I would like to ask for the opinion of you guys and girls, do you think that abortion should be legalized? Having abortion legalized, it would be a lot safer for women who would like to have this surgical procedure on a government accredited hospital than going to underground hospitals that is doing illegal abortion for a very high cost plus even endangering her own life. There are a lot of cons and pros on abortion and its for you girls and guys to discuss about it... so I would like to see people exchange ideas here...

Abortions should degintely be legal.. I am pro-choice and I think there are many different reasons a woman needs to abort and nobody should have to sneak around to do it. Its too dangerous that way..

Legal. What a woman does with her body is her business not the government. Plus keeping it legal saves those who might fall victim to shady back-alley operations.

Abortion is murder of an unborn baby. I'm for people not being so darn lazy, and using birth control. I think everyone who is for abortion, should have to witness one. Believe me, you'd "never" foget what you saw and heard. What in the world is wrong with people, who can approve of even "full term" abortions? Ane there are even those who do use abortion as a form of 'birth control.' People need to become responsible for themselves instead of just "dismissing" an infant's life as a BLOB OF TISSUE !

I think everyone who is for abortion, should have to witness one. Believe me, you'd "never" foget what you saw and heard. Really? and how many have you personally witnessed? just out of curiousity....i could witness one and still feel the same way..Why? because #1 its a medical procedure, witnessing any of them isnt always fun and #2 I had an abortion and KNOW what its like to be in that situation.. Ane there are even those who do use abortion as a form of 'birth control.' I dont know any mature and sensible Pro Choice person who is in agreement with abortion as a form of birth control People need to become responsible for themselves instead of just "dismissing" an infant's life as a BLOB OF TISSUE! Not all of us Pro Choicers DO dismiss it as a "blob of tissue...I don't and didnt neither before nor after my abortion...why did I still have it? becuse I was and still am responsible for ppl other than just myself...mainly my two other children..

Re=read my statement. I said that all of those who were FOR abortion, whould have to witness one. I am not for it. I think there are many out there who are grandmas and grampas that would have 'glady' taken that aborted baby and raised it. Sorry, but I just can't fathom going through this 'proceedure' as you call it. I just could not do it. 'nuff said

Hi mhil84, You are right about there being a lot of pro and cons in regard to abortion, and many people get very upset over the issue. I don't believe it should be used as a form of birth control, but I think it should be legalized. When the mothers life is in danger than it is a given and I also think that a woman should have the right to choose if she has been raped. I have heard the arguments on both sides and believe everyone has a right to their opinion. Blessings.

I think it should be legal because a) until the fetus is around 20 weeks old, it lacks sentience and therefore the capacity to suffer so usual ethical considerations need not apply and b) desperate women will end up maimed or killed from back alley abortions. And I'm also of the opinion that the right to life is meaningless without the right to freedom and other basic liberties, and in order to be free, you need the right to control what happens to your body.

i think that abortion is a very difficult topic to discuss. many people view it wrong but many people view it as right. some believe it to be wrong because of religion while others just believe it to be wrong. i personally think that it should be legalized. i think that if it is made illegal, two things will happen. 1. the crime rate will increase as people will still need to do it. 2. many babies that cannot be cared for properly will have to be born, and that could prove problematic and then there will be trouble with babies not being properly cared for. if someone cannot find an adoption family, or afford hospital charges they need to get an abortion. also it could further hurt the economy as many abortionists, planned parenthood centers could lose business

hi there :) No!No!No am against of it in any angle. Couples should be responsible in any actions they've done and if it will come to a point that the girl becomes preggy, they have to face it, (i was preggy before and it's unplanned) though i made wrong move in my life am the one responsible for it and it's not the answer of having an abortion. hubby and i faced and with the help of our family they supported us, it really helps and enlighten you when people 'round you are there and ask God's strength. You will realize after how good it is and how God's wonderful gift made you especially in my case my life turned it to a better one having our lil bundle of joy and it should not be legalized, pro-life! we don't have the power to kill someone's life and take it as it's just an easy way. only HIM-God. happy myLotting! Godabless!0=)

One lady I know is expecting Siamese twins and she is continuing with her pregnancy. She is a brave lady and many people have told her she should have an abortion. I am pro-life too.

hi i think abortion shud be legalized-lets not bring religion into this-bcoz as u have said if the couple or the mother does not want to keep it-she cannot be forced to give birth to the child-she will then resort to othermeans/seek help of quacks or other illegal practioners, endangering her life in bargain.if a couple feels that they do not want to give birth to the child-respect their feelings.if they are forced to bear against their will, i think it is not fair to them.

