Is Yellow Nail Polish The Hottest Color Now Or What? Everyone Is Wearing It!

Ok, so lately I have been noticing many celebrities on television wearing yellow nail polish. Is yellow the very latest color that is out now or something? I think it looks awful! It must be a very popular color anymore because I have seen so many different women wearing bright yellow nail polish. The first time I saw it I thought there was something wrong with my television or that there was some sort of weird lighting situation on their fingernails.
So, has anyone here on myLot sported this new fashion trend? I know I would have if I were younger as about 15 years ago I used to wear blue, purple, green, etc. nail colors. I was young and they were popular and it was fun. I just can't think of anything that bright yellow nail polish would go with.
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Wow, I hadn't noticed the green or the pumpkin orange before. I will have to stay on the lookout for that.
I think I would try the bright orange pumpkin color or even a bright bubblegum pink if that were in style!
Thanks for your comment and have a great day!!!

I haven't seen anyone wearing yellow nail polish and it would look horrible on me. I go more for the corals, soft picks and mild reds. I don't care for really pale or really bright colors...though I did go through a stage as a teen where they were painted black and sharpened to a point LOL

Actually I don't know why I did it...it was a fad that went for a little while when I was a teen. I also had an older brother that used to beat me up frequently and one good slash with razor sharp claws would get him to leave me alone LOL We were rough kids...:)

Wow! I don't remember kids sharpening their nails into claws - ouch!
I remember wearing a rainbow of colors on my nails though when I was young. I remember one time painting my nails bright blue with a white stripe down the middle of the nail and thin red stripes on either side of the white one. Then I painted over with clear glitter polish. This was in honor of the 4th of July!

I haven't seen it out in public anywhere so far.....maybe its a trend for Hollywood. I wouldn't wear it...I never have been into all those different colors....but I do like it when they do designs on their nails and would love to have flowers or something on my nail....

I think it is beautiful to have designs or flowers on the nail. I haven't ever done that but I have thought about doing it. Once this recession gets over and I have some more disposable income I think I will go have my nails done and have some designs put on them.

I haven't noticed that trend! I would think yellow polish would look good on only a few people with the right coloring, though.
One of my favorite colors when I was younger was gold. I had polish with matching glitter. I would paint my nails gold, two coats, then go over it with clear polish filled with gold glitter. They were beautiful! My favorite glitter/polish, though, was a beautiful peacock blue. Sally's Beauty Supply has all these wonderful things, or they did 15 years ago. I still see them in places so they must still exist.
Nail polish is fun, no matter what it looks like. But yellow would be rather strange on a light-complected person, I think it would make them look washed out and ill.

I used to always use polish that had pearlessence to it, you know frosted colors. Then I would put glitter polish on top of that just to make sure it was all nice a sparkly.
If I did that now I am certain that my husband would think I was crazy!

I love it!! And I'm the most low maintenance mother out there, lol. I love red nail polish but its just hard to keep up let me tell you..you probably know! But YELLOW, especially Canary---Im on it!! Going to march right down to the pharmacy store and get it because its perfect for me. Im of a medium skin tone and if I go off the lines it will be a easy rub and its off and a quick q-tip around the edges of my nails. BUT, I refuse to use the O.P.I (?) it is the worst nail polish ever and out of the three little bottles i have bought, I'll be lucky if it lasts even one day. I doubt Sally Henson has it yet but I will try Revlon.

I saw few people wearing it, but i don't think it's already a trend on the streets. For now on the fashion allows us to wear things from different styles and ages, so people always keep looking for some things that were forgotten, or weren't popular at all. I would wear yellow nail polish, though only a year ago I hated this color in everything. that's fun how everything can change. i think that bright/deep yellow will look good. But if someone wants to wear it, it's important not to choose transparent or pale yellow, because than the nails will have an unhealthy color ;)

That is true. When I used to wear all the different colors if the color was too transparent I had a bottle of white polish. I would put on my base coat, then a coat of white, followed by 2 coats of the colored polish, and then the topcoat. Boy, I had really thick polish on my nails back then!

