Whenever a religion is a subjet for discussion, there is always a debate, isn't it? Like marrying a person with different religion? Or disregarding your beliefs to follow your heart? As for me, I will follow my faith or religious beliefs and not my heart. Corny but it is true.

Greetings olepmis .
You asked: Whenever a religion is a subjet for discussion, there is always a debate, isn't it?
Well I have been on numerous forums and I have seen times where there is no debate. There's probably just as much debate in some other areas if not more.
Regarding religious beliefs or one's heart, either one can be deceptive and destructive. I gave up religion almost 40 years ago and got a direct connection with God through Christ. Millions of others have done so and what we find is that His direct will supercedes the religious edicts of men. For me, I just follow God as directed by the Holy Bible through His precious Holy Spirit.

I am not particularly religious person although I do believe in God or a Higher Power. In my opinion religious rituals are personal and it is up to the individual as to what they get out of putting them into practice. For some the structure is very important for others not so much. What matters to me the most is how I conduct myself on a day to day basis. As I mentioned it is a personal thing and it is vital to respect others’ ways. The problem is that too often there is no respect in regards to different spiritual beliefs and this has gone as far as causing very serious problems between countries and it’s a shame because if one takes a good look at all the religions out there, there are common threads amongst the majority and that is love, tolerance and acceptance and that is all we should really need regardless the denomination we adhere to. What is in your heart is what counts...

Religion, does it bring peace or war?
Answer: Dependant on Man - human nature causes a deviation from the peaceful teachings of a religion.
Relgion is a vehicle for us humans, we are the drivers of that vehicle, and those vehicles are, if not lost, are on a journey to God's pleasure. God Himself has manifested the route to travel on, only if we open our eyes to the scriptures, the ways of the lives of the founders of religions, and above all the ability to worship with much of our time devoted to God. God does not need a vehicle, nor does He need us. It is out His Mercy that over time He has sent down Messengers with codes of conduct for Man and guidance how to attain God's pleasure.
Man however, armed with twisted intelligence, cannot fathom the gravity of the blessings bestowed upon him, and therefore is ungrateful and petty towards its Creator and other fellow humans.
As one of your Christian posters has said, God is what is to be worshiped directly and not the religion. The religion is a vehicle and coded road map. Many a people have become close to God without the superficiality of a religion. However, religion is a Divine code of conduct, and it is for the benefit for mankind in its PURE sense - its corrupt practices cannot be from God.

To me, religion always brings war in different forms. Some are verbal arguments and some are actual killings. People most of the time tend to argue or fight with people from other religions to try and prove which is better by preaching their beliefs. God gave us all free will and a mind of our own. If we look within ourselves we will find that our mind and spirit is more powerful than we think. Religion is a tradition. We don't need it to become spiritual or to be a good person.

I agree with you that religion is a tradition and God has given as the free will to choose or decide for ourselves. In our spiritual lives we should always read the Holy Bible for our spiritual guidance to become a good person and be obedient in following God's commands. God prefers obedience more than sacrifices. Thank you for sharing. God bless.

I don't believe it is religion or non-religion belief that brings war, though both of these have brought war, but it is humans (of all types) who bring wars.. And if they don't fight over one thing it will always be another. I also think most wars over religion are actually wars using religion for politics and hasn't much to really do with faith at all, but power/politics.

As far as I'm concerned, religion doesnt bring peace or war in the world..its the PEOPLE who do...being rigid, arrogant, narrowminded and so on becuas htey misunderstand their religion and are convinced that EVEYRONE should believe as they do is what brings wars...Just like being bendable, humble and openminded because they understand their religion and accept that others live life differently brings peace

may be thats your point of view, i believe in god and am a spiritual person. i would want to seek god in a more human way rather than sticking to set rituals .if i am in love with a person of other religion , i wouldn't try to change his faith neither would i change mine. i would try to accept him for the person he is and expect the same in return. however impractical it may sound.

The religions which tell that you must not follow the other religions are the main cause of Wars.
The concepts like Pagans, kafirs, blasphemy, apostasy, religious conversion, holy war etc. etc. are the main cause of mis-understandings and trouble which finally leads to WARs...
The religion and scriptures which advises to kill a person if he joins the other religion must be shun..

i know a religion that is originates from the word "peace", but that same religion encourages "war" if there is a treat to their religion. whew! i personally believe that if our religions think that way, there will be no peace on earth.

I follow neither my beliefs nor my heart.I follow God and what is even if i don't quite agree or understand it. I never leave it at that. Everything can be understood in time. God will ALWAYS ADD UP! If it doesn't,it's man or you just do not understand God. Now, if I didn't know God, I would follow my heart rather than beliefs. You will find you will have fewer errors that way.
