There seems to be alot more bullying going on in school now than there was even 10 years ago when I was in school. I don't really know what has sparked this new trend between kids and teens. It doesn't really seem to be where I am which is in a real small community. But in 4 years my oldest will be going to highschool and I am worried because he will have to go to a bigger city for that. I am from the city he will have to go and violence is up a bit there. I wan't to protect my kids from everything but at the same time I don't want to over protect them to the point they end up hating me.
The question again is, What causes violence and bullying in schools?

I don't think we will ever know the cause of bullying.
It's happening because lots of problems at home, at school, and who ever is the bully, needs to receive some attention, even though it attracts negative attention.
Lack of education, lack of love and understanding.Frustration over any kind of "lack". And this leads to anger.Anger leads to a need to "take it off" on someone. And there you have the big bully.
I know high school is pretty scary, but you as a mother can do nothing beside letting your kids go through this.
Maybe talk to them, prepare them to face it without fear, but in good spirit, as "this is it". We all had to go through it, and we learned how to deal with problems, we prepared for the real life. How else can we be ready for after high school?
