Where do you see God?

We all have such different concepts of God and I was thinking that it might be a good idea if we were to give our ideas, without judgement in any way. Do you think we can do that? I will start by saying that I don't think of God as an individual or personality. I see God as love, as law, as patience, as kindness and gentleness. I see him in a baby's smile, in the song of a bird, the rippling of a brook, in the wind and the wave of the ocean. I could go on and on but I think you get my meaning. How do you think of God?

God is very intelligent, lots of wisdom. He is beyond the ego problems of man. That leaves you with love, kindness, gentleness and very intelligent. Knowledge and wisdom will bring us there as well. Isn't it the smart thing to do???? Unconditional love is the only answer. How many of the world's problems would simply disappear?

well, i see God in the nature that He has created and in people that I know. I see God working all over the world. I work for a mission organization that makes radios that are tuned to the local christian radio station and these radios are sent all around the world.

I see God as a human creation. For most, as a way to answer the questions they have but can not find their own answers for, as a way to go on with their life without questioning, like the sheep concept depicted in so many Christian religious pieces. On the other side, I see God as an evil plague upon mankind. Some people use the concept of God to trick others, to give them money for nothing, or to get massive tax benefits to help them pay for whatever they want. For others, for people who have done wrong, see God as making up for their vile deeds. A murderer can turn to God, and according to pieces from the bible, they will be accepted and lead into heaven, even after being covered in someone else's blood. I see God as a reason that presidents and world leaders can send their citizens into war, to shed their own blood for the purpose of wealth for the nation, and not wealth that goes to the people, as much as to the leaders. I see God as a reason to hate one another without substantial reasoning. If one person has a Christian God, while another a Islamic God, while another many Hindu Gods, they will be less willing to relate to one another.
I accept people for people, and I feel that the greatest "God", the one that did create everything around us, is the workings of Man, of all sorts, from all around the world. I see an equality between everyone, but it is not possible to have full equality between people, while holding a concept to themselves like, "Thou shalt not have any gods before me".

Hi Christoph56, Thank you for your comment and there are many who think as you do. I don't disagree with much that you have written here and I am not religious in the sense that most look at it. I do however, believe that we are spiritual beings having a human experience and that there is more to life then what we experience here. Blessings.

Look, I am a Pagan, and I don't "use God" for personal gain. I realize there are many who misuse their belief in the divine to profit, and believe me, those people will pay the piper.

I don't believe in the God you are talking about, but I see my gods everywhere, I see the power of the one universal energy, whatever it may be, in everything. Everyone, nature, the air, again, like you said, I could go on and on. That is just why I don't understand why people think they HAVE to go to church to worship/celebrate their god since he/she/them are all around, all the time. This earth is his/her/their house and to celebrate we should respect it, and respect all creatures in it, and respect and love everyone and everything on this planet. It is ridiculously hard to sometimes, but even if you can forgive one person for something, and truly not feel hate for them and see them as another human on this earth, then I think you've made a step in the right direction. Nice post!

I would just like to say that it isn't that every Christian feels you have to go to church to worship or see God's work. Church is a way to help understand better what God has to say. It is a way to communicate with other like minds as well. Church isn't just about being there to prove that you love God. In fact, it isn't that at all. It is about sharing fellowship with others and to find a greater understanding and strength in our faith. It is also to praise God in a special way.

I see God in the quiet stillness of nature, in the support of good friends ( letting us know we are not alone)I see God in the innocence of children and the pureity of their hearts and their unwavering knowing that God is there without being taught. God is everywhere if you open your heart and mind to him and to Jesus Christ

never doubt your self the creator loves all its children and truly wants us all to come to that understanding all is worthy to see the creator in its purest form and that is why we were sent to the lower worlds to learn what the creator is so when its time for us to go back to the highest will we be ready to see the creator in the purest form,

I certainly believe God as a whole is unfathomable to the human mind. I guess that's why I as a Pagan believe God consists of many attributes, names, and persons. The sum of a whole, which I can never entirely fathom. Thinking about God in it's pure cosmic form is hard to fathom. Worshiping God through it's many names makes it easier to identify with the divine.

I have seen God in many places and in many faces at different times. I hope one day to see him when I look in the mirror and than I can truthfully say "I and my father are one" and I have become the son of God we were all meant to be.

Nope its a choice, we can easily be children of the devil. Its all about actions and how we treat and view others.

I don't think it's true that some of us are the children of some "devil", some of us just choose wrong paths in our life, and make wrong choices. Some people tell us it's too late to change our actions because we've committed so many sins, but this is not true. Every day is a new beginning. Every time the sun rises we have a new day and a new chance to change. We cannot undo the past, but we can try to do good from this day, this moment, onward.

To me evil is actually necessary sometimes, because if we didn't have evil, how could we know what good is? Without dark, how could there be a light? Without dusk, how can there be a dawn? Without negative, how can we make a positive?

if you want to see god, then look into yourself. your self. that is the only place you can see it. if you stand in front of the mirror all that one sees is one's body and not the self. to see the self, it is a dangerous inner journey. you have to drop your beliefs, god and holy texts. else the journey cannot begin. now is the time for it. go for it.

