Seeing everyone is cutting back on their energy useage... I was wondering those of you in warm climates or are in your summer season.. what temperature do you keep your air conditioning on?
I keep mine on "energy saver" mode & I try to keep it on 74 sometimes I keep it higher just cause I don't need it running as often & of course to save a few $ on the utility bill.

I keep my air conditioner in 25 degree(Celsius). Because that is the temperature I feel most comfortable in. I feel a bit cold in 24 and a bit hot in 26 so better 25.
I don't use the energy saver mode, because my a/c gives jerks in middle and re-starts itself, that sudden sound irritates me and I can't sleep properly at night, so I turn off the a/c completely when the temperature reaches 25 degree, but sometimes I don't realize and the a/c is on for whole night, which lead to a huge bill at the end of that month.
I need to be more careful from now onwards!

I keep my air conditioner setting on 70 degrees. Of course when I leave my apartment, I set the air conditioner on 80 degrees. I really can't afford to get hot because heat can cause a headache, or it can upset my stomach. When I get home it doesn't take too long for the air conditioner to get cool again at 70 degrees. Sometimes at night if the day hasn't been in the 100s, I'll turn the air up to a little higher than 70 degrees.

We are in Florida so the humidity is what gets to us...we try to keep the ac on around 77-78 but sometimes lower depending on how hot it is. We are definitely hating how expensive our electricity bills are lately. But at least in late September/October it will start to cool down a little so that we can start to open our windows at night and not use the ac at night.

I've kept ours off alot this summer as it's been unusually cool. But our house is the kind that keeps the heat in @ summer but lets it out in winter. Yay for old houses that I can't afford to upgrade!

I live in a tropical country and we only have 2 seasons - the dry and wet/rainy season. Of late it's been very humid even during the rainy season. I turn on the air conditioner every night because I have two kids who won't be able to sleep at all and will be very fussy if the AC is not turned on. My electric bill is high and even higher during summer but I have no choice because I too wanna have a good night sleep and this won't happen if it's too warm to sleep.

well, we've pretty much turned off the house ac and are running window units in the rooms we are in at the time. I'll admit that I go in and start the ac in my bedroom before I go to bed most nights, but I try to be good about turning off the ac in whatever room I leave if I'm going away for a time

Same as you, 74! I remember during the Carter administration, they told us to keep it as 78 in the summer and 68 in the winter and that was just unlivable in the summer! Winter was fine, I like the cold, but older people couldn't take it. If the day is dry with little humidity, I'll crank it up to 76 and turn on the fans and stay comfortable that way as well as save a little money.

Hi 3SnuggleBunnies. I live in South Carolina and the humidity level is super high here during summer. I keep my thermostat set to 72. After reading this discussion I am thinking I should bump it up a notch or two. Happy MyLotting!

Hi snugglebunnie, I don't actually like air con as it spreads germs around so much and is supposed to be quite unhealthy. Ehe people who do have it here find it crazy expensive to run with the enormous hike in electricity prices.
We get round the heat this year, barely, by moving downstairs to the bedroom areas where it is a lot cooler than upstairs, and having the fans down there on constantly and all the windows open.
