I am living away from my family right now. It's been more than 8 years for me living far from my parents, because I have to study in the other city. At first, I always feel homesick every time I was alone. I thought it would be nice to be around my family and having some good times together with them. But then I realized if I stayed that way, I could never be independent and live my own life.
Now, I feel homesick once in a while, which okay for me because I can still go home to my hometown sometimes. I could get this morning flight to go there, if I can't take the homesick. :)
Two months after I left my hometown, six years ago I fell sick and I cried alone in my room because I missed my Mom and Dad so much because I know they would take care of me if I were in my home with them. But life is tough and you have to deal with it, being alone thought me lots of things I have never known when I was living with my family, the survival skills you would never learn if someone always back you up.
Try some more months, you would feel better about it, and if you can't handle it, find sometimes to visit your home :)
I hope you would feel better after this

It's just a matter of time before you get used to being away from your family. you could always try talking to them through phone and computer via skype. It will teach you how to e independent. it's up to if you can mature in the situation that you'll grow up even more.it's difficult t first, but you'll get used to it..

Feeling home sickness can include sleep disturbances, mood swings, lack of motivation, feelings of isolation, feelings of loss.i feel home sickness when i went for study tour.Really i was very much irritated and i was feeling to come back to home as soon as.To deal with home sick include
1.Stay connected back with friends and family by sending letters, and calling
2.Limit time alone to ptevent feelings of lonliness and sadness.
3.Continue with your hobbies.
4.Join a club,organization or committee
5.Create a comfportable environment in your room
6.Go to meals with others.
Somewhat we can reduce this home sickness while doing the above mentioned activities.

Im stay away from my family right now too, because i already marry. No i live with my husband and his family. Sometimes i miss my home espesial my mother, everyday i calling to her, talk anything with her and sometimes i cry because i really miss her^^. Two months im stay in my husband`s home, i still feel strange, feel this home not my home, i do know what can i do in here. His mother being commander in this home. And some trouble, he have brother like as ten years child, selfish and arrogant. And so sad, his mother always spoiled his brother. Sometimes i feel i want out from this home. I hope i can have a house in next time, so next time i and my husband not feel stress again. ^^

I was raised very, very close to my family. We crammed 2 grandparents, my parents, 8 aunts and uncles and 9 grandkids into 1 house every year for Thanksgiving. It was loud but loving. Anyway, we moved away when I was 8 but still gathered every year for the holiday. That was really hard for me, as it was my first move and we moved 6 hours away. It wasn't like we moved to the next town, or to the other side of the state, we moved so far away that we had to plan a vacation to go see the family. Take a long weekend or something. Anyway (again), I spent my years from 8-17 in Reno, and then a guy a knew asked me to move from Nevada to Nebraska. Holy cow. That was a huge decision. I was going to move 3 states away from my mom, my dad, my sister, and my nephew, not to mention my friends and habits. It was scary, but I did it. I got married, had a son, then moved back to Reno. I spent a few years going back and forth. By the time I was done, I had 3 kids and I moved, for the final time, back to the little town I had originally came from. I love Oregon!!!
I have included a picture of the coast close to where I live.

Hi! Welcome to mylot!
I have been living in Berlin for over two years know.
When I came here, I had a good job and enough money to go visit my family in the Netherlands when ever I wanted. But then my back started on me and left me without work. I cannot go back to my normal job and get half the money I used to get.
I have not been home for over 1 and a half years. I do miss my family. But, I have to accept it. I try to keep myself busy and I have a flat rate on my phone, so I can call often. I also email them. But, still I would like to see them soon.
Take care, have a nice day.

i have been a little home sick before when i moved to south dakota from mississippi about 25 or more years ago but it does not bother me any more. i think because i had to be so independent when i was younger it did not effect me as much.but if i had to leave my little boys for any reason i know i would be very home sick and it would be very hard on me and them.

I left home almost 10 years ago. I moved 1100 miles from my mom, and all of my family. I wanted to get out and see what the world was about, so I did. I was home sick at first but the more I go out and explored things here, the less I missed home. The most recent time I was home sick was when I hadn't seen my family for over 4 years. Our schedules never met up, so we couldn't work out a time where we could both be in the same place at the same time, and the 18 hour drive just couldn't fit in with us either.
I miss home all the time, I don't miss living there, I miss the people that I grew up with. I miss the things I used to do, but then I wouldn't be doing those things if I were still there because I've grown up, as well as all the people I grew up with. I miss being able to see my mom, my sisters and brothers when ever I want too.

I feel home sick right now. I really want to go to Texas to visit my family but right now the circumstances are not on my side to go. My job amoung other things makes it hard to get to Texas. I try to go once a year. I am hoping to get down their next month. I am not sure what can help with this problem but I do feel what you are going through. It never gets easier!

Totally agree. I am quite longing for home since now working in another place far away from my home. Everyday I just miss home and I was like you, want to rush to home, but you know, it's life and life sacks so I cannot just simply go home due to work. Don't know how to handle it but going online is a good method and now I'm just saying hi to you myLotters. So try your best to be with what you are staying in. Anyway, we can do nothing that could bring us home, right? So keep it cool and time will tell everything. Good luck.

I have same feeling as you. I don't like travelling even though it's welfare from company except with my family.it's a strange idea which make my associates not understant for what. Indeed, i'm afraid to leave home or not come back never. Why? i don't know, General speaking, i would rather stay home than any other place.
