There are people who talk without shy to anybody, no matter who the other person is. At least till they reach an age, they feel shy to talk or smile at them. Have you felt the same?Where you shy or bold?Children of both the sexes feel shy to talk to or close their eyes, as the one in the below picture. Have you seen children like that or you yourself in such a position?

Does fifth grade mean 10 or 12 years of age?I think it is too early for you. Some people give up shyness only during the late teens.

I was painfully shy as a child, I couldn't look anyone in the eye and literally could not make myself speak sometimes. Unfortunately I acted and sang from childhood too, and people thought I was just stuck up (I went to a private convent school which didn't help!) because they didn't understand how I could get up on stage and do anything yet couldn't speak to them as myself. I know know this is quite common among actors, a pretty insecure bunch!...

It is really great to know that great actors are shy during their younger days.

Luckily for me, I was a very outgoing person when I was younger and had no problems in engaging with other people. Although many people over-come their shyness, there are still some that I know who are still slightly apprehensive at approaching others and would rather be alone.

Yes, when I was younger then. I am shy to talk to people. I find ways to avoid talking to them. It is not that I am not confident. I just do not want them to focus their attention in me while talking. But now, I was able to overcome my shyness. I am the opposite now. Funny but true. this is what experiences had brought me. Speak out!!

Age and years change things a lot in life. It is quite natural to change. Have a nice day.

i use to be shy as i was growing up, i think its normal for everyone because there is a stage where now we feel different and have to know some people before we can chat but now im so confident that people dont even believe that i use to be shy this shyness stage i think its in almost all the children

I am certainly not shy now. If anything I'm too outgoing and bold. I used to be really shy though, and it got better as I got older. I actually used to be afraid to do simple things like go in department stores by myself when I was 8ish. lol

I was a very shy child when I was young, but now I am a very bold lady can talk to any stranger without any shyness and can tackle any situation talking. Yes I have seen many children who feel very shy to talk even with their own classmates or cousings.

Actually, this was the opposite for me. When I was very young I was not shy in terms of talking to people and in terms of doing some silly things. I could start a conversation with a stranger back then. Now, I am more aware of myself so I do not talk to people unless they are very familiar to me.

When I was young, I was extremely shy. i would hide in my room when company came over. I did not overcome shyness until later years of high school. English speech class helped in that respect.

When I was a kid, I was really really shy with adults, but not so much with my classmates. I played with them and talked with them fine, but I wasn't necessarily a chatterbox, lol. As I got a little older I started to get shyer with everyone, especially since I changed schools and my parents got divorced when I was about 10. :o

i was a crazy little kid when i was young! i can talk to anything so randomly! but as i grew older...i became more afraid to talk to people! i'm not sure why...so probably it is a pattern there...when a kid who is shy at young age will be more open in the older age. whereas kid who is crazy like me and more open at a younger age will be more shy in the older age...just my assumption!
