Christianity has three powerful beings. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. How they link together depends on the brand of Christianity.
Many believe that they are simply three views on the same entity - God. Others think that they are three different entities that we see as "God". Three different beings acting as one. As always with religion this gets complicated and people on each side of the fence get very passionate about which is "Right".

amat_dos - We have one "You". A single complete unit and yet you are made of different cells. Given we understand little of what "God" is, who is to say that a single God is not made of three elements. In John 14:25-26 Jesus makes it clear that he, Father and the Holy Spirit are not one entity. Plus in Genesis 1:26 "Let us make man in our image..." implies plurality in the Deity and Genesis 1:27 on the unity of the divine Essence.
efc872 - I would guess we would be incapable of doing so. The only thing capable of doing so would be a different god. But as (as far as Christians are concerned) God is the only god this is not likely to happen any time soon.

i discovered an interesting verse;Say: He is God the One and Only
God is Self-Sufficient(independent of all, while all are dependent on Him)
He begets not, nor is He begotten,
And there is none comparable to Him.
Hmm.. what do you make of that?

The Trinity represents the three perspectives that can be taken on God.
God in the 3rd person perspective, is the Holy Spirit, the great unifying suchness behind and as the ground of all creation.
God in the 2nd person perspective, is the Father, the great other, the one you give honor to and worship. The one who receives devotion.
God in the 1st person perspective, is the Son. Jesus taught that the Christ is within all the children of God. It is the great I which is the core of any and all who can say "I."
Simple, yes?

God does not represent three perspectives.
God the Father, is our heavenly Father, our creator.
Jesus, is the one and only Son of God. Our Saviour.
The Holy Ghost was left to be with us on earth, since it was Jesus time to go into heaven, to sit beside His Father.

Regarding the trinity, I think only two religions has it- hinduism and christianity.
The trinity concept of christianity is different from that of Hinduism. In Christainity, they have father, son and holy spirit while in Hinduism, it is generator, operator and destroyer {GOD}.

The Trinity, which will not be found in the Bible, is in reference to : the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

Well trinity simply means, The Father, Son and the Holy Spirit......
Well i know it sounds little confusing for a layman, but then The Father means the holy God, then Jesus is the Son of god and the holy spirit came down upon the earth after Jesus was taken up to heaven after his resurrection, it is also called as the Pentecost day......
You can read all the four gospels for more information, it is really interesting......
God bless you !!!!

The trinity in christianity is just some docterine that was declaired to be true by the catholics. It has since been either accepted or denied by various chrictian sects since then.
It's odd because there are a just a couple of references to it while there are dozens of references to Jesus and God as being phuysically and spiritually seperate beings.
I personally think it happened because people were praying to Jesus and that messsed with the whole monothieism thing they were trying to do.
With the concept of intersession from saints and the Virgin Mary Catholocism is basically a pantheistic religeon.
