions you are visiting.

My hair has never really gotten long enough to donate it. And when it was pretty long (bout 3yrs ago)I had to get it cut thanks to my kids picking up lice some where and it hasn't been real long past my shoulder since.
I'm proud of you for being able to donate your hair plus the bonus of a free hair cut.

I donate my hair every 2 years or so. I like having long hair, but also like the change and the fresh start when I cut off a foot or more. I have received compliments on my hair both when it's long and when it's short, and I've learned ways to style it at any length, so for me, donating my hair will probably be something I continue to do. It's a win-win in my situation, and I like to know that I am doing something to help others in the process!

Yes that is how I felt. Maybe if my hair is that long in two years I will. That sounds like a plan. We should get alot of people and do it all on the same day. Get it on the news. That would help to get hair for the kids with cancer. But I don't know if mine will be that long in two years. Good for you. Have a Happy Easter.

Hi onlydia...I would love to donate my hair but it grows so slowly I think I'd have to wait years in order to get the minimum for locks of love. You did such a good deed - good for you!

I would have donated it when I was younger but now I'm older and it takes so long to grow it back so I probably wouldn't be inclined to do it.

Mine is pretty long now (middle of my back) and I don't see anything wrong with donating it. I've never seriously considered it, but if the opportunity looked me in the face, I would probably do it. Hair grows back - it's not like there isn't any more.

I went to Fantasic Sams and they cut your hair for free if you donate it and that was a plus for me as I'm laid off. I was just donating to help out and then found out after it was free I was happyas save money on a hair cut. Plus I felt better after words. They say do something for yourself if your depressed and this was it. Cut my hair and donated it and then found out it was free. Now that was a plus. YOu ahve a great day.

I donated 13 inches of my hair recently, it is now cut right to the base of my neck.
I've never been able to find a free haircut for donating hair, but I always get my hair cut free because I usually do it myself. This last time I got a free haircut too because I got my dad to cut it for me.
Usually it is difficult to sell hair anyway. I tried to do it before and when I looked into it I had the wrong color hair and I found that people in developed countries wash their hair too much so the wig makers usually look towards countries where women don't wash their hair daily. Although Locks of Love did not have those restrictions, so I have donated my hair there several times now.

I think it is wonderful that you donated your hair like that. I know it would have been nice to have gotten the money, but it is so generous that you donated it so someone with cancer can have a nice wig now and no longer be embarrassed to not have hair. You should post a new picture of yourself with the shorter hair!
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

My b/f has really long hair. He has been growing it just to donate. My hair dresser say's he has doll hair, straight and long and never had any chemical processes done to it. Since I have had chemicals applied to my hair I probably wouldn't donate.
