In this difficult times, people usually find other ways to save money. And in this very "visual world" nowadays, where printing is a very big business, one of the ways people usually do to save money with regards to ink usage is to just refill their ink cartridges. And this is because, many think this more economical. But what do you think about this one?
Do you refill your ink cartridges or do you buy new ones?

I refill my ink in the photocopy shop near my home. It's far cheaper than buy an original new ones. But I only can refill 3 times, after that I will buy a new one.. I think I can save money and environment by doing this

well...to a certain extent, it's true you save the environment but is there a guarantee that the ink they use could also save the environment? The manufacturer could have used some toxic materials that is bad for your health or the environment - who knows? Practically speaking, though I love a clean environment, I wouldn't stinge on buying an original ink if I could afford it. In the long term, your printer would be very thankful to you... if you know what I mean

Yes, you're right kevchua.. but if we buy original ink, we must buy with its cartridge too.. I think this is what makes original ink more expensive. Yeah, wondering what my printer will say to me if it can speak,,

Well, I think we just need to do everything to save the environment. And when I say everything, it will include simple ways like refilling our ink cartridges because in that way we can help lessen the trash that will go our dumpsites - imagine if we will buy new ones always, for sure it will just increase the rate/speed of filling up our dumpsites.
Thanks for the responses guys!

I refill my ink cartridges instead of buying new ones. The refill cost 1/4 of the cartridge and it can fill fully for four times and that is sure worth the money and saves a lot too. After all, why do we need to waste on buying more cartridges and after we use we are going to throw away the cartridges and that will be polluting our earth since it is not bio-degradable.

I buy the original, then have the cartridge refilled for about 4-5 times, before I go buy a new one to be refilled again. I was told by a staff in an ink refilling station that original cartridges have limits as to how many times they can be used for refill. I go for the the "replacement" too, these are the ones that are not branded. Though the branded ones say the refills can damage the printer, I still use them because they are cheaper, and so far my printer is still in good shape.

I like to refill my ink cartridge because I don't like to through everything which can still use more. I can repair some broken things even repair cost some time nearly same buy the new one. I worry about our the old thing status such as: old car, computer, house, book, software, etc. Maybe we need the new policy for development.

If I could afford, then I'd get original ink cartridges. Otherwise, I'd just use refills. Using refills is far cheaper BUT the quality of the ink and print is questionable; often, they're not as good as the original. I'd still stick to originals for now as I don't print often. At least it's guaranteed to print well.
I agree with what one of my friends had said: Good things not cheap, cheap things not good (in general terms, so please don't start yelling your head off when you read this statement).

To tell the truth. I usually just buy a new ink. But then i change to refilling as it is much cheaper. Lately I had a project and i try to print the info the night before just to find out that the printer ink was finished (refill ink cartridges cause the estimate ink check to not work) so i did not know when the ink was about to finished. Luckily i had a generous neighbor who was willing to help, way in the late hours. Lately i have been contemplating whether to refill or just buy a new ink cartridge.

We have a printer and my brother bought it. He really doesn't like to have the cartridges refilled or use alternate types. He really prefers the branded ones. Its not because we are rich and we prefer to support the real deal.. though would be nice if we could always purchase originals. The reason why my brother doesn't want to venture on refilling or using other unknown brand cartridges is because we did that before with a previous printer/scanner and it just rendered it useless. We only now use the scanner feature..
There are also continuous ink set ups for different printers these days. The one at work actually is rigged like that since we often print a lot of things. We only have to worry about paper supply. Is it eco-friendly that way?
Anyway, I really do like to have our printer rigged to something like that at work but, its my bro's printer and I wouldn't like to have another useless printer (^_^")

That's why I think its better to have those old printers that can still print documents even if you have one empty cartridge loaded. Most printers now-a-days can't print if even one ink cartridge doesn't have any ink in it at all.. I think continuous ink set ups would work nicely wit them compared to the new ones that we get to see being sold now-a-days.

The cost of a new cartridge is nearly equivalent to half the cost of a new printer. The companies have kept the cost of the printer low and have kept the cost of the cartridge very high in order to make recurrent profits. It is best to get the cartridge refilled at 1/4th the cost of a new cartridge.

I usually refill ink cartridges because it's cheaper. Then I buy new ones too but not the original or the branded one. There's a cheaper one which is compatible with the original. So far it's okay and saves us a lot since we just don't print everyday only for assigments or homeworks for school.

On my old inkjet printer, I buy packs of ink to refill my cartridges, which works perfectly fine for the price I get them at. However, on my new laser printer, it has a sensor on the print cartridge which detects the amount of ink inside the cartridge, so it is hard to reset it, and I do not have any time to do that. Therefore, on my new laser printer I just buy new ink cartridges, every three months or so, as I do not print out things very often.

I go to my local print or computer store and ask them to refill my cartridges. They are pretty nice about doing it for me. I save money from not buying new fresh cartridges and save the environment by not using so many cartridges.

Many people think that when they buy less they save more but its actually the other way around. I tried buying the refill ones rather than buying new but i realized after its not really worth it the quality is being compromised and we don't like that. The refill inks doesnt last long like the new ones, so we end up buying again not realizing that we are actually spending more. So i do not really recommend refill inks.

Yep, I sure do prefer to refill my old ink cartridges rather than buy new ones. But of course, when the printer itself is not accepting the cartridge anymore then I would be obligated to buy new ones. A decision that I put off as much as I can. There is also a possibility of selling the old ink cartridges that I cant use anymore. That's also one way of maximizing the potential of those unused ink cartridges.

I tried refilling my cartridges once, what a mess!! And then it kept clogging up and wouldn't come out. I buy the generic or knock off brand for my printer. I buy them on the internet from a company I trust. Refilling just didn't work for me, maybe it works for someone else, if so, that's great! I'm all for recycling.

i either refill my ink cartridge or buy a recon ink cartridge. the reason behind is not because i want to save the environment, just to save my pocket. after all it is my hard earned money. of course, new ink cartridge will have a better printing quality, but quality of printing is just my second concern after the cost saving of refill ink cartridge that i can have.

Since the economical downturn of our enconomy, I am always looking for ways to save money. Unfortunately, one of my many ways to save was to refill my printer ink cartridges. I found this task to be unbelievably messy(I tried to do them myself). I never knew when to stop pushing the solution into the sponge until it overflowed. After many unsuccessful attempts to get it right, I gave up and took the empty cartridge to a refill center, only to find my printed material didn't have the quality that I was looking for. So, to eliminate my frustration I then have decided to purchase my ink cartridges brand new from now on

I always buy new catridges after finishing the old ones. I do not refill the old ones.
