Yes2x..it definitely counts as a meal. I love delicious salad like top it with strips of chicken meat without the skin, a boiled egg also being cut to pieces and spread on the salad and also some tomatoes and cucumber. Delicious..

yup, salads can count as meals provided they have carbs and protein in it. of course the vegetables are the carbs. even nuts would do for the lean proteins. but be sure to serve your kids a chunk of it not like the amount they put as a side dish so that that salad can be considered a meal by their tummies .

Hi, tarcher219. Yes, it does count as a meal. If you add many foods to it it will make it appear fulfilling. I have had a salad for dinner many of times and when I ate the salad it made me feel full like I ate a big dinner. I made a salad on Sunday and I baked some steak to go along with it. It was very delicious. So, yes in my opinion an salad is counted as a meal.

yup salad could be meal, a healthy meal if you add your salad with fruits and vegetables, they can also be loaded eith vitamins and antioxidants, the key of keeping our salad interesting for your kids is to change the ingredients each time you make one, don't just think of the simple garden salad, but imagine adding fruits, nuts, and lean meat to your salad to make a great low-calorie and highly nutritious meal for your kids..

Yes, salad can count as a meal, I have it at lunch and dinner a lot, sometimes both. It's very good for you if prepared right, some people put too many "toppings" so to speak in their salad and it takes away the nutritional value. I personally love fresh Spinach with Tomatoes, Olives and Peppers, I could it as a salad because it's all things that are very good for you but I do eat salad mix as well.
Some kids just don't gain weight no matter how much they eat, I use to be like that when I was younger...I was quite skinny and and now that I'm not a little kid anymore or a young teenager I've gotten lazy and I always say I'm going to watch what I eat and exercise but than I don't, I need self discipline but it does help that I love fruits and veggies and salad lol, so yes it is a meal, a great one, one of the best things you could be giving your kids to eat if you ask me.

I believe eating a salad can count as a meal, however it shouldn't just be lettuce, cheese, and crutons! Especially for children, they need protein, fiber, and essential nutrients in their diet, which you won't get from eating a plain salad. Try adding things like chicken, which will help not only to give them energy but to make their bodies healthier. Children [actually people in general] who are super skinny are more likely to fall seriously ill with something as simple as a cold, because they don't have enough weight to fight it. [Seen it happen.]
If they really like salad, also try a taco salad. You can look up some other healthy salad recipes on the internet.
But yes, salad can count as a meal.

Salad absolutely counts as a meal, a nutritious meal at that! It includes two of the most important food groups, vegetables and fruits. Tomatoes are actually a fruit. But, even more, salads can be made very substantial by the addition of protein, as in meat, poultry, fish, beans and cheese. Most of us don't eat near the amounts of fruits and vegetables we should, so the servings in salad are very necessary to good health. Then, of course, there are fruit salads, potato and pasta salads, rice salads, other grain salads. All can be added to or served alongside green salads. Salads are a healthy and filling meal.

Salad tastes delicious, but in my opinion,we can't make salad as a meal.Because if children only have salad, they will not healthy enough.Only having salad is not benefit for them due to have less nutrition.

Salad can be a meal if you make it less plain. Plain lettuce, tomato, cucumber type salad makes a good lunch but otherwise I think it needs some help to qualify as dinner. It may even work as breakfast albeit non-traditionally.
