Ok - So my husband always gets annoyed at me whenever I brush my teeth in the shower..I however don't see the problem with this. You know, you wake up and you take a shower and I have a toothbruth/toopaste in the shower so what is the problem with killing two birds with one stone - you know what I meanb? So mylot friends, answer me this: Do yo ever brush your teeth in the shower?

Yes you are right , killing two birds with one stone. Imagine how much water you can save when you brush your teeth while taking a shower. I do not see anything wrong with it. Perhaps he has some other reasons why he gets annoyed with it. So, why not ask him again....

Exactly...with the economy these days, it's good to try and save water. I have asked him why it bothers him and he says that it just seems wierd thaat I am brushing my teeth in the shower...

My husband and I both do that. I dont really understand how it would be a problem. How is it any different than brushing your teeth while standing at the sink? Unless of course you are looking at it from a strictly ecological standpoint. Than it could be considered a waste of water. You dont need the water pouring over you while you brush. But when you shower with someone else, that is never a problem!!

Haha - yes my friend, showering with someone else would definetly solve that problem ;) See, I don't really think that it is a waste of water because the water is constantly on when you are in the shower anyways, right...so a bit of tooth brushign while in there seems to be okay to me...Infact, to save time, I even try to brush my teeth while shaving my legs...okay - too much info, I know :)

I have never thought of doing that but I don't see anything wrong with it, In my house we only have 1 bathroom to share with my wife and 3 kids so sometimes it is hard to do everything in there. Brushing your teeth in the shower just frees up the sink so someone else can use it. If I can't get into the bathroom to brush my teeth sometimes I go into the kitchen and use the sink there. We also wash our hair there if we don't have time to take a shower. I would keep brushing your teeth in the shower if I were you.

I just recently do this and I've got the idea from one of my responses in my discussion. But what I normally do is brush my teeth after I put conditioner on my hair and leave the conditioner soak into my hair while brushing my teeth. And my Husband is doing the same, except on the weekend. It saves him some time specially if he's running late to go to work.

Yes I always do that. I even shampoo my hair or condition my hair while brushing my teeth in the shower. I guess there's nothing wrong with it especially when you are in a hurry of love multi tasking. But it depends if your in a shower with someone. He or she might not want to see something floating while showering.

Although I have never done it I see no problem with it at all. What are his complaints? IS there tooth paste on the tub or something that causes him to not want you to do it?

I rather brush my teeth in the shower. The way I brush my tongue I gag myself often and get chills on my legs and its nice to have the hot water hitting my legs when that happens. My husband brushes his teeth in the shower also. I don't see anything wrong with it.

Well, I 've never brushed my teeth in the shower but then again...what's wrong with it? when you think about it....what does it matter? Now my ex...he used to have a toothbrush and tube of toothpaste in the glovebox of his car. We'd be driving along and he'd reach over and grab his stuff and start brushing his teeth....no water...nothing. Now that, I thought was a bit weird but I got used to it. I can't stand still while brushing my teeth...hyper maybe? I don't know but I just can't stand in front of the sink watching myself in the mirror like in the toothpaste commercials. I walk all over my apt and do other things while brushing. Some think that's pretty weird. Who cares? your hubby needs to chill.

He would brush while driving?? Now I must admit that is a first! hahah..what - did he used to spit out the window or did he just swallow the toothpaste? Hahah... I plan to show my hubby all these responses and perhaps he will realize how silly he is being...

OH...he'd swallow it. It was different for sure. good idea to show this thread to the hubby. He is making an issue out of something that really shouldn't matter to him.

I, personally, do not brush my teeth in the shower because I cannot stand to brush my teeth with warm or hot water. But...I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. There are people that do a whole lot more (and worse) in the shower.

Practically speaking, there's nothing wrong with that as long as you're not actually taking the shower and brushing your teeth WITH your husband in the shower. If you were alone, what does he care? As long as you clean up after yourself, right? I don't know how much water you save though. And I kinda find the habit a little strange :P Can't imagine myself being comfortable with that although I wouldn't mind people doing it. Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

Yes I used to brush my teeth in the shower and just like you I don't see anything wrong with that. I can save time because I can do two things at the same time.

leysia, I feel that your husband is just being mindful about appropriateness and the spit from toothbrushing. I believe there must have been left behind on the shower floor and /or toothpaste in the shower. Check with him, I am sure there will be some similarities from what I have mentioned. Besides, I do not think you would not be saving water if you are letting the shower run while you clean your teeth. Also, you could be occupying space meant for showering unnecessarily i.e. he can't shower whilst you are brushing your teeth. So, no I would not shower and brush my teeth at the same time but I would when I am sitting on my throne. But, rarely though. Cheerio.

leysia, So, 3 bathrooms and your husband does not want to use the one in the master bedroom, I just wonder why? Is it declared Out of Bounds by your undoing or rather doings? Maggiepie, Well, don't assume my end as well, because I do not see anyway other than running those hot water to overcome the cold temperature times in the shower. So, just don't be too fast here.

You, as do others here, assume we're all letting the shower run constantly. I don't. To save not only on water, but to have hot water when I really need it from my cranky old heater, I first lather up my hair, then turn off the shower. I scrub up, let the soap sit in my hair while I do, & when I feel I've cleaned enough, I turn it back on & shower off. If my hair still feels less than clean (seldom the case), I'll repeat. So you see, I actually use very little water. If I were to brush my teeth in the shower, it would only take a second to jet water into my mouth to rinse. Of course, as I'm handicapped I have a shower chair to wait in while the water's off & I scrub, plus I'm retired & have all the time in the world, others might not be able to follow my example. I was brought up by a wee Scot of a Grandmother. "Waste" wasn't IN her vocabulary! Maggiepie

hi my friend...I noticed that a number of people mentioned that I may have left some toothpaste behind - however, I should clarify that we actually have separate showers .... he uses the shower on the 2nd floor (the same one that the guests would use) and I use the one in our master bedroom.......so even if there was any paste left behind, he wouldn't really see it since he never goes in the shower there :)

Never thought about it. Now I probably will! LOL! Some folks just get bent out of shape over the most insignificant little things. I mean, I could see it if you were peeing in the shower, maybe, but brushing your teeth? Shrug. Maggiepie

Also there seems to so many things that we have to have done each and every day, mulitasking is the only way to get everything done... Another "weird one" that I do in the morning, I start the coffee pot, and race it to get the dishes done before the pot is finished.. Its a way to fill that empty time that seems to take forever.. and my kitchen is all clean when I go to sit down and have that moment in the day when everything stops for a moment... that "aww" feeling.. Then its off to the races again.
