My 5 year old daughter started crying last night for what appeared to be no reason. When my husband asked her over dinner why she was crying, she said because she was nervous. He then told her that being nervous was not a good reason to cry and I said "Wait a minute, I cry when I am nervous" and he responded and said well you shouldn't.
I told him that I was going to start this discussion and prove that I am not the only woman that cries when she is nervous and that it is perfectly normal. So what are your thoughts?
Do you cry when you are nervous?

Oh yeah even though maybe we shouldn't cry about it and be strong, it's only natural to cry when you are nervous and I do it aswell!
If I'm nervous, anxious, or worried about something happening, I might cry a bit. So you can put me in the vote, I cry when I'm nervous!

I think it is the woman who always cries when nervous and males express it in other ways. But your daughter is so young to complain to be nervous.May be she is immitating your words. You are not alone. My wife use to cry or to say, weep when she is nervous and more when she is angry.Cheers!

I think your husband needs a good swift kick for what he told your daughter. Parents need to support their children, not make them feel bad. If I am feeling something not-so-good, and I need to express that emotion, I cry if I need to let it out. My husband and I were talking about this ust the other night, and he understands that I do not cry when I want something, but when I genuinely feel like crying, and it sounds like that is what your daughter is doing.

Depends on what you're nervous about. Maybe she's mistaking the term "Nervous" for the feeling of being "scared" instead...still, I don't think it's normal for a 5-yr old to be "nervous" out of the blue like that. Dig a little deeper...something's up.

Her father cancelled on her again and she was nervous about who was going to pick her up from school today. You know her father, I will cancell as often as I can and say "Well I have to work".
It is upsetting to her and she thinks about it a lot and worries about being stranded at school. I can understand that, I use to have the same thoughts when my mother was suppose to pick me up.
