Do you like to have a hot water bottle or an electric blanket?

I love to have a hot water bottle in this cold weather. I find it so cosy. Apart from the fact that electric blankets use power, I think that if I had one, I'd find it very hard to get up in the morning! Maybe people have their heating up high so they don't need a hot water bottle or an electric blanket, but I prefer my hot water bottle. How about you?

Well i prefer the hot water bottle itself rather than an electric blanket. I always carry with me on the chill winter as that it is better for me to beat the coldness.

In this weather, my hot water bottle is a must lol! In fact I have two now : )Never used an electric blanket. Never really thought about it though. The heating in our house aint so good so it can be very cold at night so hot water bottles are very useful.

I used to have two - one to hold onto and one for my feet, but lately I've been wearing bedsocks!

I use neither. I instead just pile on the blankets if it's cold :) Some soft fleece or microfleece blankets can really keep me warm. I won't use an electric blanket b/c I've heard bad things about water spilling on them, or fires, and such. I know those are rare but it still would worry me.
I haven't used a hot water bottle in forever and even then only used it because I had an ache somewhere. I never thought about using one just to keep warm. That's an interesting idea.

It really is worth it to feel so snug. I put my nightshirt inside the cover to warm it up as well, so it's lovely and warm to put on.

I have a gel filled heating bag that you heat up in the microwave and then pop into a flannel cover. I LOVE it! It stays warm for a long time and it's squishy so it really hugs your body. When it's really cold out I like to heat it up a little before bed and put it under the covers for a while so it's nice and toasty when I get in.

I've always wanted to try one of those, but haven't seen any in the shops lately. I will keep looking now that you have reccomended them.

I agree with you on using a hot water bottle rather than an electric blanket.
I will even boil some of the water that I will use in the hot water bottle. I thiknk it is a healther way of staying warm other than snuggling with the one you love. :-)

I re-use the same water for the bottle every night, just having to add a little bit of cold if I let the kettle get too hot - so that way I'm saving water as well.

George and I put three blankets on the bed and I run the heat at about 75. During the day I turn off the heat completely because when you're up and moving around, it's not needed nearly as much. I once had an eletric blanket, but it never worked. Good thing I supose considering I wouldn't be able to afford the power to run it.

Blankets are good for keeping the heat in, but a hot water bottle (or several!) are good for warming the bed before you get in.

My hot water bottle has a cover, so it holds the heat well, plus I hug it all night so it is still warm in the morning. Wearing a hoodie is a novel idea. Many years ago I used to live in an old house with no heating and wore a wooly hat in bed!