It depends on the situation. If the unborn child has a birth defect then, the pregnancy should be terminated. because The child has no future in living a happy life. And it will only bring more pain to the parents.

I had spina bifida diagnosed at 36 weeks pregnancy and that is a birth defect. Luckily the hospital were able to patch my son up in a couple of operations. He is almost two years old and he is a happy little boy. The last three weeks of my pregnancy caused me much emotional pain and when he came out of the special care baby unit I went up a steep learning curve. All that bother has been worth it. He is such a delightful child and I am lucky to be his mum.

I don't know where you are as I did not look at your profile, but in the USA, it's legal up to a certain point. It should remain a legal and safe choice for women who wish to have an abortion. Am I pro life? No. I am pro choice. I am not pro abortion. I have a daughter and don't think I could ever abort a pregnancy of my own unless the pregnancy would kill me (ie a tubal) but far be it for me to tell another woman what she should or shouldn't do with her body. If a woman wants to abort, then she should be able to walk into a clinic and obtain a safe and legal abortion by a licensed doctor. We should not resort back to the 60s where women were strapped to a folding metal table and had a dirty knife used on them by a drunk doctor who didn't think to use anesthesia. We are a world leading country and if the USA wants to take a huge step back, then we might as well all turn to shanty towns and poor houses and live like they do in the remote villages of Africa.

Yeah, you are right that there are pros and cons on abortion, and there are also pros and cons on legalizing abortion. For some country, abortion is a method to contral the birth rate of the whloe population, and how do you feel about that?I believe it is crude from the human nature, but I also admit that it is a quite available way to keep the population of some develping countries in a reasonable number. In some cases, some young girls, who are not ready to have children but they are pregnant accidently,it will be difficult for them if abortion is illegalized, not to mention the poor womem who are raped.I do not have a certain answer about this question.

why on earth would someone legalize abortion. that is killing! We have no right of depriving someone his/her life. Only God can do that. Im sorry but i am totally against it. It is morally and spiritually wrong. Even if the fetus is one day old in a woman's womb, it is already life. Life is a gift from God and we cannot take what is not ours in the first place. Babies are angels - A gift from God. They have no fault on how or what circumstances they were made or formed.

Here's an idea, instead of going of and screwing about, then have to worry about getting someone pregnant, why not just learn some damned restraint. If you can't have children at this point in your life, with this or that person, DON'T HAVE RELATIONS WITH THEM, it's really not that hard.

that would be all fine and well if the ONLY reason women were having abortions was due to careless behaviour....however thats not always the case, so what about those women?

Im am 100% PRO-LIFE. I think that abortion is murder. I believe that when that baby is conceived it is a human life. I have been through a miscarriage. It was the worst time of my life. I wanted my baby so bad. But woman that get abortions chose to kill their baby. If you don't want the responsibility of a baby keep your legs closed. Abortion is murder.

I myself think it should be legalized as i think a woman has the right to do with her body what she wants, IF, it's early enough into the pregnancy.

Whether it is legal or not, there are those who are going to do it. Therefore, it should be legal as you say it would be safer for the woman all around. I do not necessarily condone it though.

I am totally against abortion but I am not going to say weather i think it should be legal or not. Because here is the deal. If a woman or couple is desperate enough to get an abortion and lets just say they cant weather because cost or if its illegal they will go to extremes to get other things done. So in my opinion crime rate would most likely go up if its illegal.

my answer is a big fat NO. abortion should not be legalized if you want this world an this society to stay civilized and peaceful. i don't believe there are pros in abortion. everything happens for a reason and a child is conceived because God wants it. we humans have no right to put the matter in our hands.

i am not favor of abortion be legalized. another hand it is depend on the reason of abortion. if the risk is endangering either the mother or the fetus, it should be legalized. but if for the sake of ripping of the human innocent life i think it should not be.
