Okay its dinner time. Time to create magic. Yeah right! Tonight I am making broiled terriyaki steak and chicken tips. This will be served with potato salad, a specialty of mine, and biscuits. I am starving! My potato salad is a secret recipe. I'll tell you the secret but then Ill have to kill you. I make it like everyone else with the egg, potatoes, and onion, mayo, a dash of mustard. My secret is vinegar, green pepper, and relish to give the sweet and sour thing. Now you know. My terriyaki sauce is soy sauce, sugar, and minced garlic. There you have it. My dinner. Now its only fair that you give me yours. dl

Chicken Livers? Oil? rolled in flour? Are you kidding? I dont eat any liver! Yuk! My mom and grandma used to go to this restaurant every tuesday for the liver and onions. They are crazy! I cant even imagine eating it. I dont think I could do it. I'd have a hard time eating chicken if I had to kill it myself. I feel very confident going to stop and shop and buying it. I was invited to a pig roast one time. I couldnt eat it. I felt like the pig was staring at me. dl

Hi Dloveli, dinner for tonight is really simple and for once, turned out fine. A baked fish, with sliced garlic, onion and chilli-shrimp paste. I baked it on either side for about 12 minutes; had it with a salad. It was one of the few fish dishes I enjoyed.

Hey Lazy! my daughter would love that. My dad makes baked fish with stewed tomatoes. She has talked about it ever since.(That was 10 years ago)lol. I dont understand our friends response to yours so I am going to leave it alone. Maybe they didnt understand the discussion. dl Let me know if you have any other suggestions for baked fish. dl

You never heard of steak and kidney pie? Oh dear...scratch it off your list darls, I don't think you want to know. I guess it's an English dish.
Sunshine is easy....do you know how to do mashed potatoes? Same thing but use pumpkin as well ...boil the peeled potato and pumpkin till tender, drain, add a good knob of butter and mash, then add a little milk to make a smooth consistency. You can add finely chopped onion and even cheese if you like. Go 50/50 with the pumpkin and potato or whatever blend you like. We have pumpkin all year round here and don't have it canned so I really cannot help you there.

Before I go any further, let me just tell you that I am very, very, picky. I eat the basics. What in the heck is kidney pie? Please tell me that its called that because you make it with kidney beans. The sunshine dish sounds like something I would like to make for my husband. He loves veggies! Is it hard to get pumpkin righ now? Can you used can pumpkin? I would really like to try it. WOuld you mind giving me the recipe. I am sure others would be interested as well. I am always trying to find interesting things to make. dl

For dinner today I am going out to an American Style Diner (I am English) and I will probably get a burger and curly fries. I fancy eating out for a change and this place is reasonably cheap. Last night I had Pizza as I didn't get in from work til 9:30pm and by that time I cannot be bothered to cook anything especially just for me as all my family have eaten.

YUM! I love burgers and fries. I love pizza as well! You have listed two of my favorites. I hate to come home after a hard day and have to cook. I am the same way with not wanting to cook so late. Then I have to clean it. I am not one to let it sit til morning. I will go for the quickest thing as well. I wish I lived where you do because here in the states its hard to find a good burger and frie combo without paying a fortune. If I were to go out for a easy meal such as burgers and fries, it would still cost a family of four about $50. To me that is too much. My husband is hispanic. Born and raised in Puerto Rico. His dinners differ very much from what we eat in my family. Since we have been together its funny because he is addicted to anything with Ketchup. He loves Burgers. His mom gets so annoyed when she calls and he tells her he's eating hamburger. Burgers are a gift from the gods. They can turn anyone into an american or americanize them I should say. Do you barbeque where you live? Happy MyLotting and Have a burer on me! dl

Yeah people do BBQ here, just not very often as the weather is usually not BBQ weather. I personally do not BBQ as our family do not own a BBQ but I have been to a few round friends houses and stuff.

Savy the ranch dressing sounds good. I have never had horse radish so I dont know what to think about that. I think that potato salad can be anything. Its like a blank slate. You can add you favorites and it will be different than your neighbors. THe simplest thing such as a dill pickle can make the flavors come together in such a way that you could eat it all day, everyday. I like dishes like that. dl

We have been cooking out a lot lately and it's usually hot dogs, cheeseburgers and either steak or chicken, depending what's on sale lol.
I haven't made tater salad in awhile, but I either make it the old fashioned german way, with beef broth, vinegar and salt and pepper or the other way my mom used to make it won special occassions, which is with eggs, cut up pickles and miracle whip.

