Do you wear TIPS on your nails? I've Just Started.

I think that is what they are called. The manicurist glues on tips and then file them down and fill in with gel. I have horrible nails that break and crack so easily and had the nail extensions done before my holiday, and made sure that the nails were cut as short as possible and had a french manicure. They really look nice and no one has noticed that the nails are not mine as they tips are not very long. I think that I have already said thatThe length is definitely age appropriate. Anyway, I love my new nails and am going to try and keep them. It is the only thing that is cheap out here and it cost me about US$10 a month to keep up. So I bought a pair of rubber gloves to use for washing up as I do not have a dishwasher. So do you wear tips, or are considering to wear tips? rally love mine and now flash my hands in people's faces!!!

Hello cynthi, my nails are just like yours. They are really really thin, and the break and tear way up past the quick. I'd love to have tips on mine but I read and heard that getting them make nails do what mine already do on their own without any help. I'm so glad that you are happy with yours. I love the look of a french manicure. Let me know in a month or two if they make your nails brittle or break. I hope they don't. I too wash dishes by hand and do many of cleaning things and I don't use gloves ...yes, I know I should but I keep forgetting to buy me some.

Yes she did say that it takes time for them to strengthen again - but mine are no good to begin with so while I mam working I am going to have them done and looking nice. Blessings

I have fairly good nails to begin with so I don't use tips. I did get them once though for my wedding because I didn't have all even nails. It turned out really nice. My problem with the tips was that when it came time to take them off at the nail salon, my real nails became paper thin. I couldn't believe how much the acrylic ruins your natural nails. It took a long time for my nails to get strong again. I'll never get tips again.

If I had good nails then I would do my own too. All of my life I have hid my hands because of my deadful nails. Now I feel great. I am going to continue as I am still working and this will be my treat. I will have more ramen soup!!!

hi jillhill, it's good to have a treat for yourself especially your nails. i am happy for people who really take time to do self-care. if you're not so happy doing it yourself... go and have someone a specialist do it for you. relaxing and will really make you feel beautiful.

Now that I am older it just seems fun to have and I adore them and as long as I am working will try to keep them up. We go through different stages in life and this is my time for nails!

Hey there cynthiann I would love to have a manicure on a regular basis but my lifestyle won't really allow it!! LOL I can't stand wearing rubber gloves when I wash the dishes because I can't feel anything and I don't like that. I don't go out much, well hardly ever actually so I have nothing to really look good for. I don't think anyone is bothered when I am doing the school run! LOL I might treat myself next birthday though just to make myself feel good!

I feel so well groomed with them and they are so natural looking. I know that manis are expensive where you live but you feel so good afterwards. when my sisters are coming over from the U.K. they wait until they are here to have a mani and a pedi as they are so cheap. My sisters also have tips on their nails. I love it.

I had my nails done for over a year and I loved them but then one day I didn't feel like sitting there getting them done so I had them taken off. Ever since then my nails peel and chip really bad. I may think about redoing the tips again someday as I hate the way they are now. It seems to make them very weak when you take them off. Good luck I am sure they look great and I am jealous...

YO)u are so nice! Thank you - I am so enjoying them. I look at them a dozen times a day and can now flash my hands around like my daughter. She also has dreadful nails. I plan to keep them until I stop working. tomorrow I get my first fill with the gel. I have gone nearly four weeks. Many thanks for sharing

I had gotten acrylic nails a few times in my life. They look nice instantly but are pricey to maintain here. I think they can be here $30-50 a fill. I do know how to do my own. But I only do that when I grow out my real nails and I break one I'll get a fake tip and put it on myself it's not that hard & doesn't hurt like the acrylic ones do when they break. I can't wait til I grow mine out again.... but that won't be until my son is 3 and hopefully will keep junk out of his mouth! *LOL* It's hard to fish stuff out of their mouths with long nails.

Ouch! That is so expensive. I oculd not afford to pay that price for my lkittle vanity! Enjoy your son - I miss my grand twins so very much now they are with their mother.

I should but with as tight as our money is, I can't afford it. I used to wear acrylics when I was like 18... those are the full nails, not just the tips. It would cost me like $30 each time to get them done, and I'd have to go every other week. I didn't care, I had the money. My nails are terrible too, and I don't bother doing anything with them most of the time because it's like a never ending battle!

No, it would be a waste of money at this time. I would not do it if it cost be US$30! I've had bad nails which I've hid all of my life. Blessings

I have never had any tips but think they are very attractive on other people. I don't like real long nails. i keep mine fairly short & can't keep them clean no telling what's growing under these big ol' long nails, yuck.

I think that well groomed nails are very pretty. I use to try and keep mine in shape too. I had nail tips once and wear them for about three weeks. I never went back and had them redone. Since your discussion I have learned that the trick is to keep them normal short. That was my problem with mine. Too long....That might be the thing that I could do to cheer myself up a little..Thanks..Great discussion..

I've had nails problems for all of my life including a fungal problem. I have tried everything and I still have the problem. So I decided for them to look good on holiday and I am going to keep them now. I feel so good with them and they are short and look so natural. Blessings

hi cynthiann, yes. i like french tips on my finger and toenails. the usual or standard color is white for the tip but i tried using a red tip. my husband complained and found it so grouse. he told me that it seemed like i scratched on something with blood and the blood sticked on my fingernails ewwww... bwahahahahahaha. from then on i never had any tip color except for white. go girl have fun with tips. experiment with colors but never on red or black.

Hi cynthiann! I really love wearing those tips on my nails however I am a sole hand person at home doing all the household chores. I think those tips will rotten from oversoaking in water and might affect my original nails. Maybe I'll try it some time when I have a housekeeper at home to do the chores for me. Good Day!

Hi cynthiann! I never wore tips. I think it looks nice on others. but not on my nails... I cant keep them. I play guitar. Strumming its strings would ruin "the tips" if ever I get one.

I dont and have no intentions of doing so because I play the guitar most of the time when Im free so if I had long nails, it would scratch it.

I have never worn tips on my nails before. I cannot do anything with fingernails on. They get in my way of getting things done. My daughter and my sister wear them and really like them though.

I dont wear nail tips. i dont know how they would look on me. My fingers are kind of fat anyway. I'm not really sure if I could get any nail tips that would look right on my hands. It might be difficult to do. I think it would be something I would be trying to make work that isn't meant to.

My fingers are a bit large too but they have tips in all sizes. If your nails are good then you needn't bother with getting tips. Blessings

I don't take care of my nails. I do think they are called tips... but am not sure. A french Manicure is white nail polish on the tips right? eh, I've never had it professionally done so I wouldn't know for sure... I don't take care of my nails, but they don't chip that much anymore... YAY! I let them grow long and then cut them. I have a habit of playing with my nails though!

Your nails sound very nice! I used to do nails, myself, but never did have a chance to learn how to do tips. We learned how to do acryllic nails in school. I really enjoyed this class. I can't wear tips or acrylic nails since I play the guitar, though. You have to have short nails to play the guitar and the tips would get in the way. Dolly Parton has acryllic nails and she plays the guitar. I don't know how she manages, lol! Kathy.
