Hanging out here on the lot can really get those eyes burning and itching from spending "lots" of time on the computer.
so what do you do to keep those tired computer eyes sparkling?
I try to do some simple exercises , like when I am in traffic jam .. or maybe waiting on a line in the supermarket.. and even when I am trying to come up with a brilliant topic to share on the lot
So heres what I do . .I first look up and then down .. . the right and then left and then I roll my pretty blues all around! I try to do each movement 10 times .. each time looking as far as I can in one direction.
Any one else do this or maybe you have some other suggestions to keep your eyes from burning out . .

I excercise my eyes too. Just as you have mentioned.
Looking up,down, left, right and then rotate them.
If my eyes burn or hurt, I wash them with water. It feels much better then.
I also rub my palms together, and then gently keep them over my strained eyes. The warmth of the palms helps relax my eyes.I do this about 10-15 times.
Another thing I do is, just place cold cucumber slices on my eyes and stay that way for 20-30 minutes. Obviously, I do this when I am at home. This helps a great deal too.

cbeee3 .. isnt it just like you to come up with such a smart way to relax the eyes. . I love the hand warming idea ...and I just did it and it feels grrrreat
Ditto on the cucumber slices . . . . love that cold sensation they bring to the eyes!
Thanks for sharing ..
Hope you are having a great day,
Happy MyLotting to you,

that's a great game plan to tackle the tired eye syndrome. I have not yet reached the stage n tired eyes i guess because im not n mylot as much as other people. But i do know that when my eyes get tired when im on the computer i just basically leave the computer for a while and i go walk around then return back. I dont think its healthy to stay in front of the computer all day.

hey nalexis. .
Yes it is a good idea to look at it as a game plan. . I like that
ha ha at your age my eyes didnt get tired no matter what I did. . but as time marches on we need to take every precaution to keep things in working order
Anything in moderation is a good thing. . and you are right if you are spending too much time in front of the computer it is a wise thing to take a break!
Lotting to you and Welcome to the Lot!

It seems a lot of people are having eye trouble and this is a wonderful discussion to help out each other. I don’t do any eye exercise per se but now I think I’ll try out your suggestions. Regarding myself, when my eyes become very dry and irritated, I just close them for a few minutes, walk away from the computer and I also have this artificial tears solution which I use to keep my eyes lubricated.

Hi sudiptacallingu,
Eye trouble seems to be affecting more and more people ...and it is no wonder with so many of us working and socializing on the internet!
So a few little tricks like eye exercisers is such a great way to reduce some of the strain we put on ourselves.
I am glad you stopped by and are going to try some of the rolling eyes movements! They really fdo help!
Lubricating too is great and so soothing . .like a breath of fresh air for the eyeballs

sometimes i get worried when i have some early mornign headaches especially on days when i get too close to the computer screen especially in cyber cafes, i dont see reasons why they cant procure protective screens for their computers, these protective screens are just the size of the computer screen, they can protect the eyes from the rays

tundeemma,
Headaches . . . maybe there is a piece of something that you can find that can attach to the screen that is mobile for protection !
headaches are not a good thing and maybe if they get worse you should check into it. . maybe it is a stigmatism or something other than just eye strain. .
so thanks for sharing here. .
and happy Lotting to you!

i usually just get away from the computer for some times when my eyes got tired and come back again when i fell more refreshed... sometimes i also exercise my eyes like rolling them around for a few times like what you did... it is actually very refreshing and it gets better after that... take care and have a nice day...

I suffer with my eyes a lot probably because I spend so much time in front of the computer, I do try and have regular breaks or even sit and close my eyes. Sometimes when they get bad I get a flannel and run cold water over it and then I press the cold flannel onto my eyes and that relieves the dryness. Also cucumber believe it or not is excellent for the eyes, cut a piece of raw cucumber up and hold against each eye and that is sooooo soothing, works for me!

Hey there jezz .. happy to hear that you like this discussion . I figure with all of us MyLotters lotting away something has got to give and for me sometimes it is tired eyes
I like the idea of the cucumber cause when I do use them . it is soooo soothing . but that wont stop my crazy looking eye excercises. . the best is when you do them in the car in a traffic jam and the person next to you is watching .. . ha ha ha what a giggle I get seeing their expression!
You need not have any suggestions .. just seeing you here is great
Hope you are having a great day

My eyes trouble me a lot.I feel itching of eyes whenever I work for too long in a computer. I prefer lowering the brightness of my PC.
Just as you mentioned above,I try out this exercises too.Looking up,down, left, right and then rotating them helped me a lot.
I also prefer washing my eyes with cold water..I also prefer sleeping or taking a short nap when my eyes strained or I am having headaches due to the eyes.

Me too have been spending long hours on the computer for the sake of earning money. Like what I have mentioned in one of the related posts here, I seldom exercise my eyes. I noticed that if you close your eyes for a longer period , let say, 1 minute, it could help regain its focus again. Have a nice day.

I had such bad eye strain from looking at the computer that I decided to go to the eye doctor. It turns out that I have slight astigmatism in my right eye.
She gave me come computer glasses. I can see the screen better now and the eye strain is practically gone.

very smart for you to have gone to the eye dr. So many people just take thngs for granted and think that it will go away .. . So now you have glasses to correct the problem . .but still keep them eyes rolling for one can never get enough excercise!

Cold water is good for the eyes. You can wash them with cold water when they are feeling tired or some. The exercises you mentioned are good and they sure will help to relax the eyes.
The look as far as possible trick is for people who are always looking at things very close to their eyes like reading. When you look very far the eyes start to adjust the the distance and it wont affect the retina.

You should probably try not staying on the computer so long. It sounds like your eyes need a rest. I would take 10 minute breaks from the computer. However, you should probably take longer breaks.

Hi,
I never stuck on my display laptop more than 3 hours. For me, to avoid my eyes burning is to setting my display brightness at lowest level. then, I rather rest my eyes with sleeping for an hour before i am back again. refreshment is important because our eyes is the most valueable thing.
maybe i will try your suggestion to excercise my eyes,too..
