i've been told that coffee has anti-oxidants.. i'm sure it's true, but why does it have to taste so bitter? i'm the only in my family who doesnt drink coffee, because i prefer chocolate milk. like seriosly, my sister can consume around 6 cups of coffee in a day, my dad around 3... my mom, well, she drinks with my dad... i believe the coffee industry will be rich because of my family...
are you also a coffee addict?

I can not believe that anyone can stand the taste of this stuff! Everyone in my family drinks with the exception of me, they consume so much coffee that I dont even see how they can sleep at night.
I have tried coffee with cream, cream and sugar, just sugar and black and I have to say, there is no way you can disguise the taste of COFFEE!
I love the smell but to get past the taste is just not going to happen, I have even tried the flavored coffee's and still a no go here!
I will stick with my pepsi!!!

i seriously agree with you on that one.. i love the smell, but the taste?? garsH! i really cannot stand it.. even the coffee flavored ice cream tastes bad. i actually drink mountain dew to keep me up when i study.. i've read that they have a higher caffeine level than pepsi....

before, i used to drink about 4 cups of coffee a day, but now i consume only 1 cup a day. coffee could make you acidic when taken in excess.
its bitter taste might came from the process called roasting or toasting. try to look a rice or bread or peanut when roasted with a coffee-like appearance, it also taste bitter.

yeah,,, maybe it wouldn't have the "awakening effect" if it was roasted around 5-10 minutes shy of the real time... eheheh.. but it's a cool thought though... a mild version

garsh, if they probably roasted the coffee beans and took them off the furnace a bit early i guess it wouldnt have that bitter taste to it.. yes, i heard of the acidity part.. my dad went through this endocrine test once, and it revealed that his sweat was highly acidic... the doctor later traced it from his caffeine intake.. thanks asdomencil

but removing the coffee a bit earlier than the prescribed time might caused or affect different taste to the coffee.

I have coffee twice a day, one cup early in the morning, and one in the evening. I cannot survive without these two cups of coffee in the day, and if I do not drink these two cups, I feel very tired, and not able to do my work properly.
Coming to your point, I do not take black coffee, and I always add milk and sugar, and take the sweet, and golden brown colored coffee.I am a self confessed coffee addict. I also love chocolate milk, but do not take it because of the high cholesterol in it.

Since I have been taking coffee, from a very early age, I am able to sleep properly without any effects.

hahaha.. that's soo cool. i had a friend who once drank coffee at a round 8 pm and ended up just staring at the ceiling until 5 in the morning.. it's good that you already developed an immunity to it's effects depending on the time of day....

you take a cup in the evening? and can you still sleep? i mean, is the effect of caffeine like the other way around for you? because i've heard from my friends that they fall asleep after they've had a cup or two...
and for the chocolate milk... ahaha, i hear you. the calories and stuff are actually very alarming, but i actually survived through college without coffee and feeding on chocolate when i study.. i substitute the sugar rush for the caffeine-awakening effects....
thanks rameshkumaar57....

you can psychologically cheat them with coffee. i learned this from one of my officemates. she uses muscovado sugar (brown sugar) and mix it with a creamer. upon adding hot water, it will have a slightly brown colored drink just like a coffee with creamer. it also tastes like coffee. but dont tell them it has n coffee on it.

Tell me about it. I am trying to get rid of it, and do my best not to drink it that much, or I want to cut it down. My mom strongly recommend me to drink green tea in the morning rather than coffee. Because it might have negative affect on me. I believe her so, and I will try my best not to drink that much.

well, it's good that you're listening to your mom... hmmmm... green tea is not at all pleasing to the taste buds, but i guess its an "ok" alternative to coffee.. or why not try hot cocoa? ehehehe, i love it.. even though i'm a professional, i get hot chocolate from a cafe in the morning and the attendant's facial expression is so fun to watch.. ahahaha.. it's quite unusual.. i just probably dont like weird tasting drinks.....

I'm never a coffee addict but my mom is. She obviously cannot go on a day without it. I usually drink one cup in the morning. Then sometimes when I feel like drinking again, I drink in the afternoon too. When it's a very hot day, I drink some iced coffee.

Not everybody love the bitterness pleasure of coffee like yourself. I love coffee, I am addicted to it. I need to drink coffee everyday, in the morning and in the evening.
Drinking coffee makes me relax.
Sometimes when I forgot to drink coffee I can get a headache, like I feel my brain tightening and harden.....As soon as I drink a coffee it goes away, that is why I said I am addicted to it.

whoa! it really sounds like you are addicted to it? you really get the head tightening reactions when you cant drink? you sound like my sister... she gets headaches and she becomes all grumpy. we attended a workshop one time and that was her all time record, we had free flowing brewed coffee and she drank a total of 8 glasses in 12 hours.. i could imagine the hyper-acidity. hahaha... thanks for you thoughts shikaymaru! happy mylotting!

I love coffee so I usually used to read about to cups a day.I am not addicted to it but I just love its smell early in the morning-it helps me wake up.Nowadays I am afraid I drink a bit more coffees a day as I go to the university and lecturers are either absent or let us go earlier so I have a lot of free time between different lectures. This is the thing which makes me drink more coffees because I hate dizzy drinks and often I hate sweet things in the mornig so I cannot stand juices and staff like that and I buy the next coffee...

I drink coffee as often as I can since its basically my fuel throughout the day. At first, it started out as a morning thing but as years go by, it has become a habit. I now have some trouble sleeping at night and try not to consume coffee after 2pm in the evening. If by any chance I don't get my daily dose of coffee, I would get really groggy in the morning, headaches throughout the day and generally a bad day