HAH! That is the same exact brand (in your picture) that I used for my pedicure that I got at the beginning of May, when my sister and her friend came to visit me, so we had a girl day, and I chose THAT yellow for my toes! 2 weeks after my toes and finger polish started fading, I switched it up, black for my toe nails and the same yellow for my fingers.
I did NOT see any celebrities sport this theirselves, but then again, this isn't the first time this sort of thing happened.
It was in junior high, I LOVED my army jacket, so I wore it almost every second day, and sometimes I would bring my baby teddy bear where he would sit in my pocket, who do I see a picture of with the exact same thing? Army jacket and Teddy bear? Christina Aguilera.
Thank goodness I'm not overly paranoid, because then I would think cameras were following me everywhere! Haha.
But no, for NOW I'm just gonna go ahead and think it's just a coincidence.....until it happens again....then I might just have to keep looking over my shoulder lol.

I love yellow and it is one of my favorite colors, but yellow nails are ick! I have noticed more and more people wearing it and it looks like people have some type of fingernail fungus going on....just doesnt look right! I think between yellow and green, both those colors on fingernails are scary!

Actually the 2 celebrities that come to mind that I saw wearing yellow nail polish were Tiffany Pollard a.k.a. New York and Miley Cyrus. I think if you don't wear yellow with it then it just doesn't look right...

eww yellow nail polish. I think some of the movie stars wear strange things anyway. They can wear a million dollar outfit one day and get rid of it the next day. I have seen some of them wear big glasses that don't even look right on them. I have a hard time with most of the movie stars because the way they live there life and spend money like its nothing. When people need help they don't help like they say they do. I know better.

Hi schulzie...I don't think I have ever even seen yellow nail polish. I like to have more subdued colors when I do wear polish and I have worn gold in the summertime. But yellow....I'm not so sure..

I actually think, yellow nail polishes are so in, and cute too. However, i don't do manicures...and prefer pedicures. With that, I think, it doesn't the complexion on my toe area, since due to too much sun exposure, I believe I got tanner on that area...and with yellow, it might look more dark. It might look good on as manicure on me...however, I don't feel like putting too much color on my finger nails, because I think it wouldn't look good when I am with my baby. I just think that having clean uncolored nails suits moms that are carrying around their babies everywhere.

Yellow nail polish? EWE!! That is discusting. Personally I would think unless they have other colors or designs over them, that Yellow looks too jaundiced and not a Good choice for sure. Sometimes makes me wonder what their intent for a look is when they choose a color like this, especially when there are so many other colors out there to choose from.

I haven't noticed it either. I don't think I'd like it, but maybe if it was the right shade, it would be ok, but I doubt it lol. I could see it looking good on someone with darker skin coloring or tanned, but on my pale skin, don't think it would look good at all. I used to wear all the funky colors too when I was younger, but now I too stick with pinks and coral type of colors.

I am naturally very pale and don't think it would go well with my skin. However, I live in South Florida and have been taking in a lot of sun lately so I am pretty tanned. I think yellow would look good now that I am darker.

I saw it at the salon yesterday and was horrified! I don't even think that anyone should wear that. I'm just now starting to experiment with color again after wearing black for a while (black tips) but since everyone's doing it, I decided to go to a solid color. I think that Hollywood is too much of a 'follow the herd' kind of mentality, and no one stopped to think that this is actually a horrendous color to wear on their nails!

You're right! Yellow is so hard to match to anything but I think some people can pull it off.
So, black tips huh? Is that like a French Manicure only instead of white at the ends you paint it black? That sounds pretty cool and might be good for me as I almost always wear black every day. It would go with most anything in my closet.

Honestly, if I had the choice I would prefer to go with a neon or bright pink or orange myself over yellow. Yellow has never really looked great on me. However I think if you have a darker complexion or get a tan it could look really good...
