I found out a some years back that just leaving electronics plugged in waste power even if you don't have them turned on. Once I found out that was true I at least unplug some electronics every night before going to sleep. I don't unplug everything because it would take up to much time out of the day to plug things back in later on. Do you unplug electronics when not in use?

yeah, that is my practice in my home, all appliances are unplug before sleeping at night except for he refrigerator. I need it to remain plugged or else all the food would be spoiled. The only lightning that remain is a lampshade and each room have dim light which is a cost saving way to reduce electricity bills.

hey, Yeah its very true unplugging all eectronics when not in use is a greatest way possible to save power and money. Plus its much safer! I started this discopline of unplugging some appliances and electronics last year and believed me it saved me a lot from my electric bills.

I make it a habit to unplug appliances before going to sleep.I even make sure that before I leave the house I don't have any appliances left plugged.I make sure nothing will be left plugged.I don't want to start a fire from an overheated appliance.it is better to plug them one by one again than leave them plugged in a long time.

yeah same here, i can't have anything on that gives off light in my room at night which is good healthwise that i've learned to do this. i tried sleeping with the tv on and i just can't do it anymore. the lack of light while sleeping causes that natural melatonin to kick in and help me or anyone else with a human body to relax more, lol. it also feels good to knowing that money isn't going through the electrical cords by conserving energy. i assume you meant having electronics turned off and not unplugged but still electricity is wasted even when having things plugged in even when the power is off.

i would like to unplug everything before sleep but sometimes i'm just too tired while its also a hassle to get to areas to try to plug them back in the next day. i have a habit of at least unplugging some areas of my house at after using the power. its a good way to get some exercise after unplugging everything at the moment and then going to sleep. then you can get up and plug them back in. when thinking about it then it has to be a win-win situation. you exercise by unplugging and then plugging electronics back in the next day and you also save money in the long run. talk about motivating.

Not really. When I'm going into extreme frugality I do, other than that, not so much.
It is just hard to remember.

We used to unplug things, but don't anymore. We got pretty bad about doing it as is. The only thing we plug and unplug is the toaster as it's not often used that much I do believe. In any case, we do try (and emphasis on the word try) to remember to turn lights off.

No, because most of them are plugged in behind something or where I like to leave them. I'm not sucking the juice of the world by leaving them plugged in, do you unplug your brain at night? I hope not.

I really can't unplug anything be course everything has a clock or a timer and I would have to reset everything all the time. I just unplug my toaster and make sure all the lights and Tv's are off.

i just turned them off but i just feel too lazy to plug and unplug them everyday. besides even if im doing that, my electric bill will still not change coz im sharing with my meter here, they will not know im saving specially if they know that ive been paying the same electric bills for many months.

Actually, i do unplug some electronics before going to bed. such devices include, battery chargers, cell phones, laptops, pda's. mainly all those which run on batteries because as far as i have experience, i burnt out my laptop motherboard and phones battery because i used to leave them pluged in to an AC power source all the night.
apart from that, with devices such as mentioned above, once the charge is 100%, its only waste of power after that..minimal but there is waste afterall

I don't but probably should. Our plugs are few and far between, and I just don't think about it.

I don't unplug everything. I just make sure everything is off. I turn down the heat though cause if we're not moving around there is no need to leave the heat up where it will keep the house extremely hot all night.
However if I am leaving town for a few days I will unplug just about everything in the house. I'll leave on Friday and return Sunday evening so that's two full days of us not being here and using any power. We haven't see a big decrease in our electric bills with that method though so I'm not sure how well that idea really works.

I like to unplug things that have clocks on them that suck up lots of power while not in use. The one that drive me nuts are the coffee pot especially when & since it's not set up on auto. Then ya got the toaster oven I usually unplug that as I'm afraid the kids will futz with it and get hurt.

I have to admit that I usually don't unplug anything, I know it saves energy, I just don't think about it most of the time. Like you said, it does take up too much time to plug things back in later.

Hey elmiko! I do unplug some of my electronics that I am not
using! I turn of my computer when I am not using it! I don't
turn off everything because it would take too much time to plug
everything back in! I just unplug the things that I feel would
take up unnecessary electricity. There is only so much we can
do to conserve power!
