Do you receive phone calls on your birthday?

My birthday was January 24th. I won't tell ya my age because it makes me cringe But I got one phone call the whole day. It was my grandmother and it was around 8 pm that night, after my sister read my status on Myspace which went something like this....ISN'T IT NICE HOW NO ONE CALLED ME ON MY BIRTHDAY!!!. None of my friends called, nor my sisters or my real mom. It kinda of made me sad but I guess it is better than getting those "you ruined my life" birthday calls. So do you typically receive phone calls on your birthday? I did get tons of comments on yuwie, facebook and myspace.

well, babyangie, the way we communicate has dramatically changed... maybe, that's the reason many of your friends, relatives, and family preferred to use the other means of greeting you on your special day... the age of facebook and chatting is here, and they are overpowering... happy birthday...

That's the thing, they didn't even use other means to wish me happy birthday. but my family's issues goes beyond that now that I look at it. I agree with you and many others as the internet and sms are more popular.

perhaps, as others say, they have reasons for not doing so... maybe, a surprise is in the offing... but sometimes, you know, people have different ways of expressing remembrances and other things to their loved ones, even friends... don't take it on them, they sure wish you well and more on your birthday... it's nice, you've moved along...

Unfortunately these days, most people rely on the internet to get their greetings out. I'd rather have a phone call too. It's much more personal. Happy Belated Birthday!

Happy Birthday! Mine was on January 27th. Let's see, my mom and sister called together, and that was it. However I got a million "Happy Birthday" postings on Facebook since Facebook tells everyone it's my birthday, and one email birthday card. It seems like in the age of the internet, no one calls anymore! A long time ago I used to get cards from everyone, then it was ecards, and now I get a few cards during my planned birthday celebrations, but other than that it's just a Happy Bday message on facebook.

Happy Birthday to you as well! I guess you have a point, with the internet and all not many people use the phone systems as a way to send greetings anymore.

my birthday was on November 6th. Surprisingly, the first person who greeted me was my mother and i was totally happy. Me and my mom was not that close because she's always busy with her work that intended her to forget my birthday. But at that moment when she calls, I feel unexpectedly. that was I feel mother and child conversation in my birthday that I didn't feel before. Every child expected their loveones especially their parents to be remembered in their most special day. A material gift can't replace a parent love through greetings.

Well dear belated happy birthday. It might be quite late but better late than never. I'm happy you did not get zero phone greeting that day. Ohhh it would too lonely for birthday celebrator if no one remembers to greet or call him on his special day. Well I'm happy for you for you have grandmother who remembered you. It was like nobody loves you anymore if no one did! But so nice of your grandmother that she did show her love and affection. Well during my birthdays, I always receive so many greetings by SMS. Oh it would be very plenty that the whole day it was like I could not longer do anything but reply to their messages to give thanks. It is nice to be remembered on my birthday and I think I will be very sad if no remembers to call or greet me on that day.

Even with the one phone call I felt a bit unloved by the rest of my family and friends. I mean my husband told me here but ti was like no one outside my bubble cared enough to call. It is a long story but they don't much care for me anyhow.

Happy belated Birthday! My birthday greetings usually come in the form of a phone call or a text message. I do have a friend that sends me a birthday card every year. I did receive a lot of Birthday greetings on facebook this year.

The social networking site Facebook has become a popular way to communicate to people on their birthdays. Facebook has a list of all your friends' birthdays and displays when they are.

Hi Angie, yes I got a lot of phone calls on my birthday. My birthday isn't to far after yours. Mine is January 29th. I got tons of comments on other sites I am to. My sister called me at midnight just as it turned the 29th. Then my mom call me in the morning and my kids all called me and my mom and middle daughter had a birthday cake, flowers and gifts for me. They surprised me with what they did for me on my birthday.

My mom faithfully calls, but she is pretty much the only one. My husbands aunt used to call and have her dog sing(bark awfully), to me, but the dog has passed away, so now she does not call either.

ONLY MY HUSBAND! probably because he care for me that much :-) more than him? no more. bdays to our family is just like ordinary days. however, a friends reminded me that i should celebrate birthday once i reach milestones in my life, like i reach 40, 50, 60, 70 or even 80. those are the years they say worthy celebrating. i will be 40 this comming feb 19, like ordinary days... i dont like celebrating it. what do you say? God Bless...

I receive a few phone calls, from my grandmother and my two aunts. Others usually send me an SMS or do nothing. I also get a lot of comments on facebook from people I never really talk to. For the last few years I was always in another country for my birthday so I didn't actually get any of the phone calls. Since I live with my mother and father, they say happy birthday to me in person. It would be nice to get more phone calls though, but I don't have that many friends, so I have to accept my fate.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!! I could have made the calls but found it to be not right for me to do it. I thought they should call me,but I can see with your distance how it would sound better if you did.

Thank you and Happy Belated Birthday to you, too! Yes, I live in an area where I had to get the entire area code calling or I wouldn't be able to call anyone I knew. The first month without it was $100. So I switched and it was $40 total for the entire month because no one was long distance for me any more. But people have tried to call me, and it's ridiculous what it does to their phone bill. Most of the time, I leave my answering machine on, they say who they are and hang up if they really, really want something or if it's an emergency.

Hi friend. On 11th February, I'll turn 37 and I never celebrate my birthday. That's why none except my family knows about my birthday. And therefore, none calls me on my birthday.

Happy Belated Birthday! It is a shame you didn't get more calls on your birthday. I usually get a call from my mother and from my friends. I get a lot of cards also. Regular cards and e-cards. I think more people use the internet sites now, and don't use the phone or regular mail as much!

It does seem as we have become more dependent on internet and such to communicate. Which isn't a bad thing as it does expose us to more people. but I do miss the personal side to holidays and special occasions.
