One of the things that I like to do with my kids is to take them to the pet store to see all of the different kinds of dogs and cats they have for sale. When it comes to puppies and dogs, many people only have a few types that they will even consider buying. I think they are all cute and wish I could give them all a good home. What are you favorite kinds of puppies you would want to buy?

I like Jack Russell puppies they are so cute, I've had two Jack Russell's and I've raised them from pups, they are very active dogs so you have to have a place for them to run around, and they are easily trained, they listen real well, almost better than kids do..lol.

I don't think they are too hyper for kids, they play well with kids. They do have energy and need to get exercise and kids are the perfect ones to do it with them..ha.

They are cute dogs. I heard that they can be too hyper for kids though. Is that true?

I can put the dogs out back, but I sure don't want to walk a dog if I didn't have a yard

Cats are cute too. Just don't know if I want to deal with a smelly litter box again.

I would get a bird if I was to get a pet, or maybe a cat. There are no dog parks where I live and I am frequently too ill to give a puppy or dog the attention it needs. My Landlord doesn't allow pets of any sort in the apartment either.

You didn't mention chihuahuas, they're little. I don't like them though, too yappy.

My favorite puppy is the one I have in my arms when you ask the question. There are some dogs I wouldn't buy just because I have some physical limitations now. But I can love any dog who needs me.

I like many breeds of dogs.. But sometimes I think the best kind are the mutts. They are healthier and I have had many. My first to dogs came from the shelter - I would go there before ever going to a pet store- Those dogs need homes and chances are you can even find purebred dogs that people have "thrown away" (they probably bought them at the pet store for a holiday and then got bored with them.) Some of my favorite breeds or breed mixes are Collie, German Shepherd, Great Dane, Malamute, I really like Golden Doodles :) and For little dogs.. Papillons and Corgis.

I have a soft spot for dalmatian puppies. I think they are just the cutest thing in the world, and they originated in Dalmatia (Croatia), and while I do not have Croatian background, I am very interested in Croatian culture, and music, so Dalmatian puppies are extra special.

I can't bring myself to spend a lot of money on buying a pet. We had some dogs when I was little that chewed up everything they could find too.

No I never go to pet stores. I hate to look at these puppies and know just how terribly cruel the puppy mills are breeding these babies. I will not patronize any commercial pet shop. I prefer to look at pets for adoption and then I am miserable because I want to take them all home with me.

Please, please, please don't take your children to a pet store to see puppies. These animals come from puppy mills where there mothers lives a life of hell. Take them to a shelter. They will see the same dogs that the see in a pet store and maybe, just maybe they will see a dog they will want to bring home. There are all breeds and mutts and they can be gotten for a lot less money then a pet store. Again, please don't encourage puppy mills. The dogs you get in a pet store are usually sick and will wind up costing you lots and lots of money at the Vets. If you think I am making this up call the ASPCA or any Vets office.

Good information you have there. I only take the kids to the pet store to look at the animals. I would never buy one from there. They are way too expensive plus I have always gotten pets in the past from people that we know or the Humane Society.

If I would go to a pet store, I would get myself a golden retriever puppy or a german shepherd. Those puppies are really cute. When they grow up, those kind of dogs are really big but they are the good one type of dogs plus they could really protect you too.

I'm not a dog person but I do enjoy the energy that puppies have. I used to take my kids to this one pet shop and the puppies were so excited to see them and when they bent down to pick one up they would act all scared. Unfortunately the store went out of business and my kids were reserved to chasing ducks and iguanas.