YOu have just received best response! Any one who enjoys grilled burgers, chicken , steak, and especially dogs has to be acknowledged.lol I live on the second floor and unfortunately we dont have a porch. We are unable to grill. If we do, it takes an unnecessary amount of time just to bring everything down stairs. Then someone has to sit with the grill until it cools off because of the il-behaved neighborhood children. It became a hassle. As I was reading your response I was literally foaming at the mouth. lol I never thought about using miracle whip. It would be a great ingredient especially if you're making it last minute and dont have all the other needed ingredients. I am going to try that. Thanks. I am telling you if you get the chance, add a little green pepper. Slice it so its barely visible. THe flavor is outstanding. Happy Grilling my friend! dl

I like anybody who can make a mean potato salad. Partially because I cannot. Tonight for dinner I made sauteed squash and zuchini. I ate a pretty fair amount for lunch, so I went lite for dinner. But now I'm out of squash and zuchini, so I'll get some tomorrow. Along with some mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. Yummy (at least to me).

I love Cherry Tomatoes! Any Tomatoes for that matter. I must say that You and my husband would be perfect for each other. Veggies, veggies, and more Veggies. I like some vegetables. As for him He would rather eat vegetables and fruit more than anything. I cant believe it some times. As for my potato salad, it isnt difficult. Boil potatoes until soft and eggs until hard boiled. Put in fridge to chill for about 30 minutes.Chop up an onion and green pepper(1/3). Combine all ingredients in a bowl along with 1/2 cup mayo, 3 tspns mustard and relish, 1 tspn black pepper. Mix it all together top with paprika and a few slices of egg if you want. ENJOY! Let me know if you try it, please? Happy Veggies. dl

That sounds like a very good dinner. We had carry out from a restaurant since it was our 14th wedding anniversary. We had beef burritos, nacho chips mild salsa and some cheese dip. We also had some refried beans and some chopped lettuce and tomato with some sour cream also.

We're having tacos for supper tonight. It's nothing big, although we were talking about Baked Spaghetti. It's just a very simple meal. Of course, my cooking reparte is very limited, so everything is simple. lol

Never heard of Baked Spaghetti. Is this a recipe of yours or just one you have in your recipe file box. I have to admit I am not much of a pasta person, but I do enjoy spaghetti.

It's a pretty simple mixture of hamburger, rotini or rotelle noodles, spaghetti sauce and cheese. Bake it casserole style at 375 for 20 minutes. It's very good. We have it at least once or twice a month. Just depends on what we're in the mood for.

Thanks for sharing that potato salad and ive got to try it. my children will definitely love it. I love cooking but lately if im busy there so much options to have dinner. Since its sunday here, we can just go out and take burgers and chicken. However, i still have some "longganiza" in the freezer or to some its hungarian sausages. The difference is that our longanizza are small and has to be cooked into a perfect crispy little ones. Anyway, i bought salted egg and tomatoes to come up with a salad adding chopped white onions. Again, since sunday is supposed to be a rest day i orders fish fillet with brocolli and to complete the meal, cooked some mushroom soup. Our desserts - banana or papay and leftover icecream.

It sounds delicious! For a day of rest, you certainly have put on such a spread. I only wish I was there to try it. Thanks for sharing. Please let me know if you like the potato salad. If you would like to try some other recipes I have, let me know. I would be glad to share some with you. dl

My Husband is Puerto Rican so he likes alot of rice too. I dont mind it but it is fattening. I love spicy food though. I dont like when you order buffalo wings and when you get them all it is is fried chicken with hot sauce poured all over it. Spicy means spices not hot sauce. Rice is good but not all the time. I have trouble making rice. It seems to get mushy. Yuk. Have a nice day! dl

I'm not a good cook, so when we eat at home we eat simply just like rice, vegetable with seasoning and fried dishes. I can not make broiled steak and chickens. I hope I can learn many cooking methods.
There is one word "if you want to keep your husband you must keep his stomach first" which means delicious food.

Wow I just ate dinner not long ago but you have me drooling from your post, lol. I think I'll add vinegar next time I make potato salad, it makes sense since you put it in deviled eggs and it makes them taste great.
For dinner tonight I made country fried steaks with a peppered cream gravy (I cheated and used a packet gravy mix), mashed potatoes, and corn. It was just delicious especially since I haven't made it in such a long time.

You boil some chicken. Then you fry it quickly in olive oil and cut i to pieces. Then you boil some pasta and put in a bowl with the chicken. You cut some tomatoes, mango and random vedgetable (whatever you have) and then you blend it all in the bowl. You also add some salat and some dressing. Delicious! :D love it!
