Last friday i hired two brothers to paint the inside of my house. I didn't know then personally but had known who they were forever & knew some of their family members. T hey seemed to be the nicest young men & I JUST FELL IN LOVE W/BOTH OF THEM wE WERE HAVING THE BIGGEST TIME, I WAS COOKING FOR THEM & REALLY WAS ENJOYING THEIR COMPANY PLUS THEY WERE DOING AN EXCELLANT JOB.sUNDAY AFTER THEY LEFT I WENT TO TAKE MY LAST PAIN PILL FOR THE DAY. i HAD JUST HAD THEM REFILLED FRI. BUT I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A HALF OF A BOTTLE LEFT. I knew one of them had taken them, i was just devastated for more reasons than one. Of course they both denied knowing anything about it but since they were the ones in my house sun. i knew it had to be one of them. Needless to say the painting has stopped, I went & talked to the police & that did no good at all which is what i figured. That's why there is soo much of that crap that goes on here & everywhere else to I guess. Don't u just hate to be disappointed in people u like??

That is horrible. You just cannot trust anyone these days for nothing. I am very leary of people around here also and watch their every move. It is sickening that they stole pills from you. The police around here will do not do a thing about it either. It is just sickening.

Hi my friend!
Of course who else have taken them but one of them or both of them might have conspired. We really don't know but surely they are the main and the only suspects. It surely is very disappointing to know the people you liked and trusted would even steal things from you. Despite all the good deeds you showed them they did not even care and still went on stealing. I've had such kind of experience too so I understand your very feelings. It is really so devastating. Sometimes, it is really hard to just trust people. I remember when we were renovating our house, this one laborer who happens to be the son of my childhood playmate also betrayed my trust. He stole all the weights in our mini gym which my husband bought for his workout. He was the only suspect because all evidences pointed out to him. Well, that was really devastating because we trusted him so much.

I have not had this happen to me but I can understand how you feel. You knew these brothers and think you can trust them with anything and then something like this happen. The police probably want to know if you saw them do it or could prove it without evidence they could not do anything. Yes, I would hate to trust a person and then have something like this happen. I would be very disappointed in the person I thought had done that to me. I would not want them in my house again.

That is really sad. I hope they are not scamming other people they work for that way as well. I know you will be short of meds this month because of this. You filed a police report, that is about all you can do.

hmm.. well before you accuse people you need to have an evidence first.. there are lots of possible answer about that issue.. Maybe you forgot to refill it and maybe you are thinking that you did refill but you didnt. Investigate first.

My goodness..jhenny, please take a look at the number of discussions, this truly respected lady of the community has brought to myLot, and hopefully you will treat her with more reverence. I see that you are new on myLot, so it is a really good time to treat all with respect, and NOT denigrade their character. Enjoy your stay here!

That is just very sad. Nowadays, it's hard for us to trust people. Basically, it's really not their fault. Somewhere along the line mainstream society and the system probably have twisted them in some way, it could be anything really. But it happens to the best of us and we at the bottom of society itself has very little we can do about it. We can only sculpt the lives of a few but we could never do it for everyone. I've helped a few in the past, some have turned and some have became better people. Well, we can't save em all. But it's good to give second chances to people after showing them how nice we are and giving them hope, showing them a better way of life, and if after that it doesn't work, we move on and help someone else. Of course I have other methods of dealing with people from both extreme ends. But I'll skip that for another discussion. Cheers!

Why would a young men want pain killer pills? I think it´s so terrible when you have someone in your house and you have to keep checking what they are doing? I had such a problem last year with a nephew of a lady I know. She is adorable so I supposed the nephew was like her. He even stole my credit card and tried to use it at a machine. Needless to say, the machine blocked it. And he put it back at home and that´s how I found out what he had done. He also stole some money I had at home. As I live alone I don´t keep anything locked.
I´m so sorry you had that bad experience.
Take care.

I had a similar experience like you had, but it's not connecting stealing, it's about quality of their works.
almost 8 years ago i bought a new flat and i needed to decorate it. so i hired a group of workers to do the job for me. Because i did not know anything about decoration, also i did not spend my time on it. These people seemed good and worked very well at beginning, so everytime i visited my flat i took some fruits, one time i even paid them tips for their jobs. however at the end of decorations i found they decreased the cost of paiting materials and made the walls awful. i found the reason then i was very angry.
i told the boss of these workers i paid very well for the work and i also very trusted you, but you made me so upset. at last they returned my wall money and said sorry to me. however i still felt unhappy with it.

All they are looking for is payday or what they can steal from u. Actually i was very pleased w/the job they were doing . U have a great weekend.

Apparently, you were fooled by their charms. In the Bible it says, what ever you sow, you shall reap it in time. Sometimes, we have to trust people... but always be careful and keep your eyes wide open.

Yes, definitely. I had the same thing happen to me, but instead of two nice fellas who were painting my house, it was my uncle who stopped by when I was visiting my grandparents. He has keys to their house, and the next morning when I got up...bye bye pills! At the time, I was taking them because I had just had my wisdom teeth removed.

Hi ya ANTIQUELADY
It is awful when we put such trust in people that appear to be so genuine and nice. It really is a let down and you could kick yourself for trusting them so much. I am lucky that this has never happened to me in my home but I have been so disappointed and let down by others in the past.

I could kick myself of course if that were possible. I hate to be disappoined in people that i like. I had grown very fond of both of them in the few days they were here & was very pleased w/their work.

How awful for you it is a shame these days ,you don't seem to be able to trust anyone. The police sound as useless as our.It is the victim that suffers and the criminal just gets away with it.Fancy taking someones pain pills what is up with them. The funny thing is if they had asked you ,you would have gladly helped them out.Take care, sue.

I hate what is happening in our society today. Desperate times do call for due diligence though. I learned this a good time back when someone quite close to me stole money from my wallet. I know he did it, but I can't prove it. I know that there are still good people in the world, but I fear the growing number of bad ones.
Pain pills (and some other medications) have quite a high street value, one only has to read the newspaper to realiz that. That does not make it right,of course, it is still theft. I would rather deal with a beggar on the street than with a thief in my own home.
I have always prided myself of being quite good at "reading" people, but not so much anymore. The people we least expect are the ones wearing the most deceptive masks. It is sad, but true.
Chalk it up to a lesson learned, and try not to let it get you down or make you bitter. Sometimes there is just no understanding to be had regarding other people's actions or behaviors. Kind of makes you long for the good old days, doesn't it?