Reading the Gnostic Gospels and Buddhist sutras might better help one understand how God is within each one of us. I recommend the Gospel of Thomas especially.
"If your leaders say to you, look the kingdom is in the sky, the birds of the sky will proceed you. If it be in the sea, then the fish proceed you. Rather the kingdom is inside of you and outside of you. When you come to know yourself, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are the children of the living Father. If you will not be known, you dwell in poverty, and you are that poverty."- Jesus, Gospel of Thomas

Does not need any explaination, but does need one thing..... an open mind that is not poluted by the worldly design of man in his quest to be God himself as non believers do. They can deny the creator his glory, but it is the believers who will reap the rewards of faithfulness. God can only be seen and felt by those who have eyes, and ears to know him. He is everywhere because he is everywhere, in everything, ever created. So do not argue with a non believer, because they will only polute your world and mind to the truth. And the truth will set you free.
He is the Alpha and the Omega, Amen

Listen Gary if you want to be a pagan, then by all means go ahead. But don't tell me that I keep God in a box, I am pulling God from the box people like you are trying to keep him in so you wont have to be part of the rules that were put before you to be part of any God. There can only be one creator, and I happen to take the side of God the creator, and you want to do your own thing, so go do your own thing and we'll get along fine out side your box.

Define "non-believer". Someone who doesn't suscribe to your box you put God in?

We don't have to go to a church, mosque or temple to worship God. Instead help the needy and the poor to worship Him. It is the best way and we can see him right in our hearts...

I agree. That is the highest form of service to the divine, to help our fellow man. We have a duty to each other as fellow living beings.

u r so right i only saw the topic and thought to me self i am gonna give u 2 definition of which i know for a fact how we all can see god,i was gonna give my first knowledge of it in the way u did but seeing that u have already done i am gonna go even deeper then,so brace yourselves for something never heard of,first before i get too deep there are 2 forces that controls the unversal movements they are known as positive and negative, these forces also lives within us,to the one that dwells in the negative energy if you would take the time out to sit and talk with someone of this energy pattern they could pin point each and every detail in what they r doing is right to them, and they cannot see how it is wrong when it feels right to them, for example the wind is blowing cool and nice and it just makes you feel to relax and enjoy its coolness thats a positive relaxation, while on the other end for some one the wind blows and they use the movement of the wind to do something negative like break in to someones place, cause the wind was making so much distubance the person or neighbour couldn't hear when someone got in the house and took what they wanted, and that person would thank god cause he or she saw god moving to help them accomplish a task, while u on the other hand would thank god for the relaxation of this wind,so u see the negative person also sees' god in their own positive way, there is so much i can say about that but i have deeper stuff coming so to summarise the first one then god is every where and is every thing in this universe we can think of we can breath without it we cannot think without it,we cannot move without it.know the deepest part to now brace yourselves,is this, there is a soul living within this body that travels out of the body every time,we either die, sleep,or return to the earth,to live another life, yes reincarnation,it happens everday, but seeing that topic is for another discussion lets stick with now, when you lay to sleep, soul was created by the force called god in the higher worlds, known as the anami lok, this is a spiritual universe that has a ocean where gazillons of souls dwell preparing to come into the lower worlds for their lessons on god,yes we are in school, every universe as a ruler placed by god that controls that universe,we are now in the lowest universe, and the ruler for this universe name is ELAM and he lives on venus yes you saw right venus, how do i know all of this?just keep reading now the soul travels out of the body whenever the body is in total relaxation called sleep, there are 2 aspects of travel.there is dream travel, and soul travel, all of us dream travel whom are not apart of the teachings of soul travel from the religion that teaches the method of soul travel, known as ECKANKAR,i am a member of this teaching and this is where the knowledge flows from, now dream travel is an unaware state that you are out of the body and moving do you every realize that whenever you are asleep u still see things happening yes,it is because you are spiritually moving but you are not aware and that it is why it is considered a dream, when you become aware of the out of body movement that when it is called soul travel and only in eckankar you learn this method and it is a consiuos method that lets you travel fully to the higher worlds, where you can visit where you came from until its time to go back there, did you know that jesus could soul travel and this was why he said that in my fathers house there are many mansions how could he know this if he could not come out of the body to visit our fathers many universes it has created, and thats the only way you can see god in the spirit in the highest form this thing is neither male nor female it is a powerfull being filled with a blinding light energy only the cleanest of souls can approach this thing, and thats the only way u can truly see the creator by the means of soul travel, but seeing god as how u all see it is a start, may the blessings be

Hi kashers, Thank you for that interesting comment. I have read so many different concepts however that I rarely get shocked anymore. I too believe in reincarnation and have discussed and commented on it here. I am also very interested in dreams and feel that we can learn much by teaching ourselves to remember our dreams. I feel too that the soul travels during our dreams, and although I've never had an out of the body experience, I have heard much about it and believe that it happens to some people. The other things that you mention are somewhat new to me but I have felt for some time now that Jesus was a highly evolved being. Blessings.

So, you believe it was all for nothing? How sad!
Someday you will come to feel God in your life, and you will believe differently. I pray you will someday.

I pretty much see God in life itself like you said. I see the divine in all things, both good and bad, because sometimes bad works out to the end of good.
