Many vegetarians maintain that they dont eat meat because that involves killing the animals and consuming their soul. However there are a few who think on a higher realm of consciousness who say say that plants have a life and eating them is also murder ..
What do you say ?

I have to agree with what Pose said. I know there are people that hold great respect for mother earth and all that lives on it. Not only do they respect it and take what they need, they also give back so the cycle of life continues.
As for if a plant has a soul, this I can't say but it is life. I think a person would be taking it to the extremes if they wouldn't eat any living thing. Thinking on that, it would be humanly impossible not too because everything lifes. I think that some special interests groups take it a step too far. There are good causes, even great lines of thinking, but sorry to say this isn't one of them.

well, i don't think so... God created animals and plants for human's consumptions and that's why in the Bible it is stated that God gives us the authority to rule over them... so i don't think eating animals or plants can be considered as murder... what can be considered as murder is if we abuse, torture or kill the animals or plants intentionally... that's what i can't tolerate... take care and have a nice day...

I also say plants have a life. Some vegans also say they dont eat anything with a face. Plants have faces too. Myself i cant eat pork even if i wanted to and i dont. It causes stomach problems for me. Beef i have not had for at least 10 years. At one time i was totally veggan. Then i worked with this asian youth which expressed then need for fish and fish oils. I started reading and came to the conclusion he was right. Besides Jesus feed fish to the crowds. If it was wrong would he have done that? I also consume dairy. And even chicken. Anyway upon looking into vegetarism there are different types. It starts with removing the red meats from your diet.
To truthfully be scriptorial about it heres what the Bible says about what we are supposed to eat and it will also be that way again in Jah's Kingdom. Gen.1:28-30; Gen.2:8-9; Gen.2:16; Isa.11:6-9.
My personal reasons are scriptural for changing my diet. I consider myself still learning and growing into the proper diet that i will need if in fact i make it into Jah's Kinhdom.

A plant is a living being, and if being vegetarian or vegan is about respecting living forms, I don't understand why plants can't be respected too. Maybe only if the living form is able to show feelings they consider it worth saving.
I'm an omnivore, by the way

I don't think eating plants nor animals is murder. It's secondary anyway. What we eat is usually what someone else has killed or picked, and prepared -- unless you grow your own plants or have a farm or keep animals. Plus, we have to eat something. This reminds me of a story I read in AlienSkin online magazine called "Edna and Me" which was a story about a couple who lived in a world where you couldn't eat meat nor plants, so they ate humans instead. I see some folk's idea of murder might be different. I can't see killing animals or picking plants so we can eat as being murder.

then whats the answer? if everything you eat is murder than we should just die of starvation? That makes no sense. What about the food chain? What about all the "murder" that happens in the nature everyday?
People have to eat. If they prefer not to eat meat or animals because of what they believe it's fine because they can have an healthy diet without eating animals. But if we do believe in soul then every living things have a soul and eating any of it would be murder. But people still need to eat :/

Dear friend,
There are other living things that we are not even able to see, we stamp on them while we walk as we do not have no other way to go further. We kill mosquitoes when they bite us. May be I hope it is a part of survival. As god created some animals for other animals. May be God created plants for humans to get fresh air and food. As we could see that there are animals only eat flesh or meat.

God is present in his entire creation, in every animate and inanimate thing on earth and so he is there in stones , animals, humans andalso in plants. However everything made by him is there in creation for a particular reason and not by chance. so plant life is there to serve the higher beings in creation like animals, birds, insects and also humans. The plants serve all these forms by acting as food and sustaining them.Even though plants have life and even feel pain still there is no sin in eating them because that is why they are here on earth. If that was the case then they would not have been made in the first place.there is a particular sect in India who walk barefoot so that they can avoid stepping on small creatures like ants etc. However they still cannot avoid killing the creatures whoare even tinier than them.So whether they like it or not they are still commiting a sin.But such things are forgiven by God since they are unavoidable.Plants feed all of us and so they are doing good and earning blessings from God.

I would say I hope not. Because then I am a serial killer! :-)
Besides, in my opinion if it is a necessity, it is not murder. Every creature on this world needs to eat. Humans, dogs, cats, ants, etc. Ants eat plants. Surely that is not murder. Elephants eat plants. Surely they are not murderers. Wolves eat meat, as do dogs, as do cats. Are they murderers as well?

The difference in plants and animals is that animals have nephesh, plants do not. I don't think it's murder to eat either one. If God says we can eat them, then that settles it.

I pose this question, What the hell am I supposed to eat? We have three choices herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore. I understand the argument about ethical treatment of animals, and I back it. I understand vegetarians, in general, respecting animals as sentient beings. Though, I think it's funny that most vegetarians will eat fish and chicken. I guess their eyes just aren't sad enough. But quite frankly, if someone approached me on the street to tell me that eating plants was wrong, I just may eat them.

Oh man... If eating plants is murder, what else can we humans eat? Or we just drink water? Sometimes, I think people are just being too hard on themselves. We have so many commandments to obey, so many disciplines to uphold, so many restrictions to adhere to, etc. What kind of life will that be? Simply tasteless, pardon the pun.

Eating plants is never a murder. Plants are not thinking beings and they are irrational. Even with animals, eating them is not murder, but some laws protect certain things such as the method of killing. There has to be a balance on things and we have to eat those plants or else we are murdering ourselves.

I say don't ask such questions! I'm already starving...
Plants produce some parts to be eaten... fruits were meant to carry their seeds through this process. Just a random thought.

I say that's pretty stupid, how are they supposed to maintain any kind of calorie intake that will allow them to function on a normal level. I'm not against vegans but why torture your body by starving it?

I am a vegeterian (and formerly vegan), but I really don't think eating vegetables is "killing" plants, because the parts we eat aren't the plant itself.
I do think humans are naturally onmivores- meant to eat plants and animals, but I am vegeterian because I do not support how meat is being produced in my country (the US).
