I love books a lot, i have all kind of books, and no matter what i will keep this books all my life in my home, even i reading all already; i think that a book can be a very good friend.
My grandparents were teaches both and they learn to me to love books, and i try to say this my kids too....but seems that is hard to make young to love books when is more easyer to open the internet.
Any way, how many books do you have, what kind of book, and you try to keep this books no mater what?

The ability to escape into a fictional world is a gift. I have enjoyed reading since I was young. My favourite book as a child was the Magic Faraway Tree. It's about children climbing a tree in which they go into a new world every day. Topsyturvy land was my favourite. Imagine if the world was truely upside down! Then there was Old Mother Hubbard Land who lived in the shoe.. I must've read that book about 20 times!
I have also relied upon books to educate myself as I left school at 14. I consider myself to be fairly knowledgable and it's all because of books.

I never used to like to read but I read this one book and couldn't put it down. They made a movie out of it. it's called "Public Enemies". The book is really good for poeple who like to read about crime and the FBI. It's about the Big Crime Wave of the 1930s and how all the major criminals were taking down and about the bith of the FBI.

I'm not really fond of reading books. However, I have a couple of Guinness Book of Records here. A Bible as well and some mini encyclopedias.

My husband and I have a lot of books in our house. I have made it a goal to buy something new from my reading list every month, and he is interested in reading a lot of the books that I have been buying.

Wow, I wouldn't even TRY to begin counting how many books I have. I know it takes about twelve 2 cubic foot boxes to pack them all, so there's a fair amount. Most of my books are fiction, but I have a lot of biographies. A nice mix of hard and soft covers from a variety of genres. I'm a book nut.

I do love my books. The problem is I don't always have the means to buy them.
Nowadays its a lot easier for children to look at TV or use the net so people grow up without knowing the value of good books.
Sad.

We are avid readres in our home my wife and I. When we have finished reading them we take them to nusing homes and donate them. We also live in a co-op and there is a place to leave books to share with your neighbors. Regarding books and children espricially in this computer environment, the best way to get them reading a book is to gifet them one, or give them a gift certificate to purchase.

Oh my, how many books DO I have? Uh, well my bookshelf is completely full, I have a self under my tv and other various books scattered around the house. I'malso not counting the ones I have lent out so I'd say I have alot.
Most are fiction, a dictionary or two, some other refrence material and alot of manga (comic books) as well.
I've gotten rid of quite a few of my books because I honestly don't have the room. It broke my heart to see them go, but it was a matter of space and right now I need all I can get.

That's a problem for many of us. Too much furniture in a room, and not enough bookshelves. It is hard to get rid of books, it makes me feel like I am doing something really, really bad - Then sure enough, a month or two later and I am looking for the book I just got rid of, it never fails!

I know how that feels... I just got rid of a book and my friend asked if she could borrow it. I'd forgotten about it and spent so much time looking until I remembered that I got rid of it .

I am completely addicted to books! I tend to buy them (or swap through bookmooch)quicker then I can read them all though so the amount keeps increasing. I havent counted them all, but probably have over 800 books in my home now, around 200 read that I will always keep and the other 600 waiting to be read, so don't think I will ever run out of reading material!
Now I tend to pass books on when I have read them if they are not favourites that Ithink I will read again. I would rather other people could enjoy them rather then my books just sat on a shelf gathering dust!

Hello icesmile, I too love books, and have a lot of them a lot of them on religion, and on herbs, and healing. I always was fascinated when I would hear my mom, and grandmother talk about when they were sick, how their parents would go to the woods, and get certain herbs for what ailed them, because they didn't go to the doctor, also I like reading about things that happened befor my time like how people survived on so little, and how it takes so much for us. Well to tell you the truth I have no idea how many books I have, but it a lot. My children don't like reading much either, but I keep trying. popciclecold

I love books and have lots at home, mainly fiction and I'm usually reading several at once! I have a long train journey to work so read a lot then, at the moment my "train" book is The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood which i am really enjoying. At home, the book by my bed is currently Twilight by Stephenie Meyer which is a lot better than I expected, so i imagine I will end up reading the other titles in the series. If I really love a book I will keep it, but I like to use swapping websites to get new books for the price of a few stamps :)

Like many of you there, I have 2 bookshelves filled with books. My husband is even worse, he still has his chemistry and biology books from high school days. We both love to read and our collection is mostly made up of fiction, non-fiction, coffeetable books, textbooks and travel books. We are now thinking of building a shelf which will start from the ceiling and go all the way down, to have more space for our beloved books. So far we have not given away anything and it would probably stay this way. I have tried my very best to encourage my kids to read books but only 1 is responding. I say no to toys but I say yes to books all the time whenever we are in the malls.

We have plenty of books at home. In fact, we donated some of our old books to our local library. We always get books as our presents on our birthdays before from our aunts. I have an aunt who encourages me to read a lot. I can say that it is very helpful because I really learned a lot from reading. I love my books.
