For me I think the Dog is the smartest pet you could ever had not like cats. Cat for that matter are stubborn and hardheaded they sometimes don's understand and when you teach them tricks they have a hard time learning, Dog on the other hand are easily be trained and they understand us human very well but it depends more on the kind of breed the dog is. Like those weenier dogs those kinds of dogs are smart and very emotional and they love attention very much. hehe How bout you what do you think is the smartest the dog or cat?

This was mentioned in church one Sunday. Here is what we were told about dogs and cats. The dog all he wants to do is please his master. Excited to see him, get the paper, ect. So the dog assumes you are God. The cat all he wants is for you to do what he wants you to do. Feed him, clean his poop, pet him when he wants it. So the cat assumes he is God. With this thinking, I beleive the cat is smarter, because we do exactly what the cat wants us to do.

You are totally right sassy. Dogs are real pleasers all the time, sometime when I got home from my work my pet dog pleases me and sometime clime to my back and rub my back for me by jumping on my back it feels so good. hehe Not like cats they are lazy and selfish. hehe

I don't know.....maybe dog, maybe cat. you cannot compare cat and dog because they have a different character, Dog is smart, energetic, aggressive and Cat is fast, lazy, but smart too. So what do you say?

Hmm I choose DOG. Dogs are hard workers and they can be guard dogs, bomb sniffer dogs, cancer sniffer dog, racing dogs, freestyle competition dogs they are all smart and they can learn so many things in life and help us human all the time even help us see when we cant see for our eyes they help us and guide us when we are blind. So I choose dogs over cats

Cats are smarter than dogs. They know how to get what they want without going to the trouble of learning tricks.

Growing up one of our neighbors had a border collie and that dog was incredibly intelligent. You could say it once and she understood what you wanted. We had a cat that was like that. One day I had a printed page attached to one of those holding arms that you can put on your computer. As I was copying the printed page onto the computer, my cat jumped up onto the desk, began scanning the printed page as though he was reading it, moved the arm down so he could see the words the arm was hiding and continued reading until he got to the bottom. When he finished reading, he went on his way. Both of these animals were very intelligent and very demanding. The dog wanted to work continually. Her barks seemed to be saying, "Give me something to do." The cat couldn't abide a mess and would come get one of us when there was a mess as if to say, "Do something about this mess." I don't know which of the two was the smarter. I just know both were amazing animals.

Dogs are obviously more intelligent than cats.Dogs can be trained to act the way you want them to.A cat cannot be trained with it's behavior, their mind isn't like that of a dog.I don't think you can train a cat to do anything, except poop in the litter box.I'm a dog person, but I don't hate cats.I just don't want a cat, because they are independant and don't always want to be pet. When they want you to leave them alone they'll scratch you.A dog ,they love attention all the time.Cats are hard to make friendly too. There's a couple of stray cats I found here in my neighborhood.I want to help them, but of corse I can't catch them. When they see a human they jump into the nearest sewer.I wanted to catch them and help them to get a home, but it don't look like I'll accomplish anything with them.At least if it was a stray dog,I could bribe it with food.

I think cats are smarter by far and I am, by nature, a dog person. Cats do not need humans to be happy. They can take control of their own lives and, if left to their own devices, are much more capable of providing food for themselves. They can squeeze into tighter places in cold weather and get out of the deep freeze. They can quite happily provide their own entertainment, even if it means grabbing a live mouse as the primary player. I have a cat and a dog. My dog looks to me for everything. The cat takes the dog for a walk and brings him back in again! My dog is a Scottish terrier and is quite bright. If I bring a toy into the house for someone other than the dog, all I have to do is say "Not Yours" and he will never touch it again. He may chew his toys up, but when he and the cat play with the cat's toys, the dog is gentle and refuses to crush the light weight toys. When I go for a walk, both go with me, but the cat requires no leash. It walks beside me because it thinks it is my equal. The dog thinks I am the pack leader and is submissive. If my cat wants to learn a trick, he does so in record time. If he doesn't, he gives me that "you've got to be kidding" look and climbs onto his ottoman and takes a sunbath. The dog would work on the trick until he was exhausted if I let him. My dog walks in the snow until his feet are half-frozen. The cat keeps to the edges of the house, where dirt still shows. When he's in the mood to play, then he happily pounces into the snow and onto the dog's back, bowling him over. Both of them come in looking like snow creatures. Cats are definitely smarter. They don't need us, but it seems, for some reason, we definitely need them. They are great mousers and ratters. My dog just likes to watch the show. However, if I had trained him correctly, my Scotty could be a great catcher of burrow animals, since that's what he was bred to do. Without the training, he has no clue. To the cat, mousing and ratting is natural; unfortunately, so is catching small birds.

I believe that Dog is smarter than the cat because dog can easily be trained to do some tricks. There are dogs performing different and impressive tricks. I have not yet hear cats performing tricks too. Hmmm. They are followers and loyals to their owner. I so love dogs.

Dog too because dog can easily understand & easily be trained...this pet is so smart....emagine we just go home in our province once a year or sometimes once in two years but our pet dog can still recognize me.I don't understand why? or what's in them that they could remember someone even they did not saw for a long time.

Dogs are the smartest of all pets. Cats are selfish and are always headweighted.Dogs are the best companion for people who are alone and provides security for their owners. It behaves with a sense of love and affection towards its master and is very honest and loyal. However cats are not so good as dogs to my experience. There is absolute no doubt being a dog lover and say it is smarter.

i love dog very much and i think that dog is cleverer compare to cat. i had a dog, Golden retriever breed who is 1 year old. My dog is very loyal, friendly, playful and had good memory. He likes to follow me whenever i go. Although my dog is big size, it always get bully by street dogs which is smaller. He let the street dogs to enter my house and finish all the dog food. I do not like cat because it is not loyal and want attention very much. Cat like to fight even with own baby cat. Cat is not as loyal as dog. That's why i spend much time with my dogs

I think both animals are smart. For instance, dogs can be trained to do many things and tricks, while cats can't be. But that's not because cats aren't smart, they just don't think that it's necessary to do all those things (I read that in a book). So basically we could say that dogs are less smart because all they want to do is please their owner, while cats think for themselves and do what they want to do.
