I have, more than once. It took time for me to learn that they were not for me - sometimes the hard way. I've got hurt; in fact the hurt was self-inflicted. If I had not had too high hopes, I'd not be hurt at all. This happened as I had lots of free time then to think of those girls who were not meant to be mine. To tackle this situation, I'd make myself busy, chat with other friends while not ignoring the "apples of my eye". Treat them as friends, too. I lost a friend once because I was so deeply attracted to her that I felt jealous because I knew I she couldn't be mine as she already had a boyfriend - my ex-classmate. I sure did not repeat that mistake.
