Are you patient enough to read a long discussion?

Sometimes we can find long discussions in mylot. Some of them are so long that they can be called articles. I usually do not have enough patience to read such discussions. Meanwhile I do not like only one-sentence discussions, either. What's your opinion about long or short discussions? Please share.

hello lucy^^;; nice question here I do read long discussion when they are interesting and I am patiently reading too the responses even if they are too many. But if the topic is something that is not my care even if its the top discussion of the day, then i won't bother to read all the post. I like reading but it depends on the content if it's sensible, funny or intriguing. Neither do i like one sentence discussion since you will be expecting the comment of the starter to be another one sentence. It makes me feel bad when i try to explain something and the reply would just be ..."thank you for your response" have a nice day

I have grave doubts about this business of rreeading these long paragraphs and things like that. I usually run through them and try to get the gist of it before writing a response. But that is all I do. I think we should stay away from the lengthy stuff. This site is about short and to the point ideas and responses.

Not so. Read what is written by the managers to the left of every posting page: "Please be as descriptive as possible." Both long AND short posts have their place here. Just because you don't choose to read the longer ones doesn't give you the right to tell everyone else it's what we should "stay away from." MyBot is a vast & varied community. No-one except the owners of this site have the right to dictate what is & isn't acceptable. Maggiepie "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?"

If I find the topic interesting, & the writer has done full research on it, plus written it clearly & interestingly, I read it. If it's very long, I may put it aside 'til I can give it the time it deserves, but I will read it. If it then needs an answer, then I'll answer. If it seems complete, then I won't. Hello lucy, If the title is interesting enough I would read the discussion. If the first few lines makes me more interested I can patiently read the rest of the discussion. I have no problems with short discussions, as long as the sense of the discussion is there. some times I also like straight to the point contents of a discussion than making it long. have fun mylotting!

It depends on how interesting the discussion is. If the discussion has a climax I will definitely have time to read through it. I hate one sentence post if it's crap. But when somebone pull off a nice one sentence post then whats there to hate?

Hello,Lucy67,although so far ,I haven't seen any very long discussions in mylot,I know what you said is right, because I'm a newcomer. In my opinion, I prefer the short discussions, the reason is that our time is very limited, we have not enough time to read the whole articles.Only the articles is very useful for he/she.

If they are too long, and if it is the end of the day, no, I don't have the patience to read them. Unless it's a post by a person I already know, maybe somebody in my 'friends' list, and then I take the time to read it carefully, no matter what. I think they deserve it, and they would probably do the same if it were one of my posts. I guess these articles are written in order to get something out of the 'system' of the person who writes them. And I'm sure SOMEBODY readds them, but it's always better to know that person first. One-liners or very short posts I don't even read, I might scan them quickly, but that's about it.

I think that it's a good idea to real all discussions whether they be long or short. Lengthy discussions are created generally because of what My Lot requires, they ask that you be very descriptive, write more than four lines and things like that. I don't have a problem with short or long discussions, I read them all and respond appropriately. Andrew

This is a good question. I have come across many long discussions. I am not patient enought to read all long discussions. If I am relaxed and have a lot of time I read those discussions and respond to them. I also go through those discussions even in busy time if I find the discussion very interesting; otherwise not.

No. I'm not patient enough to read a long discussion. I suppose its because I don't have a lot of time during the day to read entire discussions. I wish I had more time to read the discussions on MyLot. I'm sure my answers would be a lot more thought out and better constructed.

I start to read a long discussion and if I do not fine it interesting I will not read all of it and probably not respond. One sentence discussions are really just asking a question and want you to respond to that question. Sometimes I will answer the questions depends on the question.

lol, frankly no, i dont bother. coz i need to have as many post and comments as i can. though, some long post looks like copy and paste only. it not really coming from their own thought. you will see it. though i dont want to judge them as its their one way of sharing something here in mylot so that other member will also be informed about it. though sometimes, if the topic is interesting then i will bother to read it and give comments but one is enough.

Depending on the topic, I will read the long discussions, but if it doesn't hold my attention beyond the first 2 or 3 paragraphs, I just skip them. I really dislike the simple little one sentence posts that require a short litt answer, it is really difficult to get a good discussion going. I also don't care for the off topic bantering that can happen between 2 or 3 people, with no room for interjection or comment from anyone else, but I just skip past them. My favourites are usually around 1 - 3 paragraphs in length, and well thought out. I like to have to think a little bit about my response, so those posts catch my attention most often.

Hi, Lucy! I am patient in reading a long discussion especially when the topic is really interesting and catches my attention. However, if I already have so much input in my head, sometimes, I just do not bother to read it at that very moment. I usually will take a break for a while or just skip it. One-sentence discussion is sometimes very straightforward and I can actually reply longer , but often times it is just so funny and always misleading.

I don't usually read long discussions. Seeing the number of words used or the paragraphs makes me look for another one to respond to. Call it laziness but that's the way i am. I am a bit lazy really reading long discussions where there are some short one which I can respond to and are also interesting. However, i still believe that long discussions are sometimes more interesting because of it's detailed content. Though i prefer short discussion, i also check and respond to long discussions sometimes.
