Do you scoop up after your dog?

So I was looking out my window this morning and noticed that a man walking his dog across the street did not stop and pick up after his dog. I was disgusted. I always pick up after my dogs when we're out on a walk. It's actually a bylaw here that you must clean up after your dog in any public place or else face a fine. So what do you think. Do you always clean up after your dog? What do you think of people that don't?

I ALWAYS pick up after my dog... seriously, thats just gross! Not to mention disrespectful! I even clean up after my pup in my yard... he goes in 1 square section so it makes it much easier to locate... And, for the record... if you don't clean up after your dog, you have NO right to judge others who don't do it... my neighbor ALWAYS complains about it but then I seen how she NEVER cleans up after her dog... next time she says something in front of ME I'm gonna tell her she has no room to talk!

I agree you really can't be complaining about other people if you don't even scoop yourself. It's hipocritical to complain and then let your dog poop and not clean it. Some people just don't understand common curtesy.

When I walk my dog yes I clean up after him. But at home I have a pet service that comes to the house to do it.

Having a pet service come and clean up your yard would be great! Although I do have a Chihuahua so I don't think it would be worth the money for me.

i don't have a dog... but i know that it is a law here that you have to scoop up after your dog... otherwise, you could get a hefty fine if you are caught by the officer... anyway, i still see many people not doing that and it disgusts me as well... also, it just shows how irresponsible the owner is... i always want to tell them off whenever i see that... take care and have a nice day...

It is very rude not to clean up after your dog. I have to admit though, I have been caught a couple times without anything to clean up with. I feel so guilty at those times! I have even been known to come all the way home and go all the way back to clean up the mess. I know there are many people who don't care though.

You can get a baggie dispenser that attaches to the leash now. They only cost a couple of dollars at the pet stores and they sometimes even have them a dollar stores. It takes out that having to remember factor for me.

It's just rude not to pick up after your dog. I feel bad if my dog urinates on someone else's tree. Thhere's no excuse not to pick up. There are plenty simple things you can bring along on a walk to pick up after your dog. Ziplock baggies are wonderful! I have attachment on my leash that discpences baggies to clean up after my dog. It was only a few dollares at Petco. There's just no excuse not to clean up after your dog.

I have the same baggie dispenser on my leash. It makes it even easier to clean up after my dogs.

I have two dogs, and I do clean up after them on their walk. To me that is onl respect for others peoples property as they dom't wamt to have to deal with it and end up stepping in it. I have come across other ones that don't clean up after their dogs, and to me that is so wrong. After all, we are walking our dogs and going past other peoples properies and it is our responsibiliy to clean up after our animals. I wouldn't want a dog going in my yard, and not cleaning it up, that is for sure.

I always pick up after our dog and make sure my kids do as well. To me it doesn't matter if we are on or own yard, someone elses or walking down the street it's just rude not to. We have neighbors who have let their dogs use our yard as a toilet and not picked it up. I actually have seen it. I confronted him and he didn't clean it up, my boyfriend spoke to him and still they didn't clean it up. They make me so mad. I hate finding dog messes on our lawn, especially when I know that it is not even from our dog.

if the children or I are walking the dogs we do pick up after them - I think it is horribly rude to not be prepared to pick up their droppings... I do not know for certain that my husband picks up after them when he walks them - but he does pick up after them in our own yard so he probably would. I like to use bread baggies, sandwich baggies or even store bags - whatever I have on hand.

I never let my animals leave the house because I need them also for my family's protection and theirs. having a situation can really upset a person most specially if some one has just cleaned their house at that time. Unfortunately, that law does not apply here in our country since we are not entire into too much animal welfare. good day

Haha.... this is a good idea actually...just to stick it anywhere on there property would be hilarious. I just might consider doing it. Family can only hold a grudge for so long but it definetly let them know to keep their dogs chained up in their own yard!

No, I don't clean up after my dog because I live out in the country and it's not a problem where I live. She stays in the house some of the time and she mostly goes when I turn her outside. I keep a wee wee pad handy for her but she's only used it three times. I guess if you live in a neighborhood where the neighbors are really close, it would be a different situation. I just never thought anything about it, myself. Kathy.

Thank you for responding. My neighbors aren't that close to me. I have about four or five acres, maybe more, and my dog doesn't get that far away from home. I don't have this to worry about. My neighbors have never complained to me, anyway. I would much rather that she poop outside than in the house anytime. If she does it in the house, if it's not on the wee wee pad, I get upset. My yard is so big, I don't know if I could find all the poop. This is a good suggestion, though. Kathy.

I live in the country too, but we clean up the dog poo, just not in the winter because we can't find it with all the snow blowing in from the fields but by spring it has fertilized the grass nicely. Over the spring, summer and fall we scoop it and throw it into the field. The neighbours (which is family) let their dogs come and dirty in my yard and it gets on my last nerves, they figure its the country and they don't care... I already have to smell crap spread in the fields, the last thing I want is to smell dog crap, or someone elses dog crap.

Where I live, you can be fined by not doind it. Not that everybody cares about it. The law also says you have to take your dog out with a leash. Some people will not do it and dogs can have good manners iuntil something excites them When I see those things I wish I was a cop to grab them and make them behave Take care.

I don't pick up dog poop while walking, I make my boyfriend do it... If I take the dog alone I MAKE SURE he does it before we leave and don't let him on any grass long enough to consider it. He won't do it on the sidewalk. I think it is absolutely disgusting when people don't pick it up and especially when they know you seen then and they scurry out of there super fast. But you ever walk by a pile of poop and it was so enormous you wonder if a dog even did it??? EW

I really don't see a reason to scoop-the-poop if my dog drops his load on grass or dirt, because it will just fertilize the land and I don't have to touch his excrete due to the lack of bags.

Your suppose to scoop out of respect for the property of others. It's a basic curtesy and the responsible thing to do. Would you like it if other people let their dogs poop on your lawn and left it there for you to step in?

That's nasty. If your toilet was out of service and you had company over, would you go squat in your neighbours yard and NOT pick it up since it's fertilizer?
