I ever heard and saw my friend had successfully diet and loose weight after she consumed the vegetarian way. For a non-vegetarian eater, it may takes months to be familiar with vegetarian food. My friend, takes around 2 months, to be able to fully adapt to the vegetarian food. But, to stay healthy the vegetarian way, you need to eat a balanced diet of every nutrition. A lack of any of the nutrients, will cause a serious health trouble to the vegetarian eater.

I have been vegetarian for almost two years and in the beginning I did lose weight, but then I added in some of the more filling and calorie laden carbs like bread, pasta, rice, and pizza. That is definitely not the way to lose pounds. If you stick to fruits, veggies, legumes and whole grains you are sure to lose weight. Make sure that you drink a lot of water to help the fiber get through your system and as long as you eat lots of beans and dark greens you don't need to worry about your iron and protein no matter what non-vegetarians tell you. My doctor says that I am doing just fine without the meat.
